Lyon Hall Ratings and Reviews
I like Lyon Hall but mainly the first floor. I really do not like the upstairs: there is no ambience, it is like a differente bar. Not for me, also the chairs, not than comfortable.
Lyon Hall is very very loud ( not energetic, LOUD) so if you want to talk and have a conversation, not the right place).
Overall: I like the place, great food, nice place, devent prices, good service...and they have music DJ later at night.
Mixed feelings about this time at Lyon Hall. I have been many times and always enjoyed it. This time, on the plus side, all of the food was very tasty. On the negative side, it took over 2 hours to get all of our food and my husband ended up with some piece of plastic in his dinner. They were apologetic about both issues, but not a good look for a moderately expensive meal.
Lyon Hall is always a favorite. The menu is strong, food is good and the staff is always very nice and efficient. Our waitress Ranya was absolutely amazing and took good care of our quirky little group while we celebrated, laughed, made far too many bad jokes and a few crazy requests. She is a gem! She truly helped to make the outing very special!
I go to Lyon Hall from time to time with friends and family and for special occasions. It never disappoints. I've tried many menu items and never found one I didn't like. Everything is tasty, and everything looks tasty. The staff has always been helpful, including when we've been in a hurry.
Excellent food as always, but I had not been there for sometime and asked for a quieter place for my 83 year old mom to be able to hear... and we didn't get a quieter place. I would have been fine if you had told me my reservation would not accommodate an old person... but no joy.
I got the Grilled Shrimp Salad appetizer. It was such a great mix of flavors. The greens and dressing were excellent. Shrimp perfectly grilled, with an avocado mousse, great for dipping the shrimp. Great presentation. The Short Rib Bourguignon was delicious, tender and with a great wine sauce. Vegetables the right doneness. All in all a great meal. I got the Restaurant week deal and the one negative was finding out upon getting there that there is an up charge for the Short Rib. However, all in all a great presentation and great meal.
We came for happy hour/light dinner after a matinee in DC. Two of us has mussels (I had theThai mussels) based on the good reviews and they were both excellent. Our other friend loved her bratwurst. Drinks were great and all for a happy hour price. We will be back and will recommend it. Our server was attentive and he helped us with the menu.
I've been to Lyon Hall two times before and I wasn't impressed on either occasion. This trip was much different though; the service and food were outstanding, and the happy hour deals are really something to celebrate. My mom and I ordered the Thai and Normandy mussel pots and holy cow are they good. The two pots have very different flavors (Thai is sweeter and dairy free, and the Normandy is more savory with a mushroom cream base) that complement each other nicely, and for $10 a piece, one can certainly make a full meal out of either if you make sure to ask for bread. We finished our meal with a delightful winter fruit tart that was just lite enough for us not to feel like we needed to be rolled out of there. Overall Lyon Hall was outstanding, and I'd highly recommend it to anyone looking for a great, reasonably priced meal in Arlington.
Our group of five enjoyed brunch at Lyon Hall this past Sunday. We had a great table upstairs, which is a bit quieter than downstairs, and outstanding service throughout our visit. Everyone reported favorably on their selections. Two of us had the lobster omelet, which was a perfect size and with plenty of lobster to justify the price. None of us enjoy huge portions, but also don't want to leave hungry, and Lyon Hall seems to find the right balance. The quiche Lorraine was light and very tasty, and the squash and ? dish looked wonderful. The bloody Mary's were a big hit as well.
This was our first time at Lyon Hall and it lived up to it's great reputation. We had excellent service, great food, and a wide selection of beers. We were there for a family dinner with our two kids and sat up on the second floor. We really liked the second floor as it was much quieter than the main floor. We'd definitely recommend it and will go again!
Nice meal, good service, even on a busy Saturday night. No real complaints, but I would point out 2 minor issues: (1) the lighting was excessively dim; and, (2) it would have been nice if our waiter had pointed out that the mussels don't come with a side of fries (IMHO "mussels + frites" is a standard pairing).
