Everything is always amazing! This place never disappoints. One of my favorites in town!
Great food and Excellent service are a trademark of LUNA BLUE!
My wife and I often come to Annapolis for music concerts and Luna Blu is conveniently located across the street from Rams Head Annapolis, a great concert venue. The concert was canceled this time but this gave us the leisure to try Luna Blu’s four-course special. We missed Erin, our usual “hostess with the mostest” at Luna Blu but we did have the pleasure of having Allyson as our server. Allyson was friendly and welcoming and her professionalism made our dinner an evening to remember. Each course was outstanding from the mouth-watering appetizers to the wonderful desserts and Allyson made sure that each course was perfectly timed. If you are looking for great service and delicious Italian food in Annapolis, you’ll definitely want to visit Luna Blu! Perhaps, we’ll see you there.
Great food and excellent service. Great Groupon menu. What a great find. We will be back
Restaurant interior looks nothing like the online photos... tiny tables crammed into a nearly windowless dining room. Restaurant made us feel claustrophobic & they only serve pizza in the dining area on Thursdays. We ended up ordering takeout (crab & shrimp pizza). Sadly, it left us underwhelmed. We will not be back and would not recommend this place to anyone. Complete waste of time and money!
The reviews on this restaurant were mostly positive so we gave it a try. We were visiting Annapolis and it was Saturday night, but I guess we had missed even the late-dining phase as we were the only table at 10PM (it's an early-ish dinner town.) The restaurant accepted our 1015PM reservation, although when we arrived, the tables were all cleared, they had all the lights on and seemed a little offput by us showing up. We were the only table. The server was curt, and efficient, respectful but not quite friendly. The also had nice music in the background, but unfortunately at such a low volume that it was overshadowed by the loud telephone conversation coming in from the kitchen by the server (who we surmise is also mgmt.), concerning supplies, ordering, and other matters. I guess we should have been thankful to get food, but if you don't want to deal with or serve late diners, then don't accept late reservations, right?
Notwithstanding, the food is very good (although the calamari was a little overcooked/chewy) the flavors were original. The olive oil is off the charts good and the bread was warm and toasty. Our fish-- a local rockfish-- was fresh and tasty too. We were especially and positively impressed by their selections of wines by the HALF-Bottle, a nice option if you want just a smidgen more than a single glass each, and the wines listed were of note.
The tasting menu is open-ended (you can choose from apps, entrees, and desserts) and a superb value, although we were not so hungry as to take advantage of, it seems a wonderful option.
Gluten-free dining is not so much a novelty but somewhat more of a challenge with Italian dining establishments. Here the solution to providing gluten-free options is to not offer gluten-free pasta, but vegetable substitutes. This was a little disappointing but not a deal-breaker.
We'd come here again, when next in Annapolis, not as late, when hopefully the dinner service and ambiance is more inviting.
The food here was amazing! Fresh, fabulous and left us all wanting to lick the plates. The seafood and pasta were so tasty. They accommodated for kid size portions and the baby traveling with us. I’m gluten free and found the menu very friendly without having to substitute anything! Will be returning
This last visit to Luna Blue was just perfect with the service being much better than the last visit. We like to dine at Luna Blu prior to concerts at the Ramshead across the street, where the menu has really deteriorated. I absolutely love their calamari appetizer because it is not the trite serving of deep-fat fried breaded squid circles; their serving is of simply cooked squid in an absolutely wonderful, spicy red sauce. The squid is chewey - the way it is supposed to be - and much more flavorful. Our pasta appetizers were delicious and ample. I usually get just a glass of the wine because of the long night ahead and driving but one night I'll be able to enjoy something more from their tantalizing wine list. Luna Blue is a gem for us who must drive over an hour for both dinner and the concerts.
The wait staff is always fabulous and the food was terrific. Great day date spot.
We love Luna Blu! One of our favorite restaurants in Annapolis. The service is great and the food is delicious! The place is small, so make a reservation
Wow. That was good. Great food, well priced. An Annapolis gem.
It was our 36th anniversary. We go there maybe once a month or maybe a little less. But Erin greeted us with a warm”Happy Anniversary” and seated us in the window table as requested. She took good care of us too. Made a good recommendation for both the aperitif and also the bottle of Super Baby Tuscan. I really like their wine list with a good range of types and prices. For the starter, had the Lumache all Luna (escargots and mushrooms in a tomato cream sauce in a puff pastr). Fabulous! My wife went with the mussels in saffron sauce, which looked so good, but she didn’t offer me any! Salads were a REAL Caesar and, I forget the name, but arugula with a bruschetta topping and dressed with balsamic. Our entrees were both evening specials. She had the shrimp and asparagus risotto and I had the braised beef and veal torticelli (think large tortellini). Unlike many stuffed pastas elsewhere, you could really taste and savor the meats in the torticelli. Finish it off with chocolate mousse and the limoncello ice with cappuccino. The food and the service are why we go here. We closed the place on Tuesday!
Special four course deal is fantastic. Excellent spot for dining before shows at nearby Rams Head On Stage. Very creative with seasonal items like current watermelon salad.
Father's Day Brunch
We have passed by Luna Blu many times and finally decided to try it for dinner. It is a nice little cozy restaurant and everyone is very friendly. The owner is also a server and very hands-on which is quite good. When it comes to the value and quality, I think there is a lot to be desired. The food, in our opinion, is casual dining quality at fine dining prices. With all the other restaurants in the area, especially those that serve Italian food, we figured this would be quite good given that it specializes in Italian cuisine. There are much better restaurants in the area, in this price point, that have better food. The drinks were quite good and they were not cheap with the alcohol. That being said, we left rather underwhelmed.
Service was excellent food was delicious and staff very friendly.
This place never ceases to deliver. Menu selections are great, service is attentive, food is prompt and prepared as promised.
We dined on a Groupon and asked our daughter to join us to celebrate her birthday. Lots of choices for a prix fix menu. We enjoyed shrimp and asparagus risotto. My husband had the tortellini. All very good but the Zaglione (dessert) was just divine! My daughter and I shared that while my husband enjoyed tiramisu cake.
Luna Blu never disappoints. Great food, good service. Great for before or after a theatre event.
The food was delicious and the waitress did a great job!
Do not bring small kids here! There is no room for strollers to go through the hallway or in their small seating area. The waitress reluctantly made room for us. There is no kids menu. We went for a Sunday lunch and there was one waitress for the whole restaurant who was unfriendly to our party. Good food though.
Great food, great service even though there was a late evening rush and limited staff.
The staff is very attentive and professional. The food was very good with one exception - the angel hair pasta came out overcooked. I know it's easy to overcook angel hair because it's so thin, but the fact that it broke while twirling detracted from the excellent accompaniment.
The other items were all done very well, including the tiramisu, which (unlike many others at other restaurants) did not come out soggy with espresso.
First experience was a positive one from the cozy atmosphere, staff, cuisine and wine options. Definitely will be back.
We arrived late, but the owner was amazing and made it work. First time visiting and we will absolutely be back!!
Erin always make you feel that you are her number one customer. Food is consistently delicious.
Mother's Day lunch. Food was excellent. Bread was hot and fresh. Service was prompt and friendly. We will definitely go back!
The service was fantastic. The wine was fabulous (red blend, don’t quite remember name but it was 20% Syrah). The martini was tasteless. The fish soup was perfectly seasoned and hearty enough as an entree. The seafood scampi linguini lacked flavor but the serving of lobster and seafood were substantial. We would not recommend it and would not order it again. My spicy mozzarella pasta dish was superb—I ordered it with shrimp. The tiramisu was a bit different as it had chocolate chips throughout. It tasted fresh and surprising, in a good way. Overall it was a nice dinner...just unreliable with taste.
My wife and I have dined there several times and we really enjoy the food, the service, and the ambiance. We will be back.
The food is exceptional from appetizers to dessert. I highly recommend the 4 course dinner special where you select from the entire menu versus a limited selection...more than one can eat but take home is available and so good to enjoy again! 1/2 price bottle wine nights are a must!
Our overall experience will have us coming back. Food and atmosphere was good.
Excellent food plentiful portions, dessert awesome!
2 couples went for dinner early and all was perfect to later when restaurant filled up and noise level became an issue. Great Food and hood service. Not necessarily a quick dining experience.
This was our third times while visiting Annapolis, and they kept their quilty, quantity, and service at a high level that we will repeat again. Soon.
Luna Blu is one of our "go to" spots in Annapolis. The food is wonderfully prepared, and the service is top shelf. Excellent wine menu. Highly recommend for a date night.
Great service and food, loved the atmosphere and service! Little noisy but quickly calmed down.
Opentable noted that Luna Blu was noted for good service and they were true to their word. I believe our waitress' name was Maddie and she did a great job getting food, drinks and check to us in a timely manner.
The interior of Luna Blu is European(ish) with a small dining area with maybe ten tables which felt relatively cozy without being squished. I had the zuppa de pesce which was spot on with a little spice and a rich red broth--loved it. My main course was the Linguini alla Vongole (clams) which was FABULOUS--I am salivating just thinking about it.
PRO-TIP: Pay $3 and have them add pancetta to your the dish-well worth it!
My beautiful wife had the Veal Picatta which she liked but thought it could have done with about half as much sauce (it was pretty drenched)--particularly since it's served with angel hair pasta which doesn't hold up as well to heavy sauces. So if you don't like heavy sauces, you should just ask for them to use about half the normal sauce. If you like heavier sauces you are in luck.
My old-fashioned was spot-on too and my wife have a lovely crisp white.
Great for Baltimore people headed to Rams Head , across the street .
