Has potential. Good soup, appetizers. Main courses over priced... had mussels, excellent flavor but tiny mussels, some shells were empty.
The waitress, Kathy (or Cathy?) was friendly, responsive, helpful, and professional. Food wise, the crab cakes were outstanding! Need to invest some money in updating the physical environment.
They would not honor the happy hour specials posted on Open Table. Shrimp and garlic appetizer was very overcooked. We left without ordering any additional food. Restaurant was empty for a reason.
The food was great and we had a very nice time. However, we went back the next day and had the best crab cakes in the world!! We also enjoyed a delicious soup!
I was not very impressed with this restaurant. 3 out of 4 people did not get their correct order. An appetizer was never received as well. The waitress pushed us to get some dessert on the house, but then said she had to put it on the bill, but we wouldn't be charged for the appetizer (um why?). When asking for some wine recommendations, I was told that "price didn't matter, they're all good." Took a guess and received a good bottle, but some attention would have been nice. I was entertaining clients and was looking for a positive experience. It wasn't completely awful, but I feel we could have gotten a lot more value somewhere else.
I popped into this great little gem across from the Hilton....just looking for a great meal and a quiet place. Check! And Check! Bree took such great care of me - felt like I was a guest in her home! The outdoor patio isn’t fancy and is on a busy street- no matter, it was just right. Oysters - fresh and delicious! Seafood trio perfect! I really appreciate places like this - thanks!
best crab cakes ive ever had! only, very very very expensive. This restaurant had $$ on google, but it should have $$$$ because even though the food was good, everything was crazy expensive
Good, but pricey for the overall experience.
Crab cakes were way overpriced and the soup was not very good. Ambiance and service were nice.
The food was very good, you will get your monies worth. Just the pasta needs a little salt added.
Food was fantastic! Bree our server was exceptional!
Food was good, especially the crab cakes but way overpriced.
First of all my friend and I wanted to get the crab cakes but they were so huge we asked if we could share and they said yes. We just ordered an extra side. The food was very good but the restaurant itself needs a big overhaul. Very surprised when we walked in it looks more like a pizza parlor. Our waitress was very busy but she was very good and apologized that she wasn't getting to us quicker. We are from New Jersey so this was a vacation weekend with friends. My husband's got the bread platter and everything was excellent including the crab cakes.
Food is not worth the money. Bathrooms are gross. Not what you see online.
Food was not seasoned well. I would have at least expected cloth napkins considering the price. Service was pretty good.
I must say, I’ve been eating here for years and I’ve never had any complaints. The food is usually perfect and I’m always allowed to alternate my meal with no problem. When I decided to book a reservation for my Nephew’s birthday we were excited to find the restaurant basically empty. However, that did use no justice because we waited 50 minutes to order and another hour to receive our food. We received the appetizers with our main courses and I think that’s every diner’s pet peeve. The cook disappointed me to the fullest. This was my first time having bad food and in spite of all that went wrong, the waitress Robin is so sweet. She is always very nice and attentive. It pains me to write such a difficult review, but I’m hoping that it’s used in the most constructive way. I will be back!
Had a confirmed reservation through Open Table but was not on the hostess' list and had to pull up the email confirmation before she would seat us. Once seated, waited 45 minutes before the waitress took our drink and food orders even though repeatedly asked another server to get our waitress. Our food did not come out for another 45 minutes - it should not take that long for a salad and spaghetti with meatballs. Food was adequate but nothing special.
Had 5:30 reservation prior to 8 pm Billy Joel concert. Had to wait to be seated because they ran out of menus.
Quickly ordered drinks, 1 appetizer for the table and 4 entrees. Drinks & app came quickly. Finished drinks, no dinner & no waitress. People seated after us were being served dinner. 7:30 still no entrees. Hunted down waitress & was told our entrees were not coming. Left with no dinner. When we said we were leaving, the waitress was amazingly prompt with the bar bill. Will never go back!
We waited 1.5 hours for our food, which was mediocre at best and very pricey. For the same price, go to Rec chop House at the Pendry
Was disappointed. Food was ok, not great and definitely not worth the price point. Place was clean and relatively quiet. Service was lacking.
We wanted a sea food experience for our quick trip to Baltimore! We got it in spades! Family owned and operated and it showed!! We got our fill of Maryland style crab and shrimp with a wonderful server who showed us the best way to break the craps open and not look like the hacks that we are! Just go you will love it!!!
My wife and I had dinner before a show at the Hippodrome. It was a quiet Sunday afternoon even after an Orioles game. The food was outstanding. We had a cold seafood app, soft shells and crab cakes. This is an expensive place for food and drinks but the food is worth it. Service was somewhat off. At times slow, she brought out the wrong entree and had to take back. When we reorder drinks she brought out the wrong drinks. Worth trying again sometime.
Our food was cold after we waited for an hour and 15 to 20 minutes to get it. When we asked the manager about it they simply wanted to heated in the microwave instead of re-cooking our food. You cannot heat seafood in the microwave and expected to come out as quality food.
Worked to get us in and out quickly so we could make it to a show at the Hippodrome.
The Seafood Imperial I had was exceptionally good. I tasted my husband’s Cream of Crab Soup and that was very good as well. Both dishes had huge pieces of lump crabmeat! My brother had the Chicken Imperial and said his food was tasty too. Friendly staff, good food and only a few short blocks from The Hippodrome so you can park once and walk to both. This was a great downtown find in Yelp by my husband. I highly recommend this restaurant. The interior wasn’t what I expected but I plan to return.
Our server Carli was amazing knowledgeable and suggested great items and options
We had a great experience at Luna Del Sea! Our server Bri was amazing - great customer service, very attentive, recommended some great options, and kept us taken care of. This was a perfect pre-show dinner on our trip to Baltimore!
On your arrival at first glance you are not sure what to expect as the bar is a predominant feature and tables and chairs are kind of spread out. Then you get this warm welcome and the food was unexpectedly delicious, we had a side salad, salmon, shrimp, and pasta all came up reasonably well. The feel was clean, neat and tasty. It all left a nice feel; and impression on us and the bill wasnot too heavy on the pocket. I believe the owners are the ones working there so you expect every always to run smooth.
As always a terrific dining experience. Recommend highly
Several tables were unbussed for the entire time we were there. Floor was not swept.
We had seen a show at the Hippadrome. We wanted to eat nearby. This was the perfect option.
When you arrive it is not clear at all where the hostess stand is. We had reservations and were helped immediately but we were seated near the hostess stand and there was a lot of chaos and other people had to stand there for a while before anyone acknowledged them. While the menu was extensive it was not at all interesting. Very basic offerings and nothing that wowed us in the descriptions. The bread came out and it was standard US Foods basic rolls and the butter was in square foil packages, individually wrapped. As a first impression that was not a good one. However, when our appetizer of Calamari came out it tasted great. The sauce was a perfect compliment, it was fresh and cooked to perfection. It took a while for our second round of drinks to come out and the waitress completely forgot about my husband's second beer. He ordered the Seafood Platter and I ordered a Salmon Fettuccine (with modifications and they nailed it, spot on to what I wanted). Both were excellent. Cooked perfectly, tasted great, I would recommend. However, as a whole I would not say the restaurant is worth the high price of the meal. At this price point I would have expected cloth napkins but instead received disposable ones that were tied onto the silverware with a paper wrap. The server did comp my glass of wine due to slow service (we never complained, it really wasn't too bad at all), so at least that shows good customer service and the desire to give good service.
The food was excellent. I had the seafood pasta and it was full of seafood!
Overpriced food, our crab cakes were loaded with shells. Staff didn’t seem to care about our complaint.
Restaurant didn't open on time. It's listed to open at 11:00 on Sunday. I arrived at 11:05 and it's closed. I had to eat elsewhere. I don't know why OpenTable indicated I'm "seated".
Luna Del Sea is our families favorite restaurant in Baltimore. They really have the best crab cakes as well as great steak and other seafood options.
Food was outstanding: crab balls were excellent. Also enjoyed a caprese salad and red Zinfandel. We went for dinner at 7:30 pm. We sat outside where it was cooler, because the restaurant had not turned on its A/C, which was ridiculous on the day before the Preakness when the temp was in the 80s. Bartender/server, Carleen, was fantastic. While we dined out doors on the sidewalk, we heard/saw a couple of ambulances, helicopter, motorcycle gang, and horse-drawn carriage. It would have been more elegant and quiet to sit inside.
For the price listed the portion was very small. We ordered the stuffed shrimp with crab.
Drove down to Baltimore for the wknd for seafood. Went to Luna del Sea because I went a few yrs ago. Remember the ambiance to be a little better that last night. We got there sort of late (10:30) and we sat down and noticed that there was food on the floor that hadn't been picked up or swept up. Chairs were mix matched and it really didnt have an identity. We ordered shrimp and crab imperial and crab imperial which was very tasty. Lump crab meat was excellent but the only downfall to the meal was I was spitting out shells the entire meal. They need to do a better job cleaning the crab meat before serving the food to customers.
Overall I would go back and get it again. Nice location and sits right on the harbor with outdoor seating if it's nice out.
I would recommend this place for the food not the indoor ambiance.
