Our entrée salads for lunch were outstanding and the portion size was large. The apple-cider vinaigrette was absolutely delicious! The view of the boats was beautiful and relaxing. Service was nice. I'd definitely go back and recommend this restaurant to friends.
We have been to Lungomare several times. We went on a Sunday, which we haven't done before. They have a great deal "Wine Down Sunday" - $30 for appetizer, entree, and dessert PLUS endless wine. The wine was a choice of 4, two reds, two whites and they were decent, drinkable wines. The food was fabulous!
The waiter was exceptional. The food was good and the wine was excellent.
We enjoyed the view and the food was tasty and prepared competently. We picked the restaurant for lunch because it was convenient for East Bay and Marin friends as well as convenient public parking.
The server was efficient (almost too efficient) and the food was good enough that I would go back. Looks like a good place to go if you have a larger group as well.
Lungomare is reliably excellent. Been there many times and have consistently appreciated the quality and the value, especially the Sunday Winedown prix fixe dinner - best deal in town!
Post Game Meal
Must have the mushroom pizza. MUST have it. Advice: get a window table and enjoy Oakland's fabulous waterfront and the people walking along it. Seafood dishes here are always good. Cautionary tale: do not have the Irish Coffee. It is made with their own house-made version of Bailey's Cream and, of course, there is no such thing so it did not work.
My party of 11 came to celebrate our grandmothers 85th birthday and the service was HORRIBLE!
We were at Lungomare for lunch. The restaurant is great for that lunch break, overlooking the Bay. Good parking, good food, good service....what more could one want.
I want to go to Lungomare more often! The food always surprises me -- I expect it to be good, and it's better than that! I had a really tasty arugula salad and a pesto pasta dish that was very good. My friends both had the salad with a tuna steak and were very happy. And JLS is always interesting if you've got time to stroll.
Great food and wine at a very reasonable price.
Very, very noisy! I had difficulty hearing my dinner companion.
Wait staff is inexperienced and/or not properly trained. No bread plates came with our bread basked and olive oil/vinegar dipping sauce. Very messy. We ordered the Prix Fixe and after the appetizer, the waiter asked me to keep my knife and fork for the next course. After our main course a wait staff member came to us with two deserts. We told him that we had not yet ordered desert yet and he said, "Well, do you want these?".
I will go back for the food but I will arrive early to avoid the noisy crowd.
Pleasant setting, enjoyable food. We were meeting with old friends and wanted to just talk for quite awhile before ordering food and there was no problem from the staff about that. Noise level is moderate so you can actually talk to people!
We always have a good time at Lungomare. The menu was very tasty on Valentine's Day . We love to have a cocktail at the bar where Felix, our favorite bartender, knows exactly what we like and makes us great drinks.
We arrived 10 minutes early and were told that we had to wait at the bar. We figured that since it was Valentine’s Day, no tables were available. 15 minutes later we were seated and were surprised to find the restaurant half empty. Why were not we seated sooner. The menu was reduced to a Valentine’s Day menu with very little choices. The waitress was helpful in finding in finding something acceptable on the menu. However the pork dish she helped us to select was very fatty and the polenta that was to accompany it was non existent. Overall all an okay experience, but we will look for another restaurant next time.
there were 6 of us. we all enjoyed the wine down sunday menu. nice portion control, tasty wine.
we will be back.
We really enjoyed our evening. The restaurant is beautiful and we were there at sunset. Such a warm glow and the food and drinks are excellent.
Excellent service and food was yummy! Outdoor seating on a beautiful afternoon - a perfect lunch spot!
Not quite there. Asked for a robust Italian wine and was pointed to Italian grapes grown in Napa - instead sampled the Italian chianti and a barbera, both were disappointing as was my wife's California Cab. We were asked if anchovies on the salad were ok, said yes, but found the flavor too strong. The calamari appetizer was fishy and we decided not to eat it. The prosciutto small plate was of the quality you get from a package at safeway and the radicchio was a bit overwhelming in its bitterness and quantity. Best plate was a sausage with a risotto of bulgar wheat - but you have to like butter.
Service was just fine, view is very nice overlooking the estuary. Overall made me miss Boca Nova.
Went for brunch, French toast seemed like it had not been dipped in egg, only warmed on grill. Food was not hot and somewhat bland. Salad dressing on chopped salad tasted like vinegar only. However service was quick to accommodate which was appreciated.
Restaurant Week special was very good food and value.
The pasta was cooked correctly...there was a bite to it. I very much enjoyed the meal.
We went here for restaurant week. The food was simply delicious! Homemade pasta, amazing pork shoulder. We will definitely be coming back! Only note is that desserts were a bit underwhelming.
Good food and great service. Went for restaurant week and was able to make same day reservation. waited for maybe 15 minutes before getting seated. After a few minutes, our server right away asked if we were ordering the prix fixe menu and then said red or white. She did nor rush us to order. I started with the fried cardoons which were okay but I ordered since it was an unusual ingredient. The meatballs were fantastic! Light and not dense
The food was excellent, the service was great and the atmosphere was wonderful. We happened to dine during Oakland Restaurant Week and the prix fix meal was a terrific value!
Service was terrible and made the experience unpleasant!
We went during restaurant week and sat at a window table. We had a wonderful view plus the tasting menu was a great value and delicious. Also the wine was included and it was surprising good wine!
The service here was okay, OpenTable wasn't working on their end so they couldn't see my reservation. They seemed a little stressed about it. At first they seated us indoor when I asked for outdoor. They fixed it, but seemed a little upset about it. Waiter didn't come around to check up on us. Staff was rushed and managers seemed rude.
The food and drinks were great.
Loved our price fixe lunches. I had the Italian Panini and he had the mushroom pizza. Both were delicious.
Went here for a family dinner and had a good experience. Most of us ordered the dry aged ribeye which was excellent. Mussel appetizer was very good, meatballs were OK. Cocktails were very good and service was excellent.
We had a great dinner. The food is a little pricey, but was delicious. We would go back again. Next time we will go for lunch to take advantage of the view in the daylight.
I've been to Lungomare several times over the last couple of years, on each occasion the food is very nice but the service is terrible. The servers are very slow from the moment you enter the door until the time your check arrives. It's a shame the service is so slow, because the food is very pleasant, although the servings are small by US standards. If the service could be improved, this could be a nice restaurant.
Reliable and reasonably priced good food. Easy parking. Good brunch place. It’s always nice to sit overlooking water, boats. Servers are pretty friendly, you can catch music sometimes. No hype. Just a good place to frequent.
Excellent food, excellent service with great views of the estuary....
The Christmas dinner of Prime Rib was fabulous. The only problem was with the seating. When reserving I had asked for a table with a view of the water. The hostess ignored that and tried to seat us at a table at which the ocean view was obscured, so I had to insist we were moved to another table. Throughout the entire meal, a table right by the window remained unoccupied. That was hard to understand, as we asked about the table and were told it was unavailable. Unavailable for WHAT? is our question.
Excellent food and service. Swordfish and pasta dishes especially good.
Service and view was wonderful.
Started off with the host who we argued with over a table. They had one set up for 8 by the wait staff station. (REALLY loud direction yelling in the kitchen by the lead chef? I thought I was on a crazy chef reality show). We had 6 people. I pointed out a table for 6 that was open and I was told "But that is for people with a reservation." Well, we had a reservation. There were probably 5 other options throughout the half empty restaurant. After going back and forth they gave us another table. Probably one of the worst meals I have experienced of late and I dine out regularly. POOR service was the culprit. The young lady had to be flagged down instead of regularly checking in on us throughout the meal. It took a total of 30 minutes after being seated before we had our drinks brought to us (Including the 15 minute wait for the waitress to even come to the table after our arrival). THEN they brought out two of the entrees after another half hour wait and no one had yet received their appetizers and salads. The menu clearly stated the meal was set up in courses. We sent that back and then comes out two side orders of potatoes. Sent that back. The staff bringing it out blamed the waitress and the way she put in the order. Then 20 minutes later come the appetizers, salads, etc. Fortunately I was there with people I love and we enjoyed each other's company. But I felt embarrassed because I had arranged the restaurant and was paying for the meal. So many other goofs --- too much to list. The saddest thing about the service was that the restaurant never got more than two thirds full while we were there --- no excuse. To top it off the food was just ok. Never going back. Never recommending.
Way overpriced. Totally outrageous tab of $179. Seven Fishes should be better named Seven Lonely Seafood Morsels. Be forewarned.
We have been here before for several dinners but we believe that the food and service have improved !!! The meal started with the smoked salmon & burratta and we each has a fabulous pasta dish--Trofie with a pesto lemon sauce and Chitarra with house made ink squid pasta.. They gave us a complimentary dessert--Budino which was delicious... Our server was Angel and she was very warm ,professional & attentive. We have recommended this on our Facebook pages and now friends/neighbors/family are going...
