Lure New York Ratings and Reviews
It was our third time at Lure. We went for my husband's birthday. I requested a booth and confirmed the reservation the day before. The hostesses tried to give us a table IN THE BAR. I insisted on the booth I requested, and confirmed. The hostess was very nasty and was not honoring my request until I threatened to report it to Open Table. Finally we were given a booth. The waitstaff did the absolute minimum, lacking the geniality and solicitousness that one expects from such a high end restaurant. When the manager finally appeared to ask how our dinner was, I told him of our experience. His response was, "My girlfriend likes that table.". REALLY? I hardly think that was an appropriate/professional response.I'll NEVER go back.
I went here for dinner with friends on a Thursday evening, and the place was packed. Great ambiance - it felt like we were on a fancy boat! The food was fantastic, and the staff is accomodating. They had scallops on the raw bar menu, and I asked if they could make me cooked scallops for my dinner and they did - they were amazing!
Have been here for dinner and really enjoyed it. This time was during the brunch hour--did not enjoy it as much. The potatoes were cold, and one side order arrived after the main entree was finished. Would reconsider for dinner, but not sure about the brunch hour. It was not that crowded, so no excuse for not getting great service and food!
The service was excellent and friendly; the sushi was excellent; the entrees were excellent. I highly recommend the yellowfin tuna with soba noodles and peanut sauce. The chocolate "birthday cake" dessert might be the best chocolate cake I've ever had. The coconut sorbet was delicious, and combining the sorbet and the cake gives truth to the saying "the whole is greater than the sum of its parts."
In a nutshell, the food at Lure Fishbar was fair, far from great but not the worst either although the appetizer I had (grilled octopus salad) was terrible. The 3 sushi rolls I had were mediocre. Pricewise, this place is a giant rip-off. $18 for a small-sized sushi roll? Please. And Lure was, without question, the noisiest restaurant I've ever eaten at. Would never recommend this place to anyone. Ever.
My sister treated my husband and me to dinner last Friday night. The place is great - ship like and very chi chi. Our waiter was great but the wait staff was lost and confused. The food was fair... how can you mess up shrimp cocktail at a top rated fish place? they were overdone and tough--no taste. The tuna tartar was OK. and the lobster rolls were poor. The noise level was too much but people watching was fun. I won't go back.
We went to Lure for my husband's birthday because he loves oysters. The food and service was great. The only complaint is we had to wait 30 minutes past our reservation time to be seated. It is very frustrating to make an 8:30 reservation and not be seated until 9pm because the people at the table wouldn't leave although they had paid. The restauraunt could have asked them to move to the bar.
I wanted to take my boyfriend out to dinner for a milestone birthday! I had to find a place that had awesome seafood and great cocktails. At Lure Fishbar I found that and more! The ambiance is so cool, looks like the inside of a cruise ship and the music kept me doing more than some head nodding. The staff was uber friendly and made the best recommendations. They were very attentive to us and even doting even to the point where I wasn't so upset when my scallops meal too long. The hostess surprised me with some out of this world deviled eggs topped with caviar...yummy! The food was excellent! I highly recommend the lobster ravioli, the tuna tiradito, the roasted scallops, and the spiked Arnold Palmers. For dessert try icecream sandwiches!
Appreciate the interior decor and have a drink while waiting for a table - you're in the right spot for a great meal with (usually) excellent service. Menu is seafood dominant but still has enough items to satisfy everyone. Appetizers are a fair indication of how the meals are presented and a group should definitely try a few. Noticeable pairings of taste & texture between entrees and side items. Descriptions and ingredients won't cause puzzled looks. I recommend reservations for optimal seating choices.
Food was on point - generous but not overzealous portions, fresh fish and inventive flavors. The service is fair - the hosts are professional and adept. My table's server was functional, but not friendly. The bartenders were indifferent as well. I'd like to see a slight increase in friendliness - it makes the experience all the better.
We went for our 10 year anniversary. We were a bit worried that the ambiance would not be romantic enough setting for our occasion. They put us in the perfect spot. We were seated in a tucked away spot in the corner of the lounge...dim lighting, fairly quiet, but were able to watch the entire scene of the restaurant. Our server was outstanding and recommended excellent choices for sushi, which we devoured.
