Luna Del Sea is our families favorite restaurant in Baltimore. They really have the best crab cakes as well as great steak and other seafood options.
For the price listed the portion was very small. We ordered the stuffed shrimp with crab.
Drove down to Baltimore for the wknd for seafood. Went to Luna del Sea because I went a few yrs ago. Remember the ambiance to be a little better that last night. We got there sort of late (10:30) and we sat down and noticed that there was food on the floor that hadn't been picked up or swept up. Chairs were mix matched and it really didnt have an identity. We ordered shrimp and crab imperial and crab imperial which was very tasty. Lump crab meat was excellent but the only downfall to the meal was I was spitting out shells the entire meal. They need to do a better job cleaning the crab meat before serving the food to customers.
Overall I would go back and get it again. Nice location and sits right on the harbor with outdoor seating if it's nice out.
I would recommend this place for the food not the indoor ambiance.
Crab cakes were delicious and huge. Enjoyed our meal, ambiance left some room for improvement but otherwise the experience was delightful.
Food was good but very expensive for what we had.
The crab cakes are the best, service is exceptional
Wouldn't split the check for our business group, which is annoying for a restaurant across from the convention center. Food quality was uneven--some items were excellent, while others were mediocre. The crab cakes were huge and tasted good but were full of shell fragments. Biggest issue was that entire restaurant was dirty. The floor, the bathroom, everything looked like it hadn't been cleaned and left me worrying how clean the kitchen could possibly be.
Restaurant was not crowded when we arrived (with a reservation) but everyone from the person who "greeted" us after we waited a few minutes for her to put away her cell phone to our waitress made us feel like we were an unwelcome intrusion. The server was clearly annoyed by any questions and took our food to the wrong table despite the fact that the other patrons were trying to tell her it wasn't their order. Crab cakes were fine but overall the food quality did not match the price.
Wonderful food! A neighborhood gem. Quaint.
Only real positive is location close to the Convention Center. Our server was very friendly and attentive., but the food was average and over-priced based on quality. I would not return.
They accommodated for 14 people on a moments notice and took good care of us. Great food, nice people.
This was our 2nd visit here and our last. The server was not very friendly and the main entree food was terrible. The only thing good was the hot crab dip appetizer. My filet was awful and the seafood bisque was average at best. I hate reviews like this and fortunately I don't write many, but I had to this time.
Nice people but poor food and only passable interior. They’re trying to be upscale, but it just didn’t work. My Fettuccini Shrimp Scampi was like a little shrimp in chicken gravy. Not at all like a scampi. One friend had meatballs, looked like the frozen kind from the grocery store, Mama Mia maybe? We won’t be going back. The way my husband described it “a dump.” Too bad...
Lots to like here. Great location, good food, ample portions, good friendly service. You pay a premium for the location though. We were there on a Saturday night - chose it because it was walk-able from our hotel. Was not very busy which made it quite enough and helped the service level. Good alternative to the chain places.
Great local joint convenient to the Hilton Baltimore and Inner Harbor. Awesome crab cakes.
There was a concert at the royal farms arena that I was going to. I made a reservation and even with the restaurant being packed full we made it to the show on time. The wait staff was incredible and we had the most amazing time ever thanks to everyone who works here.
A nice place to go before a show or concert. Food was good, the seafood trio dish had some issues with being cold but it was cooked good and had plenty of flavor.
We came to town for the Fleetwood Mac concert! We were pleasantly surprised at your quaint little restaurant! Food was outstanding and the service was even better! Highly recommend!
We were sat immediately. Our waiter was fantastic at greeting us quickly and was ready to answer any questions. The food seemed to come out fast as we were preoccupied with the good times we were having. The crab cakes were the size of a large baseball. It was made of lump crab meat holding hands. The wings, bruschetta, pasta, Crab Imperial, and lasagna were all equally amazing! I heard that Luna Del Sea has the best crab cakes in Maryland; now I know it to be true! Will definitely be back with more friends and family, now that I’ve got the hook-up for the BEST crab cakes in Maryland! Thanks again for a good times and great food!!
We had great service and great food. We did have 6 people in our party and that was no problem fro Luna Del Sea.
Overpriced and food was not as good. The crab cake was dry.
We had a bad feeling as soon as we walked in. It was loud and not a lot of tables full but a lot of staff. The manager greeted us in a sweatshirt. Our waitress took her time getting to us and was impolite and preoccupied. The wine was sour - as if it had been open a while. The meal, fettucini with shrimp was about 8 oz of pasta, a light yet bland sauce and four shrimp for $23. We tried letting the waitress know we had theater tickets and were giving her our timeline (75 minutes) as our salad arrived and she said: "not much I can do about that.....you'll probably be fine." No need to return to this place - dinner for 2 and two glasses of wine, $100.
I want to thank Tony again for accommodating my large group at a prime time on a Saturday night for dinner. He put us in our own room with dedicated servers. Everyone enjoyed their meals & experience.
It was Valentine's Day. Not too busy however, there was a private party in the back, so our service was super slow. Reservation at 8:45p. Seated at 8:45 pm. Received my appetizer soup at 9:40pm. Waiter was super nice and accommodating, but she just kept getting lost!
Always a pleasure to dine at Luna Del Sea. We try to visit everytime we go to Baltimore
Overpriced food. I’ve had better elsewhere and cheaper. Once we were seated, several waitresses and waiters walked past the table without stopping to see if we have been helped. Took about 20 minutes for someone to recognize us. Bread wasn’t brought out until after our appetizer. Small portions of food but priced as if they’re large.
I set a reservation for my family and I to celebrate that night out together. I had heard good reviews from a colleague at work. It was a mixed atmosphere and that the front was more of a bar casual setting and the back was more of the restaurant. Our server disappeared after the appetizers to smoke out back. Our food came out half cold. The side dish of broccoli that I ordered came out cold, on a hot plate, with a large chunk cut out as if the broccoli had been in bad shape and they tried to make it look better. I sent the broccoli back, and again came out cold, on a hot plate and now with butter on it. I was so angry that I stopped asking for anything other than the bill. It was a Friday night, so you'd think they would have their A-team working. Also, have way through the meal, there was someone jack hammering behind the wall. I was so disappointed. What I had hoped would be a celebration was a TERRIBLE experience and my family and I will never go back.
Seafood fettuccine was incredible. Loaded with seafood. Luna seafood chowder is a must.
Nice place, good place
1sr visit to this restaurant and was very happy w the service by Chaz. The food was fantastic and very good recommendations by Chaz when asked his opinions.
If you go ask for Heather or Tony, they will hook you up!
The waitress was outstanding -- I had never eaten whole steamed crab before, so she showed me how to get through the shell and brought out different dipping sauces for me to try. It made the whole experience so much better!
I went for the soup and I was not disappointed.
The service was not what I expected., not even for other customers that I noted.
The food was great. The service and atmosphere were fine. The meals were reasonably priced. We were there to celebrate a birthday and it would have been nice if the person we were celebrating had been offered a complimentary birthday dessert.
I was given an out of date menu with prices marked lower. When I questioned the prices, I was given the new menu. The food was ok, but very expensive for what you got. Paid $4.00 for a piece of broccoli. We were dining before a show and were very disappointed in the food and the prices. Don’t plan on returning.
Really enjoyed the crab cakes. The service was wonderful as well. Thank you!
The waitress was fantastic. She listened to my diet restrictions, talked to their chef and came back with an alternate dish. We had rock fish at lunch and salmon for dinner both were delicious.
Very good oysters on the half-shell!
First visit was phenomenal, second visit was mediocre.
Highly disappointed as I was looking to impress my husband.
Calimari appetizer was amazing, best crab cakes, and the crab mushroom pasta a knock out!
