Excellent in every way. We could eat here every night with all our family and friends!
Been coming here since it opened. Sometimes weekly. Consistently fantastic food. Wonderful and friendly service. Across the street from where we live. What more could you ask for?
Always welcoming with delicious food. Our go to Italian restaurant.
Always a pleasure!
Wonderful neighborhood restaurant. The menu offers many options for all diners, and the daily specials are always excellent. The staff are very friendly and professional, and they not only try hard but succeed.
This is one of my favorite restaurants in the city. I love everything about it. The food is superb and the service is very attentive.
Loved it. Birthday! Food was great! Waitress was great!
The food was excellent: delicious, well prepared and presented. The wine list is diverse with excellent options for interesting pairings. The waitstaff is attentive and courteous.
The veal was excellent and the service pleasant and attentive. Despite having very noisy neighbors, the overall setting was good for conversation.
Excellent restaurant in the neighborhood. Always have a very good meal there. And wonderful attentive service
We all loved the food and service!
Looking forward to our next visit!
I eat here often. Always good. Good food and good value. Nice neighborhood spot. Try the Liver and polenta.
Second time there both times excellent. First time ravioli which was delicious, second time i took a chance on the skirt steak. As a rule I never, eat beef outside of my own kitchen, but i took a chance. It was perfectly cooked and i did not have stomach issues, I generally only eat pasture raised beef which has caused me to have a delicate stomach.... I will most definitely be back when i return to the city... oh the salads are wonderful and priced right for this type of dining.
Perfect neighbourhood restaurant and my new go to place when i have to eat out in NYC
We had a wonderful dinner. We've been to this restaurant many times but the menu has changed apparently due to a new chef. It's improved considerably, although the bread could be better. We had a lovely quiet table in the back with great wine and great service. This is a terrific neighborhood, casual spot, near the movie theaters on 86th Street.
It was price fixed menu. The food was amazing, and really the only reason I would go back. A 9pm reservation had us leaving at 1130pm. I received my filet at 11pm, a full two hours after we were seated. The food really was great, just took forever to get the courses along and the waiter did not seem to care to give any input on what the best options were on a limited menu.
Small place, amazing food and wine. Service was exceptional.
Great atmosphere and service. The food was amazing
All went well until we had to wait over 30 minutes for dessert with no one on the wait staff giving us any updates.
Expensive. Staff nice enough.
It was very nice. No complaints.
I have dined at Luna Rossa on a number of occasions. Always the service has been caring and
accommodating. The food is very tasty. I especially like their wild salmon with spinach. I have
also had pastas that are very good. A friend loves their calves liver. I have split their chopped
salad that is a favorite. The noise level is a tad high but that is because I am a bit hard of hearing and the staff always works to find the least noisy table. All in all I have always enjoyed
my meal at Luna Rossa. It is also very conveniently located near the 86th Street movie theaters.
Really lovely atmosphere, personable staff - they make sure you are taken care of...food was heavenly - some traditional Italian dishes and some with a really nice twist of flavors. Would whole heartedly recommend to others! The gelato was heavenly!
Absolutely incredible food. My boyfriend and I both agreed that our meals tasted like they were straight from Italy. I would say it’s definitely the most authentic tasting Italian I’ve had in the city. Service was great. Ambiance was great. We had the spinach ricotta ravioli with truffle cream sauce (out of this world) and the parmesan encrusted chicken piccata, also amazing. We will definitely be back very soon.
Delicious caeser salad and incredible eggplant appetizers!
We are fortunate to have a restaurant on this level of excellence so close to our home. The food and service are outstanding and we bring family, friends and business associates with confidence. The food is always fresh, the waiters polite and accommodating with no pretense.
Amazing restaurant and great food choices. Perfect Italian cuisine. Highly recommend this gem. Try the fried artichoke and the chitara. Personal fav. And a great cookie plate!
On Monday, January 15, 2018 (Martin Luther King, Jr. Day), my wife, our friend and I had dinner there. It was excellent. It is very quiet there, which we like. The service is excellent, too. The food is very good. The three of us had the crispy artichokes, which is done in a Roman style. I had the filet of gray sole. My wife had the grilled prawns. Our friend had a pasta. He and I had the special dessert of the day. We were there for a long time. Our friend came from Virginia.
Luna Rosa is a warm, charming restaurant with very good Italian food served by professional and friendly waiters. I recommend it to anyone that wants a reliably good meal in a non-flashy environment.
Great food - reasonable prices - wonderful server (George)
What a wonderful find! We all enjoyed everything we ordered! Outstanding service that went over and beyond our needs! We’d return in a heart beat❤️👍😍
The food is consistently very good and was even better than usual on Christmas evening.
The food was lovely. Classic Italian with a creative twist. Amazing flavors. Restaurant is small and cozy . Wait staff was pleasant and helpful. It was Christmas Day and it could not have been better
I dine there often but tonight the service was not good. Its a great neighborhood restaurant so I was disappointed
Three of us enjoyed a delicious dinner. It was my first time at Luna Rossa and we were waited on by George who was attentive and had great suggestions. We enjoyed chefs salad and artichokes to start and eggplant gnocchi, fig gnocchi and filet of sole. Everything was excellent and my cousin loved the pistachio tart. What a great neighborhood place with old world charm, a pleasant noise level so you can talk and great food and service.
Food was exceptionally good tonight. The lobster pasta special was perfectly cooked Service was excellent and everyone was very happy.
What more can I say? Always fantastic in every respect. Been going for years and will continue to do so.
Luna Rossa never disappoints. Pastas are always good.
A favorite - just delicious, comfortable, - love it.
Love the food and atmosphere. However, they would not honor gift card given to me in 3/17 because their new system doesn’t recognize it. Disappointing...that’s money paid to your restaurant not so long ago. Should be reciprocity.
We have dined at this small, quiet Italian restaurant for years. As regular travelers to Italy who have enjoyed its many regional dishes and wines, we think we know really good Italian cooking, and Luna Rossa is really, really good. Despite the many Italian restaurants on the Upper East Side, and indeed throughout NYC, few are as authentico, and very few prepare their food with such care and flavor. On the Upper East Side many people flock to Elio's, but any real knowledge of Italian food should know that it offers none of the authentic flavors or regional dishes that one finds at Luna Rossa. If you are looking for perfect al dente pastas, delicious fish, meat and fowl, piping hot food and a good selection of reasonably priced wines, don't pass up a chance to visit.
