The noise level was unbearable, the tables so close it was like they were at you table. Because of the noise people raised their voice to talk. As good as the food was doubt if I return or recommend.
The food was outstanding and the service excellent!
Food was good but the tables are way too close together.
Sat outside; great happy hour menu! Mussels were undercooked but the manager came out with a new pot.
Great! Very accommodating staff. Great food. Outdoor tables are fantastic.
A new chef has made the food even better. The charcuterie and cheeses are still there, along with burgers and schnitzel, plus the trout was excellent. There is a huge bar selection, and of course the surprise wash room.
I ordered the roast chicken and side cauliflower. Absolutely amazing. As good as any meal I’ve had in Paris. Very reasonable prices and nice portion sizes
Sunday brunch. It was crowded and we had to wait a while even though we had reservations. Service was a bit slow, but the restaurant was completely packed. My Eggs Benedict were good (served on top of a croissant, nice touch) but not fabulous. Could go back, but overall Liberty Tavern seemed better at a slightly higher price.
Another excellent brunch at Lyon Hall. We were back in Arlington after a year away and while some old haunts have slipped, Lyon Hall is still excellent. their brunch always one of our favourites and remains so. A range of good choices on the menu, and a somewhat different menu from many standard brunch offerings, with continental Europe slant.
Love the mussels here. Always good!
Great selection of beer, both draft and canned.
While the food and drinks were delicious, the service was a disappointment. We had lunch on Easter Sunday, with a reservation at 2pm. The restaurant was not crowded or overly busy. Once we were seated our waitress asked for our drink order and was visibly annoyed when we requested a moment to review the menu, since we had only been seated about 10 seconds prior. Instead of giving us a few moments, she stood there waiting and again asked after a few seconds! Her impatient attitude continued through the course of ordering our meal. A member of our party tried to order a beer, but she couldn't remember what was on draft. She then suggested a beer on draft and since it was unfamiliar to him, he requested a small taste. She refused to provide a taste of the beer and insisted if he wanted to try it, he needed to purchase a 4oz pour. No thanks. Good thing we didn't want another round of drinks, because she never asked. Overall, the service left a sour note to an otherwise delightful family gathering.
Never disappointed here. Delicious brunch, good drinks, good vibe. Can't wait until it's warm enough to sit outside.
Very pleasantly surprised by this lovely spot. I went with a friend on Easter weekend for brunch and sat at the bar and had some of the best food I've had in a while. I'm a big fan of great French food and they did not disappoint. The service was excellent (actually the owner himself helping behind the bar.) The jazz music was on fabulous, the ambiance was authentic, and the service was spot on. Though I live in DC, I will definitely be coming back for more visits to Lyon Hall. It's worth the drive.
Awesome food at reasonable prices. Service was a tad slow, but it also was Easter, so it’s to be expected. Highly recommend! Will be back!
We were there for Easter brunch on the earlier side. The hostess sat us in a section where our server hadn’t apparently even arrived yet. Server amber one section over realized this and picked up our table and was amazing. She deserves a raise or bonus for Sunday as she was the only server on the flor for the first half hour.
Staff and food really were excellent
Ambience perfect-- not too quiet, not too noisy
This was our first time dining here and although we made reservations, we were early, but they seated us. The service was great and our server was friendly! The food was delicious and ingredients were fresh. We'll definitely dine here again.
First time dining here and met some out-of-town friends for dinner. The pretzels were more bready, than pretzelly, but the three dipping sauces were great. The menu is small, but offers varied Continental cuisine with interesting twists on traditional preparation. Nice wine and beer selection as well. Conversation was easily heard and the staff attentive. No complaints. I look forward to going back.
After making the opentable reservation I called the restaurant to be sure it was correct, and was assured that the time and number of guests was recorded properly. When we arrived the reservation for 3 had been shrunk to 2 and the place was pretty full. Nevertheless the staff were able to provide us with a comfortable table. The waitstaff was very helpful, provided good explanations when asked and handled an order error gracefully.
The food was fine. Orders of hanger steak, mussels and wiener schnitzel were each enjoyed with suitable wine and beer, in a busy ambiance of people enjoying the scene. Will certainly return to this as a long term local establishment, which it is, and which it seems to enjoy being.
Great experience...really liked the food and cheese selection!
Like the menu for brunch and dinner. The cappuccino is great; good location for meeting family who live in dc. We have been coming here for years.
Usually, we really enjoy Lyon Hall and gladly recommend to others. That being said, we recommend going elsewhere on a Friday or Saturday night.
Went to Lyon Hall with friends we haven't seen in a while and the evening ended on a sour note. As the check was delivered, plates and wine glasses were cleared from the table. Water glasses were taken away as soon as the credit card receipts were delivered and, before our jackets were on, the neighboring table was being push together for the next larger group of guests.
Rather than a not so subtle push out the door, the restaurant should have communicated the need for the table in order to seat the next party. We were slow to depart because there were a couple of empty tables upstairs and we did not realize there was a wait downstairs. Really want to impress, offer us a free drink if we vacate the table faster - we would have declined to get home to kids but it would have made this review full of nothing but praise.
Phenomenal. Food was awesome, the wine list was of a medium size, moderately-priced, and had great (and interesting) selections. Service could not have been better; the manager apologized profusely that they took 15 minutes to have our table ready, and bought us our round of drinks (nice champagne by the glass and wines). We'll go back every time we're in the area!
Consistently excellent. Great for business lunches and dinner anytime.
Excellent and friendly service. The food was so good!
Soooooooooooooo good! Not a tremendous amount for a vegetarian on the menu, but I had the sides, Mac n cheese and the Brussel sprouts. My table mates wanted to try it, but it was so good, I said no!
We really enjoyed eating at Lyon Hall. The pork schnitzel sandwich was one of the best sandwiches I have ever had.
We had a really nice lunch. The tables are too close together.
I’ve been here several times and repeatedly have hostesses that are not friendly or accommodating at all. My server/direct waiter was great but that’s the only reason our evening was not regretful. Would love kinder hostesses next time.
Amazing food and service. Mussels Vin Blanc and Steak Tartare were 👍🏻
The food at Lyon Hall was delicious. The service that we had at lunch was a bit slow particularly as we were trying to leave and settle the check. The server took a long time to bring us the bill, and then wandered around with my credit card for a good 5-10 minutes (including going back and forth to the area where he could have run my card twice) before delivering me the chit for signature, while my colleagues were clearly putting their coats on because we needed to get back to the office and our uber was already waiting for us outside.
Great service - very attentive to a gluten allergy. Definitely a go-to place for us
Our server was so nice and really great at her job. Super professional, too! Our plates were cleared for each course and she let us take our time to catch up before ordering. When I told the host it was my moms birthday, it was seamlessly communicated and my mother got a candle in her dessert. Thank you for making her birthday wonderful!!
A great place to eat with excellent service! I had a French appetizer of different types of cheese from around the world. My dinner was a German Dish of schnitzel and spaetzle, that was prepared more as a gourmet dish rather than the traditional style dish of Schnitzel. It was excellent! I will have this again on my next visit. I have added Lyon Hall to my list of favorite places to eat in DC area, and you will too!
Food was great and the wait staff is super. Really love this place but its just a bit too loud even early on a Thursday night. I have been here a couple of times and it is always consistently great food and wine.
Very good food, with a nice variety of selections. Friendly and helpful waiter. Another plus: nearby parking was very easy to find. In all, a very pleasurable lunch. I highly recommend the restaurant.
Service was sub par. We were there almost two hours for lunch. Food was good. Took forever for them to take our order and forever for food to arrive. Our glasses were left empty.
Food and atmosphere were excellent. Great place for a sophisticated lunch.
