Lure Restaurant & Bar - Delta Victoria Ocean Pointe Ratings and Reviews
Celebrated Valentine’s Day at Lure. The food, atmosphere and service was great, didn’t feel rushed and they spaced out the bookings so it didn’t feel to packed. The food was really good but nothing to write home about, we knew about the 3 course Valentine’s Day menu and though it was good I would have expected better for a $160 bill.
Amazing waterfront views from this restaurant. We went on Valentine's Day and had excellent service from all the staff. Food was excellent - options were not something we would ordinarily select and were very pleasantly surprised with the flavours. Definitely recommended.
I have a "beef" with Open Table. I made my reservation 2 weeks prior to our family gathering through Open Table. It was confirmed. I called Lure 2 days prior to our family birthday to confirm the time, date and numbers. I was told that all was good. Then, on the day, I called to add 1 more person (making it now 9 people) and was told that I did not have a reservation but they could accomodate us. Imagine the stress of possibly having to explain to 9 people that our special event was cancelled or moved because they lost our reservation. Although we will be back, I am now leary about Lure's reservation system and will be calling to make the reservation and confirming the day of.
Hosted a dinner for ten guests (many of which from out of town.) We all loved the view and the ambiance of the space. Was seated in a great location for all guests to converse. The food and drinks were enjoyed by all and were served at the appropriate times to enable us to meet our after dinner commitments. Highly recommended for group dinners.
My client’s meal was up to par with a lovely beet salad and edamame starter.
I ordered the Steelhead entree. My meal was NOT up to par and well below the Delta Lure standard.
The steelhead was rubbery, the sauce tasteless and VERY salty, the meal was lukewarm and substandard on every level.
I did talk privately to our server, after the meal to express my disappointment in the meal.
She did not offer any compensation in any way and again I did not want it to be the focus of my meeting with my client present so I just left.
Service was slow and food was mid-grade. We were a few minutes early so our table wasn't ready. The host sat us at the bar which was fine but we were required to settle at the bar before moving to our table a few feet away. We had to then carry our drinks and belongings to the table and wait for our mediocre meal to arrive. Definitely a disappointment for such a lovely location.
It was a good dinner with good food and drinks in a very enjoyable atmosphere. The only thing that I think as an improvement it is the number of servers. We had a good service from our waiter, but sometime it was a hard to talk with him because he was busy with some many tables he had to take care of.
Another wonderful experience at Lure! We were celebrating two birthdays so were delighted to be sat at the window. Our server was friendly and attentive and the brunch items we ordered were amazing! We decided we have to start having brunch at Lure more often, a great value in Victoria and did I mention the spectacular view?
Booked online for restaurant, ended up with a table on pub side. Was for a birthday so wasn't ideal. Chicken wing not cooked through, charcuterie plate not explained, meals ok. Used to be a premium place to be but now that it's increased in popularity, wouldn't recommend as the service hasn't kept up with the demand.
We went to Lure for an early Christmas celebration for my staff and their husbands. The atmosphere was nice as I have been here before many times for my birthday and love that I can book Online to reserve seats. This time was nice except one of my girls didn't finish her food(a whole steak). The server took it away and tossed it. Nothing was asked about having it for take out. $29 down the drain! We were a bit thrown off by this and it kind of put a damper on the night.
My third visit and I was disappointed after two previous good experiences. We came for lunch but had to raise our voices to be heard over the too-loud "background" music, even though there weren't many people in the restaurant. I asked for the awning to be lowered because it was too sunny. It was and it made a big difference, but then I noticed someone raised it again a few minutes later. I asked again, but the lowered blind did not fix the problem. I finally gave up and endured the glare. My meal tasted as though it had just been defrosted and heated up. I suppose it was, but if I visit again, I shall try to order something that has not been frozen. My guest ordered a sandwich. It was made with bread sliced way too thick, and then toasted, making it very hard to eat. Try chewing through two toasted slices of very thick bread with very hard crusts. She broke a dental crown. Luckily she was able to retrieve it. It was not the pleasant lunch I had hoped for. Come for the view; be careful what you order.
We had a really lovely evening here - food was great, view was stunning, table service was excellent— but we felt a little adrift upon arrival - there was no one to greet us for 3 or 4 minutes as we claimed our reservation - seems petty to mention it since we has such a nice time!
Everything was great and the service was excellent, my only complaint is that the food portions are too small. When I left the restaurant I was still hungry after eating my dinner. For the amount of money you pay for the food the portions should be bigger that is why I would only go there every once in a while or for a special occasion. I would recommend the restaurant to a friend but I would warn them that it is expensive and that the food portions are small.
When we advised we needed a minute to decide on a drink, the server would often not return for nearly 30 minutes. Almost every time we ordered drinks, they wouldn't arrive for seemingly 30-40 minutes, or not at all. Reminders had to be frequently given. Glasses for water were dirty.
At one point, the group of us went to the bar to order drinks because it was seemingly far quicker. Once these were ordered our server informed us that the bar bills couldn't be combined with our table bills. This necessitated an additional tip at the bar on top of the mandatory gratuity at the table, as well as added inconvenience. The bartenders barely paid attention to us as it was.
I don't consider myself high maintenance when it comes to dining, but i expect service to be relatively prompt, especially when there's a mandatory gratuity. Will not go back.
We enjoyed the buck a chuck on Friday night - 24 oysters. Yum. We asked for a window table and were given one with a spectacular view of the inner harbour. We share a few small plate items and a bottle of wine. Delicious and good portions for two of the items. Not enough veggies for the veggie dish. We were not rushed and enjoyed a leisurely paced dinner. It is a lovely location for dinner... good energy. I wouldn't recommend it necessarily for a quiet romantic dinner as reservations are not required... some folks just want to get loud and celebrate!
We went for my birthday, but had to leave early because my fiancé was starting to feel what turned out to be a bout of a 24hr stomach bug (don't worry, he hadn't eaten anything yet). The crab cakes were super yummy, and my chicken sandwich was pretty good. I wish I had gotten the steak sandwich though. Service was good, and they got us out of there super efficiently when my other half was feeling iffy. Beautiful view too!
