Lure Bistro & Sushi Bar Ratings and Reviews
Lure used to be one of my favorite restaurants. However this was one of the worst dining experiences I've ever had.
Our waiter couldn't answer any questions about the food and was very slow. When our dinners finally arrived, I finished speaking and looked down at my sushi tasting. I said to my friend, "I don't recognize anything here. I don't think this is right." Seconds later I heard the woman next to me say, "I think I've got the wrong order, but it's really good!"
He'd switched our orders. She had started to eat mine and liked it. He asked me if I'd started eating and I said "No." He picked up the plate and put it down in front of her! She ate it! That's so against restaurant code to do that! I said nicely, "I want a new order, and don't just add to what she's got on that plate."
You'd think it would be the number one priority to get my order corrected, but it was at least 15 minutes before he brought it. Meanwhile, my friend refused to eat her dinner until I got mine, so her grouper was ice cold.
I was so upset by this time that I couldn't eat most of it. Our DATE NIGHT menu included two desserts, but our waiter ignored us and stood talking to a table with two young girls who must have been his friends. He finally came to ask about our dessert order. We didn't get the dessert until the restaurant was almost closed. We were the last two in the place. I asked for a box for most of my sushi. He took the plate instead and boxed it. When I got home I saw that he did not put in the ginger or wasabi.
I left the usual 20% because I just can't not do that, but really $65 plus tip for a horrible evening.
We preplanned with good friends to meet at Lure for half price sushi on Tuesday. Our party of 6 was taken care of quite well, even though there were 3 separate checks. As is always the case the sushi maki roll and futo maki rolls were outstanding. Most members of the party had at least two variations so there was ample opportunity to try a variety. My wife and I also ordered ceviche as an appetizer, and it was excellent.
Lure Bistro is a nice restaurant just off the main street in downtown Willoughby. We visited for the first time earlier this month and I was happy to hear that the Friday night special was a clam bake. My wife started her meal with a bistro salad (greens, cucumber, tomato & asiago cheese) and had the pan roasted walleye for her main course. I started with a clam chowder (plenty of clams and potatoes and not overly thick) and then had the clam bake with a lobster tail, which was very good. We complemented our meal with a nice Raeburn chardonnay. Service was very good, and we’re certain to come back to Lure Bistro the next time we’re in the area.
Bernie was great, very attentive, and helpful. My new favorite server. The bartenders are basically unable to assist customers. They seem very overwhelmed and have difficulty keeping up with the pace of the restaurant. Unattentive, impolite and definitely need lessons in customer service and what it means to be a SERVER. people are there to relax and be waited on. SERVED. Dining should not be a stressful experience!!!! Bernie did a good job of reeling it back in and offering us a nicer experience!
It was a lovely evening to sit on the patio and have cocktails and appetizers with friends from Florida. We decided to each get an appetizer and share. I would recommend the potstickers which was sitting on a delicious bed of pasta . We also had the calamari, mussels and edamame . Since we were quite filled up with appetizers we decided to pass on dinner and go straight to dessert. We each had a dessert which we shared but I highly recommend the flourless chocolate cake with vanilla ice cream. I thought it the best. Our server was attentive and friendly and didn't rush us. We had a very relaxing enjoyable evening .
We are a dining club that generally eats at a different restaurant each month. We experienced Lure Bistro's all you can eat crab legs last year, and loved it. We have gone back in smaller groups because we enjoyed it so. Now they are expecting to have it all year round, we will go more often. This time I chose the sushi. It was fresh and delicious. I didn't mind not having the crab legs because the sushi was so good. We will keep going back.
We came ona Thursday night for crab legs it was all you can eat for $33 what a great find, the crab legs were delicious, the salad was outstanding and the service was wonderful . Our server always came by to see if we needed more crab legs often. We never had to wave him down or wait a long period of time. I don't remember the name of our server but we sat at table 65. He did a wonderful job! Can't wait to try some of the other entrees on the menu.
Went to Lure for the AYCE Crab. Best snow crab in town. Our server, Dylan was outstanding. He knew when to refill out platter before we out. Was able to never miss a beat or should I say, a breaking of the claw. Chocolate butter with their home made whole grain bread was outstanding. Never thought butter could taste like East Coast Chocolate Custard. I should have ordered an bowl for dessert.
Goôd choice for a meal. Lots of variety. But experience marred by rain . Patio busy but Every table came inside noise Level unbearable. Music plus noise made it impossible to talk. Food good left before dessert because of noise.will come back and try again! Casual dining in nice area full of younger groups!
I was impressed with the menu options: sushi on one side, bistro on the other. However, the sushi was just average. It could have been my choices, but I don't usually come across sushi that I don't love. The service was subpar, too. A wait for valet parking, a longer wait to be seated (with reservation), and an even LONGER wait for the food. I will say that the atmosphere is nice, and I would go back to try the bistro menu.
We had family in from out of town and we love taking them to great finds in our little Willoughby OH. It is fabulous to sit outside at Lure on a beautiful summer evening, and the food never disappoints. We had a little of everything from the sushi, to crab-crusted grouper and a watermelon salad. I'd love to see Lure up their game in service; two of the guys (servers) have been there forever and are great. We didn't have them this time - bummer.
Lure's is our go to "Friday Date Night" spot and it is a reliable choice for a nice dinner. On our last visit I enjoyed the Pork tenderloin with Blackberry Compote special; and my wife the Burger. When paired with the Lobster Nachos, a beautiful summer night, and the patio; dinner at Lure's is a great way to end the week and start the weekend.
It was very dark and unappealing inside. The service was deplorable. We, a party of 3 celebrating my fathers birthday, were seated and left for a lengthy amount of time before the server returned and asked for our order. We watched other tables around us come in later and be served ahead of us. And to top it off, the food was just fair.
We had been here before for an anniversary and looked forward to a good meal and great atmosphere, as we had enjoyed the year prior, and were sadly disappointed. Something has changed and we will not be returning anytime soon.
I read about this restaurant in Circle East Magazine which is part of Cleveland Magazine. The chef won an award as a best chef so I was very excited to try a new restaurant. It was a pleasant place but we were seated outside but near the bar so we could smell smoke from the bar patrons. I never saw the inside of the restaurant. The food was mediocre at best. I had salmon and the other three in my party had the trout. The sauces were unevenly distributed throughout the dishes and the veggies were soggy. We had the crab flatbread-it was fair and some sushi, also fair. I had high hopes but they were dashed. Service was very uneven too.
