M bistro Ratings and Reviews
The service was amazing and so was the food. It was our anniversary and the waiter brought us a champagne toast and trio of deserts on the House. The restaurant overlooks the Davenport lounge so we had live Jazz for most of our meal. It was a little loud if you were next to it but our server happily moved us toward the back so we could still hear it and each other.
My husband and I celebrated our 60th anniversary here and it was so beautiful. The food was very good and our server was very attentive and caring. What a romantic night it was for us. Our check was paid by a total stranger. What kindness to say the least. Thank you Mr Bistro. It will always remain a lovely memory for us.
Large group that went for a special occasion. Food was mediocre. Waiter was surly and rude and brought the wrong food and in the wrong order. We still had to tip 20% because tip was added because of large group. Food was bland. Not what we expected from a restaurant in the Ritz Carlton.
We went for a Coolinary meal. It's a hotel restaurant, and we knew that...but it really has a hotel atmosphere. The vibe would be much better, in my opinion, if the restaurant space was walled off or separated in some fashion.
The other big detriment on our visit was noise. A conventional group made their way into the dining area before we got our appetizers. They were very loud. The restaurant apparently had no where to put them other than in the main dining area.
Our table of four had three different appetizers. The seafood gumbo was very good. The chargrilled oysters were unlike any chargrilled we've ever had. They were lukewarm at best. Close to raw. At the very least, the menu description was way off.
The main courses were the best part of the meal. We all had petite filets tgat were cooked ti the desired doneness.
Service was fine. They apologized for the noise and checked on us appropriately.
Just ok. Not a great value, even for Coolinary. We won't be back.
We were in town celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary and we stayed at The Ritz Carlton. We didn't really want to go to another restaurant and worry about parking etc so we decided to eat at the hotel. I'm glad we decided to eat here. Everything was cooked perfectly. I had the filet and my husband had chicken. They surprised us with dessert the was specially prepared by the chef for our anniversary and it was tremendous.
Bistro was closed and they had no awareness of our reservation. However they honored it and sat us in the beautiful Davenport lounge. We were given the bistro menu and got to order what we went for. The bbq shrimp and grits was fantastic and our server was the best we've had since arriving in new orleans. Hotel was gorgeous as well.
The food was very very good. Great local fare, very good quality. Our waitress was not as attentive as we would have liked. The restaurant is a little dark, chairs are not very comfortable. Although we did not say anything, our dessert (homemade sorbets and gelato, which were very good) were given on the house. We will definitely go back to this restaurant.
This place is a little confusing to find as you have to take the Ritz Carlton elevator to the third floor then wind through a series of hallways and lobbies. Typical higher end hotel restaurant ambiance. Went there on Sunday night of JazzFest and had no wait for a table. The fact that they have very good food and excellent service seems to be a well kept secret. Went with my boyfriend and his 13-year-old vegan daughter. It was quiet enough that we were able to have a nice conversation. We both got the beet salad and gumbo, which were both delicious, nicely presented, and generous servings considering they were supposed to be "small plates." But, the best part was the very special attention the waiter gave my BF's daughter, bringing out a specially prepared vegan bread basket for her and bringing our her own menu with the chef's selection of vegan options for the night (not on the regular menu, but available if you ask.) She ended up getting a lovely farro stuffed pepper and was treated like a queen. Very happy with our experience and glad we took a chance.
We had a great time here. The food was really delicious, our server was very friendly and gave us a lot of recommendations for the rest of our stay in NO. The crawfish bisque was exceptional. The best part however was the life jazz band playing for the guests. It's not a cheap place but I was expecting a higher bill for less in a fancy hotel like the Ritz. Will be back for sure!
