The menu is based on the Italian tradition of preparing food - combining simplicity with the best ingredients of the season, including quality olive oil, locally grown local vegetables and fruits, and seasonal specials of seafood, poultry, meat and game. Our bread and pastas - gnocchi, tagliatelli, parpardelle, linguini, tortelloni, and ravioli are homemade on premise.
In addition to the regular menu, our specials menu features different soups, antipasti, pastas, and main courses.
Beyond a passion for authentic Roman cuisine, our friendly Italian staff work from their hearts to make your visit comfortable and enjoyable.
Lasagna Alla Bolognese
homemade lasagna with meat sauce, bechamel, mozzarella and parmiggiano cheese
homemade fettuccine with porcini, shitake and oyster mushrooms in a black truffle sauce
Gnocchi Al Cinghiale
homemade potatoes dumplings with 5 hours braised wild boar sauce
Delicious cure for Covid cooking fatigue, The food was spot on tonight. My mushroom truffle fettucine was great and my daughters gnocchi also well done!
The food was amazing. We ordered the misticanza salad which was springy and bright. My partner got the lasagna and I got the homemade fettuccine tartufate. The lasagna had ten delicate layers and it was a generous portion. The tartufate, the fettuccine was tender and silky and the mushrooms paired so well. It was a rich and delightful meal. We ended the meal with the white chocolate lemon tart and it was the best way to finish off. Highly recommend this place. We will definitely be coming back to Lupa Trattoria!
Food was flavorless and overhyped. Biggest issue overall was the extremely rude wait staff. Not only were they brash and impatient in taking our orders, the owner came out and yelled at the couple next to us when they had questions about the quality of their food. The couple ended up crying and left the restaurant, putting a pin in our miserable experience with this establishment.
With Covid restrictions abating, we have lots of choices for where we can start dining out, and after giving this place two shots, we will never be returning.
Pasta pasta pasta! Best gnocchi we’ve ever had. Patio was warm and lovely. So happy to be back at this favorite :)
Simple, delicious Italian dishes with a great outdoor patio.
I haven't been to this wonderful restaurant in well over a year. I used to go quite often when they first opened. Honestly, the food is better than ever. And Stefano is still the most charming host I know.
Please help support this wonderful Trattoria ....
A neighborhood gem! The warm outdoor patio felt distanced and safe and the Penne All 'Arrabbiata was perfectly al dente, spicy, and delicious with a glass of Barbera. Can't wait to try again!
We had a wonderful dinner at Lupa. Made the reservation spur of the moment and could not have been happier with our choice. We will absolutely be back. Grazie mille.
Best tiramisu in town!!
Lupa remains a terrific go-to in Noe for Italian. Been swinging by for over fifteen years and will continue to when we have the occasion to be out. The food is always world-class, the service is terrific and Stefano is a gracious host.
I had the cornish hen it was outstanding! be aware it may take 15 to 20 minutes for the order but worth the wait. especially since they put delicious bread on the table to nibble on until the hen arrives.
Outstanding service and delectable dishes! Look forward to coming back often.
Food is always good and the service of waiter was excellent.
Lovely authentic Italian food
Get the lemon torte for dessert!
This restaurant has been here for 20 years. It used to be 'Little Italy' which I went to all the time. When it closed and 'Lupa' came in we just didn't go. Finally, I went last Saturday evening. I had no idea what we've been missing. Everything was perfect. I love it and this is now my "go-to" Italian restaurant.
Fabulous neighborhood spot! Great service and food.
One of our favorite neighborhood restaurants. Always delightful, never disappoints.
The food was outstanding. Even my son liked his meal and he is the pickiest eater on earth
we were so pleased with Lupa. Wonderful ambiance- and the service was fabulous. Had the fettuccine with truffles and lamb ragu papperadelle - portions very large. and wonderful bread. We didn't like the tiramisu it was too sweet for us- but also very large piece. Cant wait to return, The menu is wonderful It was difficult to choose since everything we like is on their menu. We are in our 70's. Cornish hen next time
Best authentic Italian food in SF by far! The service was impeccable, as well. We dine out in SF frequently and this has definitely risen to the top of our list of favorites.
Very pleasant and good dining experience. Food is consistent. Service is always attentive and efficient.
Great food and service. I have been going to Lupa for many years and it is a fantastic neighborhood restaurant.
Consistently excellent! Lasagna melts in your mouth! Nightly specials are a dream. Great wine. AMAZING service! Caeser salad is the only miss...
Nice and quiet for conversation. Food was several cuts above and the hostess era molts amicizio. We’ll be back.
Consistently excellent food and service. You won't go wrong with anything on the menu--home made pastas, delicious meat and fish options, and yummy desserts.
Wow! The food was delicious and far exceeded our expectations. We tried several pasta dishes, the steak and desserts. We could not stop eating. What a great place!
My partner and I went on a last minute date here on Friday. It's a small, cute restaurant in Noe Valley. The service was phenomenal and stood out. They have a genuinely nice and attentive team working there. The food was really delicious. We had the charcuterie plate, carpaccio, salad, rack of lamb, steak, and cornish hen. All was superb. Highly recommend!
This Noe valley restaurant is a gem. Great service and delicious food at great prices.
The last time we attempted to eat here, they gave me a hard time about my service dog. They insisted I show them my cards and paperwork, which I immediately complied with. We then went on to have a nice meal. Months later, we wanted to try them again, but this time we got kicked out. Not only do I have a registered service animal, but she was in a zippered bag and was never even out of the bag. She does not shed is and therefore is hypoallergenic in case that’s ever a complaint. However… No other people were in the restaurant at the time either. And obviously my dog did nothing “wrong“. She’s a perfectly train service animal. The fact that they think they can kick out a handicapped person with a service animal is illegal and immoral. I obviously will never go back to this restaurant but I ask others to reconsider their choice as well. Every other restaurant I’ve ever gone to over the years in the city has allowed my dog(s) with no issues. All of my animals have been perfectly behaved and trained.
Authentic clean fresh Italian with wonderful warm neighborhood feel
This was my 5th or 6th visit to Lupa's and the food has always been outstanding. Switching vegetables was done without a problem. The service is always first class. The single problem is the overall noise level. My partner and I were seated at a table for two and could not carry on a conversation. The tables for 2 are very close together (less than 12 inches apart) which makes any type of personal conversation impossible. I would definitely return to Lupa's on another occasion.
Very good food, friendly waiters. Nice warm fireplace. Go early in the evening if you can.
Delicious! Lasagna was so amazing. So many delicate layers.
Food is good but service is always mediocre. The waiter, whom I believe is one of the owners, is always grumpy. He should not be at the front of the house. Also, I noted on my reservation that I was going there to celebrate my nephew's 5th birthday and the restaurant did not acknowledge it.
Everything we had from appetizers to entree was very good. The pasta I had was very fresh and seasoned well. Too full to have dessert.
Sunday night dinner with a client here was good, but maybe not the best pick for the occasion. The food was delicious, but the space is very loud and echoey. Server was a bit curt, but made himself available often. I’ll definitely be back now that I know what to expect.
My goto place for dinner in Noe Valley. Always great
I enjoyed the food and the service. The noise level was terrible. We could not hear each other! I noticed how noisy it was- as soon as I walked inside
Incredible food matched with incredible hospitality. Love Lupa Trattoria!
We love Lupa and enjoy every meal we have had there. This time we took some friends who were visiting from the East Coast and were world travelers. They really liked both the food and the homey ambiance.
