There is a bamboo bar with hanging colored blowfish lamps, which serves the best drinks in town, waiters greet you donning colorful Hawaiian shirts creating the ambience and setting of an evening in Polynesian paradise.
Have gone there many times and been satisfied. This time there was a hair in my food. It was replaced with a new dish with no argument. Hopefully, they will adjust their kitchen discipline so it will not happen again.
I have been coming here since I was a child in the 70's. It has hardly changed and I mean this in the best sense. The kitchy tiki decor, the drinks in fresh coconuts and pineapples with lil umbrellas are fabulous. If ur of drinking age the drinks are amazing. I love bringing people here for the 1st time.
I will be back next time Elvis comes.
So, my wife booked a table at 6:30 PM this past Saturday because it showed availability at this time. She booked the slot a half hour before our reservation. When we got there we were informed there were no tables available, and there were 3 families ahead of us and it would be an hour wait. The owner said he could not honor our reservation because it was only booked 30 minutes ago. Apparently he checked us in on Open Table anyway. We left because we were not going to wait an hour when we had a reservation. One of the patrons leaving said we were better off because the food was only ok and very expensive.
Dinner with my husband, father, & brother-in-law. Pu-pu platter is always amazing. Actually had to take most of our dinner to go since we had filled up with the appetizer. Service is always great.
Lots of fun; great decor, good food, warm service!
I have been coming here since I was a child. I am 47 and still love coming here. The foil wrapped chicken is my favorite. Pu pu platter is almost always my go to. The drinks are hardcore. Love a boozey Mai tai.
Hubby and I enjoyed an evening at our reliable favorite. We've both been coming to Lun Wah since the 70's and will continue to do so when in the area. There have been a few changes since the new ownership, but the food is still consistently good. Our favorites are the barbecued beef cubes, fried rice, spare ribs, roast pork egg foo young, pupu platters … and the Chinese fried noodles on the table! We are spoiled by the size of the noodles. Other restaurants' versions pale in comparison.
Didn't even acknowledge the birthday celebration and all food, soup appetizers and dinner entrees came out at the same time.
Had our Thursday date night. Marco provided exceptional service for our Chinese food fix. Moo shu was a little different than previous times, but ok. Hubby's ribs were delicious, as always. Nice evening.
Love the Lun Wah for the atmosphere, prices & drinks (they don't skimp). This particular time I was a bit put off because I think they should have had more staff working. They only had one side open & they had a lot of people & things took longer than they should have because of that. I even had to cancel a cocktail (not the server's fault). But if you're looking for a bit of Polynesian fun (who can resist the colored blowfish above the bar & the tiki huts), go!
Great service. Great drinks! Nuff said.
I finally found a place that I can see being a regular hangout. The food was fantastic and the ambiance was fun and drinks incredible. We will definitely be going back!
A throwback to the old Polynesian style Tiki Bars and restaurants! No disappointment! Terrific drinks, great food and amazing ambiance and decor!
The food was lousy but the setting was awesome our waiter was super slow and forgot a lot of things the drinks were ok but overpriced compared to the value the only thing that kept us there was the trivia game the trivia host was fun and energetic
Fun atmosphere. One of the best polynesian places along with Lee's around the tri-state area
Came here for Valentine's Day. Our waiter was great. The food was even better. Love this place!
It's been a while since I've been here but it's like stepping back in time. The ambiance is tropical and the food is still excellent. The service is great and our waitperson "B" was fantastic. Coming here after all these years brought back some nice memories. If you have never been here I ask " What are you waiting for?" I definitely won't wait long to come back again.
Great food, prompt service, great value. What else could you want from a local spot that has been around for years?
We went for New Year's Eve, a very popular night for Lun Wah, which serves delicious Chinese cuisine in a place loaded with Polynesian decor. We made sure we made reservations. We waited less than ten minutes for our booth. The place was jammed with early revelers (our reservations were at 7:30), but our waiter was attentive and quick. The specialty drinks are incredibly tasty - and strong. The vegetable dumplings were well-prepared and full of filling. We each tried a different dish and shared. All were tasty, with generous portions of meat and/or seafood, vegetables, and delicious sauces. The green tea ice cream was a great finish. I recommend this place to anyone who enjoys well-prepared Chinese food.
We hadn't been here in years, in it was just as we remembered it. The food is well prepared, wonderful portions, and the service is attentive. Great value!!!
Been going to LunWah for over 40 years. Consistently good. BBQ Beef Cubes are my absolute favorites! Service is always good.
Enjoyed dinner here for a memorable girls night out! Great atmosphere, excellent food and drinks, fabulous service!!! Can't wait to return!
The food was decent, except for the roast pork fried rice. Tasted like it had been sitting for days. Very dry and tasteless. The server brought the wrong food to our table the first time, but quickly corrected that. She was very pleasant, but was distracted by the people next to us. The most disappointing part was that the couple next to us has frequent visitors from the bar. For almost the entire meal, this rather large woman, was standing in the aisle with her rear end pointing at me. I was going to say something, but looking at this group decided that it might not be the best course to take. Bottom line is I will never return to this restaurant. The manager/owners need to be more attentive to what is going on at their establishment.
This place is a blast from the past. Great drinks bring dd so you can enjoy the drinks.
Had a nice meal in this strip mall Polynesian themed restaurant/tiki bar. Food was tasty and the service was attentive. The decor takes you to another land and makes it a fun experience. I was told that Thursday night is Karaoke night and judging by the Friday night bar scene it probably is a fun time. Definitely is a local favorite because it seemed that the wait staff knew everyone except for me by their first name. Don't let the exterior turn you away. It's a strip mall and it's a little dated but once inside I don't think you'll be disappointed.
A lot of fun with an authentic Polynesian experience - a must try.
We went there for dinner and it was a good experience. The drinks were great and inventive. The staff was fantastic, very friendly, water always filled. The food was good, the dish I ordered had the duck fried ( which I did not know) otherwise it tasted good.
Portions Are Smaller but still great food. Pineapple drinks still the best value. We love the funkiness of it.
This place is like going back in time. Where else can you order a pu pu platter these day and the tropical drinks too. Fun place.
I ate here once with a bunch of friends. We were extremely hungry and wanted a quick bite and we came upon this gem on opentable. This place was great, the menu was great. We did family style dinner and it was delicious. The portions were big and we couldn't finish all the food. It was a fun time.
Waiters have always been friendly and cordial all the years we have been going there.
I've driven past this place many times and had no idea there was an actual tiki bar hidden in that plaza til i got a coupon for it. The service was really good, food was great, and drinks even better. Definitely will be back.
Fun atmosphere, good food and bar. Only disappointment was they would not accept opentable points redemption check.
The place was great! Food was excellent and ambiance was awesome. The not so great part was definitely our waiter. He was rude and standoffish which doesn't bother me too much, you want to be rude have fun, but don't expect a 20% tip. He seemed frustrated that we wanted to box up the rest of our appetizer and at the end of the meal it took him roughly 20 minutes to come over and wrap our food and give is the bill. I will definitely be returning and just hoping I don't have the same waiter. Definitely recommend it for families and those with big appetites since the portions are huge!
Our waiter disappeared after taking our order. I wish I took his name. Never stopped by to ask how everything was. Very cold experience. Plus, when we went to pay our bill, they looked at the coupon for about 10 minutes. Very uncomfortable...
Great place to gather with friends for food and drinks! The drinks are amazing! The service is also great, very friendly!!
Great local place in Roselle for excellent Chinese and Polynesian food. Very Hawaiianesque type place. The Grand Mariner shrimp was outstanding! We got a pu pu platter for 4 which was very good. The Mai Tai's and Blue Hawaiian drinks were tasty. They do take out as well. Highly suggest you check this place out if you are looking for a fun night on with friends.
Great as always. Love those ribs and drinks in a pineapple .🍹
Great restaurant. Great service. Great food and drink. I'll be back...without a doubt!
Take a trip down memory lane for a place that time forgot. I have been coming here since I was a child and not much has changed. Tiki Bar, Godfish Pond, friendly service and excellant food. The spare ribs are some of the best I have ever had. Family atmosphere, nice quiet bar, and nice portions of fresh and well prepared food.
