Lovely garden setting, especially on a nice summer night. The food was OK, and not a good value for the money.

Nice setting. However the music was too loud so that I had to shout across the table at my friend. It should be more subdued. Food was great, however I did not want to ruin my weight watching by eating a caloric dessert and when I asked for fruit or a scoop of ice cream with some fruit, they didn’t have any. I’ve never been to a restaurant where they didn’t have any fruit Or some low calorie substitute.

Have eaten dinner here a few times. On Tuesday, the clams casino were chewy & not very flavorful. I did get the extra fried oysters I requested but the spoonful of chicken salad, which accompanied the dish, was minuscule. A little disappointed this time around!

We would go to the M for dining following a trip to the WS Theater and were always pleased. This past Sunday was rather disappointing. Food was not cooked for good flavor (vegan pot pie) - or overcooked (pork chop). 😢
Too many other choices to chance it again - - and we cancelled Talula’s Garden to go there - oh well!

Food was great as usual. The stuffed dates appetizer was super as was my pan roasted salmon.
We chose to eat outside this time, unfortunately part of the time there was a table of about a dozen women for happy hour out there who were very loud and rude. An employee asked them to lower the volume and the only response was "oh, yea we're rowdy" and they continued for another 20-30 minutes until they finally left. Still we will definitely go back, maybe even eat outside again.

it was terrible.

The service was lacking, the food was underwhelming and the jazz was a pitiful example of music.

The food wasn’t bad however most everyone’s dishes were over cooked and not seasoned well. The place is beautiful and the service was good however for the price doesn’t seem worth it. Definitely more of a hotel than a remarkable restaurant.

While the courtyard dining setting was beautiful, the meal went downhill after the delicious fennel honey bread starter. The spinach in the strawberry salad looked like bagged spinach and tasted like it had been stored at a very cold temperature. The vegetarian pot pie was a piece of puff pastry set over a metal bowl of white beans and other vegetables. No crust underneath or around the veggies. My dining partner’s pasta special sounded far more tasty than it actually was. The rye pasta was non descript and the mushrooms and goat cheese didn’t not liven the dish.

Our server was good.

Too bad the food wasn’t up to the setting.

Love the feel of the outdoor garden! As spring has arrived, this is the perfect place either for happy hour or full dinner, especially on Wed and Friday evenings when a jazz group plays. A great spot in the middle of the city!

I wanted to have a quiet dinner in a setting that was different for my mom's birthday last week and we picked M. It was too cold to sit in the garden but we were seated at a table close to the French doors that offered a lovely view of the garden nonetheless. We shared the special tortellini that was stuffed with goat cheese served with sauteed ramps, and the beef tenderloin, which was perfectly cooked and presented with carrots and fava bean mash. Service was spot on with caring staff and attentive waiters. I want to come back when we can sit and dine in the serene garden and enjoy a balmy night under the stars. Thank you for making my mom's birthday perfect and for being so kind to her. She will never forget it.

Included dinner at this place as part of a theater/stay over anniversary celebration. Quail and beef tenderloin entrees were excellent. Winter salad was also very good. House wine was great ... no need to get fancy. Service was impeccable and it was surprisingly affordable. Will look to do this again.

We were seated in the historic hotel dining area. It was very quiet for our pre-theater dinner, in another building away from the noisy bar area. My trout was wonderful with a crisp skin and flaky fish. The roasted vegetables would have been great, but they were overly salty. My husband had the baked chicken and enjoyed it. We finished eating an hour before the play was to start, but we were not made to rush out. there were still empty tables and the staff assured us we could take our time.

We really hoped that dinner before the theater, this time, would be good as there are not too many restaurants in the Walnut St theater area. We were disappointed again with the food and service. We were seated by a door that was continually being opened for the staff to ferry things to where a wedding was being held. Cold and annoying. We were moved to another table. The appetizers were good, however, much too salty. The vegetables in our main courses came out cold, we complained and then they brought out another order which was just as cold. One of the party had the pork entree, which was also cold. They did give us 10% discount, but that is not enough to warrant a return visit.

Happy hour with Hannah was a delight. She was very professional and fun to chat with. Steven our server was helpful and knowledgeable of the menu. Going on his recommendation our Short Ribs and Trout dishes were excellent. I especially loved the Bacon Wrapped Dates appetizer "yummy". I can not wait to go again. You do not want to miss out on dinning at the M Restaurant.

Loved this place-the ambiance, the very cozy bar (the 3 for $15 is a city winner), and the lovely outdoor setting, which I intend to check out soon when the weather behaves. We heard live music which was lovely with a pianist and a harmonica vocal team that was refreshing.
Our main courses were perfectly presented and were delicious. Hannah the bartender was super nice, as well as our waiter Steve. Hoping to go back soon. Overall a wonderful night on an otherwise chilly evening.

What a pleasant surprise! We discovered this restaurant and bar on our walk to another spot a month or so ago! Stopped in for a drink at the bar, and decided to return for dinner on our next theatre venture! We just completed that visit (2/15) and realized that we had found a truly special place with great service, cocktails, and food!
Our server, Linna was also truly special, paying close attention to us throughout our visit! The daily special of beef lion with hummus and fresh baby carrots was from the genius mind of a most creative chef!
We, and many friends will visit many more times!

We went for Valentine's Day and had a wonderful meal all around. We had a silky tomato bisque, an oyster barley soup, one of the best salad courses ever for a house salad (the dressing was just absolutely delicious), and then we shared a whole Dorade fish, which was perfectly prepared, so flaky and delicious with a creamy oyster sauce. For dessert, I had the poached pears with a creme anglaise and my date had baked brie. What a meal! The dining room was abuzz all evening with happy, attentive waiters and we enjoyed the usual Wednesday perk of live jazz. All in all, it was truly a lovely evening all around. It was great to celebrate in a room that was filled with many happy diners. We will be back!
