Located in Spokane, Washington, Luna Restaurant offers American cuisine in a neighborhood restaurant. The farm-to-table establishment offers fine dining and fresh, locally acquired ingredients. Luna Restaurant has a full bar including an extensive selection of both local and imported wines by the glass.
Try the butternut squash bisque or the tuna tartare to start out your meal at Luna Restaurant. For a quick lunch, choose from a menu full of options like coconut prawns, the lamb burger or the daily quiche. The restaurant also offers an extensive dinner menu full of steak, seafood, pasta and more. For dessert, try the coconut cake or some of the house made gelato.
One of the great things about Luna is that you could always be assured of having consistently good food and a nice dining experience. I have been to the restaurant a few times since it changed hands, once for dinner and once for brunch and both were great experiences and what you would expect from Luna. My most recent experience was very disappointing. The pepper crusted filet was overwhelmingly pepper crusted and the duck was just mediocre. We had the apple crisp for dessert. I would say that the home baked desserts have historically been a strength for Luna. This apple crisp was just poor. So the meal - which was a celebration for my mother's birthday - was not memorable in a positive way and I will need to now consider that, if I go to Luna, I can't count on a memorable meal and evening.
As usual the food was excellent--delicious soup, great meat dishes, perfectly cooked fish, and inventive & delicious vegetable dishes. Of the latter, they are offering some great small plates which one of our party made her dinner (3 small plates ordered & actually too much to eat in one seating--so servings are pretty generous). We had some excellent red wine as well (think it was Barrister, local to Spokane). We live in Seattle but always head to Luna's whenever we're in Spokane. The new ownership (as of Jan. 2015) seems to have braved the transition really well, maintaining great service and an innovative menu.
Overall a pleasant experience with knowledgeable server but uneven food. The dishes we ordered sounded amazing on the menu and showed promise of creativity, but the execution was not always successful. The seabags entree was amazing, while the chicken was paired with overtart vinegar dressed greens that didn't complement the excellent flavor and tenderness of the meat. The apple beignets for dessert were again an ambitious treat, tasty, but would have benefited from a different presentation as they cooled quickly and that degraded the taste.
Great food and beautiful setting. Quite pricey so save if for a special occasion. I don't think our teenagers appreciated it as much as we did.
Luna has always been our favorite restaurant. When you expect excellence and get just OK, it's a little disappointing. Hope the new owners can bring it back up to par. The waitstaff was wonderful as always. We will give them another chance. There are always bumps in the road when a restaurant undergoes change.
The Menu always has new items on it and they run a special for the evenings. The wine list is great and they have nice wines at reasonable prices. The wait staff is always very nice to us. We ate outside because weather permitted and that is also very nice setting, a little street noise but not bad.
A lovely converted home is the perfect place for dining. Unique, beautiful decor and openness that I felt I could really enjoy and taste my food. My friend and I shared the kale salad, which I found delicious and I'm not a kale fan. My entree was the sauteed chickpeas, a delicious meal even without any sort of carbs. Nathan was friendly and patient with us since we had a 6 year old girl with us. All 3 of us shared the cookie plate, three huge cookies baked perfectly with a scoop of ice cream. We all devoured the snickerdoodle. Luna is located outside of Spokane in the well to do neighborhood of South Hill, but worth the drive.
We don't know why we don't dine at Luna more often when we visit Spokane. It is a quiet neighborhood restaurant on the South Hill, and the food and atmosphere are amazing; and classy! The pasta is the best we have eaten anywhere in the country and they are proud of their restaurant and food. It's about 10 minutes from downtown and way worth the short drive.
My wife and I recently visited Luna on the occasion of her birthday. The service, ambiance (we ate on the patio) and were wonderful! From the succulent scallops she ordered to the pizza with homemade sausage I chose, it was truly fantastic.
Reservations earned us a seat at larger table. Noticed crumbs on the seat, stains on upholstery, chipped paint and greasy feeling menus with torn covers-not an auspicious start.
Server was friendly, helpful and knowledgable. Had Beef Tartare-needed more spice and Clams in Broth-hearty and hot to bottom of the bowl-yum. Wine was forgotten-had to remind the server and I have to say, that drives me crazy. Don't bring my food if my beverage is not ready. Had dessert, Pavlova, and it came with strawberries-can't eat them. Server picked fresh raspberries from garden and I was happy.
Delicious food doesn't make up for less than sparkling clean surroundings and lapses in service. Looking forward to a second visit and hopefully, some changes.
first of all, even tho I made 2 reservations for a birthday, luna's said they did not have any .even told them it was for birthday occasion again..then waiter proceeded to spill a lg. glass of water all over me..it actually was dropped on table, broke and water splashed down the front of my blouse and pants and we had to move to another table away from only fan..so hardly any AC where we sat as by door to outside and heat was rolling in. they brought nothing for birthday but said they would treat us all to a single dessert to split after soaking me.. it was supposed to make up for shower..it will be a long while before I go back considering... they should have covered my meal at least.. wait till I write trip advisor..disappointing event.
I never have to have an excuse to go to Luna. They do a great brunch, happy hour, and dinner. Pat rocks the bar with fun, innovative drinks and their wine list always allows me to try something new. I love their kale salad - sometimes I just grab it to go on my way home to go. I always order the trout because it is such a unique blend of flavors and a generous portion. It is perfect in the summer when sitting outside with a nice glass of wine. Their decor is beautifully done and makes me feel like I am in a whole new city. There is very little turn over with the staff, which I appreciate since you can always recognize the various servers. Their bread is made there and delicious!! It is the perfect place for something special!
Food was amazing, and the wine list is excellent as well. We brought our own to be corked and they charged $15 which is standard. I always prefer no charge, but understand. The service was as slow as I have ever experienced. Two hours and we rarely saw our server. He did not check on us, but did give suggestions per the menu. Not good ones however. The cauliflower au gratin should NOT be a main dish, much better as a side. He said it would be best as a main dish but did suggest a share. Also, website menu is OLD. I went there specifically excited to have something posted on the web site only to be told that it had not been on the menu for months.
Took a long time to get food and drinks from the bar
Luna came recommended to us as a top Spokane restaurant, to which we all found memorable. With a scenic drive south of downtown and a classy neighborhood feel, Luna was the place to be during our spring break trip. Service was excellent and while waiting for our table, staff whisked past carrying plates of colorful and delicious food, including gluten-free options. Of course, the rich and enticing fragrance of fresh bread from Bouzies Bakery added to the experience. My wife savored a spagetti squash special; our daughter enjoyed the Kobe burger; and I marveled the Idaho trout dish. Presentation was perfect and we saundered back to the Davenport feeling satisfied and looking forward to our next Spokane adventure. Kudo's to OpenTable.
First time there and we were so pleased. The food was outstanding flavor and presentation, great service and good beverage choice. We will definitely stop by each visit to Spokane!!
We love Luna for any time but especially when we want to celebrate....Fabulous food, great drinks and desserts. It will always be a special place for our family and I would always encourage people to go there!
Luna is arguably the best restaurant in Spokane. Always fresh ingredients. Always something new, as the menu is frequently changed. And always excellent. There are menu items for meat lovers and vegans. Their signature salad has been copied (but not matched) by every other restaurant in the city. Even the pizza is incredible. They also have an excellent wine list. The atmosphere is easy to describe. Just imagine walking into your favorite Tuscan-style restaurant in Napa Valley and you've got it. This beautiful place is great for lunch or dinner. This visit was dinner for two. Very special. And romantic!
Already reviewed for dinner. This is an excellent choice! Great for lunch and dinner.
The food and service was wonderful as usual. We have always enjoyed dining at Luna's, and shall keep coming back.
This was my first time to Luna's, however the rest of my party had been there before. It was a wonderful dining experience and I hope to return when I'm in Spokane.
I was really impressed with this restaurant, in the variety in the menu, wine, and friendly service and warm atmosphere. Fine dining without being fussy or intimidating. Lovely selection of vegan/vegetarian items too.
We have been to Luna Restaurant one other time and had a great meal. This time the food was marginal in taste and quality. The lasagna (special that evening) was dried out. The spagetti was spicy but bland tasting. I ordered the chicken pizza as it sounded like pizzas were one of the specialties at the restaurant with the description of their oven on the menu. The pizza was REALLY bad...dry, not much sauce and kind of tasteless. I only ate one piece and tried to pick off a few of the toppings (which were modest) from the other pieces. There was one EXCEPTIONAL dish out of 4 entrees and that was the scallops. They were delicious! The bread and salads were tasty. The bill was high for the quality of food we had.
Great service. Great food. They obviously care a great deal about the product and diner's experience.
I was referred to eat at this establishment as some of my friends raved about how great the restaurant was. Our 6 person reservation table was originally a table with 6 chairs. The tabke was given to a group of 4 men & our seating was changed to 2 bench style seating. We had a baby in his carrier so this made this table set up awkward. The main waitstaff person was quick thinking & did get a high chair that we were able to set the baby carrier on. We brought in a bottle of our own wine, the waitstaff person had to be asked to open the bottle & she left the tin on the lip of the bottle, poor wine bottle etiquette. They were out of the clam linguine by 730pm. Rest of food was ok, not spectacular.. Enough said.
A lovely meal, as always! The staff is one of the best in the city and the food is consistently great. Our favorite restaurant in Spikane for very good reasons!
Luna is a favorite in Spokane. this was not our best meal there, it must have been an off night, but that won't stop us from returning.
We thoroughly enjoyed our evening at Luna. We started with a Luna salad. Then we enjoyed the free range chicken and filet mignon entrees accompanied by a wine from the very good selection offered. We ended our meal with a creme brulee and coffee. The service was friendly, attentive and timely.
We were there for a firm dinner but special occasion and it was wonderful. Great food and our waiter could not be better.
Great Service, Very Good wine list, interesting menu!
The outdoor patio is delightful on a nice evening. Service is friendly but clueless, and very, very slow. Luna has an exceptional wine list, with many excellent choices at moderate prices. The food is mediocre, but when you're sipping a great wine on the pleasant patio, with the food arriving at a leisurely pace, who cares?
Service and food were excellent and we appreciated the way the service was handled due to the fact it was a business meeting.
Everything was wonderful. We sat outside which was very pleasant except for noise from passing motorcycles which wasn't Luna's fault. Unique and flavorful dishes served with style.
I've gone to this restaurant over a dozen times in as many years and it is consistently very good food, friendly staff and a pleasant evening. Features local ingredients and vendors. I stop there every time I'm in Spokane. Their wine list is extensive, well priced and always interesting. Definitely recommended.
This is one of our favorite restaurants - the food, service and experience have never disappointed us in 11 years! The scallop entree was really delicious!
Consistently good. Interesting menu, changed infrequently.
Service was very slow; not just our table. Could have been the kitchen. Menu was very good. Loved the watercress salad. The scalpel dish was over-salted; over-heard next table remark on this as well. Still, I'd be willing to go back.
Comfortable, relaxed dining experience! Menu is a great mix of pasta, seafood, meat, poultry, gourmet pizza and vegetarian dishes! Also enjoyed the butternut bisque with crab and the watercress cucumber salad with almond vinaigrette before the entrees. And don't forget the yummy desserts--we shared a rich carrot cake, a chocolate cake layered with mint buttercream & strawberries, and a warm ginger peach crumble with vanilla bean ice cream. We were also celebrating our 22nd wedding anniversary that night with family, which the staff congratulated us on several times and they honored us with a complimentary dessert! Thank you Luna for a lovely dinner!
First visit to Luna and it was one of the best restaurants we have visited this year (including restaurants in Sonoma, Santa Fe and Seattle).
The outdoor dining was lovely and the inside dining very beautiful and reminded me of being in someone's upscale home. Luna had an outstanding wine list that was extremely well priced, the cocktail list diverse and all ingredients fresh, plus the food was wonderful with a great menu.
We always have a super experience at Luna....The food and drinks were great....Service was also great. I would encourage everyone to dine here. You wont be sorry!!!
