Lure Restaurant & Bar - Delta Victoria Ocean Pointe Ratings and Reviews
My third visit and I was disappointed after two previous good experiences. We came for lunch but had to raise our voices to be heard over the too-loud "background" music, even though there weren't many people in the restaurant. I asked for the awning to be lowered because it was too sunny. It was and it made a big difference, but then I noticed someone raised it again a few minutes later. I asked again, but the lowered blind did not fix the problem. I finally gave up and endured the glare. My meal tasted as though it had just been defrosted and heated up. I suppose it was, but if I visit again, I shall try to order something that has not been frozen. My guest ordered a sandwich. It was made with bread sliced way too thick, and then toasted, making it very hard to eat. Try chewing through two toasted slices of very thick bread with very hard crusts. She broke a dental crown. Luckily she was able to retrieve it. It was not the pleasant lunch I had hoped for. Come for the view; be careful what you order.
We had a really lovely evening here - food was great, view was stunning, table service was excellent— but we felt a little adrift upon arrival - there was no one to greet us for 3 or 4 minutes as we claimed our reservation - seems petty to mention it since we has such a nice time!
Everything was great and the service was excellent, my only complaint is that the food portions are too small. When I left the restaurant I was still hungry after eating my dinner. For the amount of money you pay for the food the portions should be bigger that is why I would only go there every once in a while or for a special occasion. I would recommend the restaurant to a friend but I would warn them that it is expensive and that the food portions are small.
When we advised we needed a minute to decide on a drink, the server would often not return for nearly 30 minutes. Almost every time we ordered drinks, they wouldn't arrive for seemingly 30-40 minutes, or not at all. Reminders had to be frequently given. Glasses for water were dirty.
At one point, the group of us went to the bar to order drinks because it was seemingly far quicker. Once these were ordered our server informed us that the bar bills couldn't be combined with our table bills. This necessitated an additional tip at the bar on top of the mandatory gratuity at the table, as well as added inconvenience. The bartenders barely paid attention to us as it was.
I don't consider myself high maintenance when it comes to dining, but i expect service to be relatively prompt, especially when there's a mandatory gratuity. Will not go back.
We enjoyed the buck a chuck on Friday night - 24 oysters. Yum. We asked for a window table and were given one with a spectacular view of the inner harbour. We share a few small plate items and a bottle of wine. Delicious and good portions for two of the items. Not enough veggies for the veggie dish. We were not rushed and enjoyed a leisurely paced dinner. It is a lovely location for dinner... good energy. I wouldn't recommend it necessarily for a quiet romantic dinner as reservations are not required... some folks just want to get loud and celebrate!
We went for my birthday, but had to leave early because my fiancé was starting to feel what turned out to be a bout of a 24hr stomach bug (don't worry, he hadn't eaten anything yet). The crab cakes were super yummy, and my chicken sandwich was pretty good. I wish I had gotten the steak sandwich though. Service was good, and they got us out of there super efficiently when my other half was feeling iffy. Beautiful view too!
The experience might have been improved had the waiter remembered our entire order. This is NOT a seafood restaurant. Who fries halibut in an expensive restaurant? I can get fish and chips on the street. Shameful.
Upside is the oysters were divine, as were drinks.
I made a reservation for my mother's 70th birthday dinner and added a note for the occasion in the reservation with a request to be seated in a booth with a view. We were seated at a large table with a view as there likely were not any booths large enough accommodate our party (6ppl).
Service was OK - Surprised we had empty drink glasses and empty food plates & soup bowls that were never cleared from the table even through the end of enjoying dessert.
Food was OK
There was no recognition or mention of the my mother's birthday from the staff. Considering the restaurant was in a hotel, I was surprised we weren't even asked if we were visiting from out of town....
Spent our last night in Victoria on the patio having small plates. Server was incredibly accommodating with my husband's gluten & dairy free requirements. She made great suggestions and offered modifications we hadn't thought of -- so that he could enjoy the food he really wanted to try. The smokey ribs, mussels, charcuterie platter, salads were all amazing.
We loved the food and the view. The glass around the patio really cut the wind and it was so great sitting out on such a beautiful evening. Such a quick drive around the harbour to get to such a beautiful view back on the main harbour. (if you don't have a car - take the water taxi over as it stops right at the Delta hotel (where Lure is located).
Thanks to Lure and our wonderful server for a great evening.

I love going to Lure and the service is normally great. This night the food was great but the service was unbelievably slow. Not sure why. We waited 15 mins for drinks, our empty plates sat for at least 20 mins before they were cleared, we waited to get more water, we waited for our bills and then waited again to pay.
I had the chicken sandwich which was very nice tender and moist with tasty bread. It come with potato chips which I did not want. So I had to pay $2 for a small uninspiring green salad!! Why not offer a salad or soup option???
One friend had crab cakes which she found delicious and my other friend had the Angus burger which he found tasteless. Service was excellent and our food came within a reasonable time and the view of the inner harbour was fabulous!
It took 90 minutes to get our entrees while those around us who got there after us were served before us. Our waiter was very nice & explained that the kitchen was short-staffed. The manager offered a very half-hearted apology and gave a very small discount that wasn't worth wasting most of our last night in Victoria waiting & waiting. At least the view was nice.
The reason I gave the service fair I has nothing to do with our server. She was fantastic. It was the hostess we arrive and tell her we have a reservation. She tells us that they are running behind because the first table was 30 mins which led to the table after us to be late so she told us we could wait 30 mins for our table. Now I'm confused what is he point of a reservation if I have to wait 30 mins? We asked if we could add a chair to the white booth that was right behind a pillar and she said no because it was a fire hazard and the servers couldn't get through. Okay well how do they walk by the pillar? Then she offered us a booth that was still dirty. There seemed to be no sense of urgency nor any idea that she gave a crap. This really didn't start the Father's Day brunch off to a good start. However our server was great.
Dined at LURE a number at times for various occasions. Breakfast was very good. Server was new; servers and host chose to cut through narrow area behind a seat that was not appropriate and seats were no prime despite requesting a specific table for a specific reason.
