Luminaria Restaurant & Patio
During the warmer months, dine outdoors on the rustic wood patio adjacent to the world-renowned Loretto Chapel. The food was excellent as was the service. And the weather was perfect as we sat outside and enjoyed brunch. I love going to Luminaria and plan to go back often.
Lovely brunch with family - food was delightfully surprising- the service was polite but they needed to be more attentive and not disappear. When they were around they were accommodating. I would recommend this restaurant for sure/ I just hope the service can stay at the patio area more than running back and forth into the hotel
Don’t know who the new chef is but food was delicious. Server was friendly and attentive. Highly recommend.
Poached eggs were underdone and cold. Service was excellent and the place is lovely. A bit overpriced but great location and free parking.
Very disappointed. Not like it used to be.
Lovely fish tacos.
We thoroughly enjoyed our brunch at Luminaria. The breakfast burrito is awesome. Well worth the drive from Albuquerque!
Had a $6 latte in a smallish cup and got charged additional $3 for a 1/3 cup warmup. Fruit plate was mediocre quality with white watermelon slices I wouldn't serve anyone. Great atmosphere, though.
Amazing breakfast Huevos Rancheros. Wait staff is very attentive, professional, and pleasant. Will definitely come back next time in Santa Fe!
Wonderful from start to finish. We sat on the patio and it was delightful. Service was very good as was Luminaria’s dinner menu and wine list. We shared the calamari which was prepared and fried with blue corn. We both had the excellent duck confit enchiladas. My wife had the churros for desert and I had the creme brûlée - both very good.
We will return.
Very nice outdoor dining area, waitstaff was fantastic, even with the sudden rainstorm. Food was above average. Basically an enjoyable dinner!
Did not have a good experience. The food was sub par, service was bad. Our food came in before our cocktails. Our evening was full of excuses and apologies on why the food was late and cold and why our drinks were late. I command our waiter who tried but they did not live to the expectations.
The food was not good. I think they serve the food but they probably never taste it.
Anyways. Sad and disappointed. I’ll just live it there.
The best outdoor patio in town by far. Menu is a bit limited, but okay.
We usually avoid Santa Fe hotel restaurants...and we should have done this time too. Luminaria terrace is a a delightful spot: tucked way behind the Loretto Chapel. Our reservation was for noon...we ate our lunch at 1:20PM. Our server was used to this ridiculous state of affairs. She told us "It's the kitchen. Please don't be mad." We were mad with the manager who we had to track down hiding at at the back of the indoor dining room. The food when it came was poorly cooked. We were told there would be no charge...clearly they have to do this often because it was an almost rote response. Another local restaurant ticked off our list.
Amazing breakfast! The staff was great!
The location is fabulous and the sunset was beautiful. Very romantic spot!
The ambience is gorgeous, however, our service was terrible. We waited almost 2 hours for our meal while everyone around us got their food and even ate and left. When we inquired, they said it was because we got an appetizer. We shared one appetizer and our daughter got nothing. The manager finally came over and apologized and offered us a free dessert. He said food was forthcoming. After another 30 minutes, no food and the manager then gave us a glass of wine. My branzino was very good. My husband's pork chop was cold.
I understand everyone is trying to recover from the pandemic but it was our waiter’s first day and the bartender kept yelling at him where we could hear.
The service was extremely slow and then, some people who knew the chef came in and the chef came and greeted them and visibly comped them an appetizer in front of us while charging me $1.50 for extra dressing which I request in restaurants all over the country and have never been charged.
Overall, the food was great but I was not impressed by the actions of the restaurant. The manager came out and checked on that same table and never asked about our experience which was not going well nor was that table’s. My guess is tourists are a large part of your business but you won’t be getting any recommendations from me.
Best place ever for locals and tourists to enjoy..food, patio dining or indoor dining. Great atmosphere.
Went for my wife’s 50th birthday and I put it in the notes when making the reservation. She was not acknowledged what so ever about her birthday.
Food was good but it was a long wait to get our entree. Kitchen was understaffed. Meal was pretty pricey. Recommend the watermelon salad and the Caesar salad. Also, the burger with green chili was delicious.
Excellent food and service. Yes, I would recommend Luminaria to friends.
We had a lovely brunch outside, great service, and gluten free options.
Enjoyed brunch on the patio. Service seems to have improved significantly, thanks!
No vegetarian options or very few
Overrated. Attention to detail is missing. Short staffed. My husband and I stayed at the Inn at Loretto for one night and ate at Luminaria for two meals. There is a lot of hype about it being a world class restaurant and it is barely adequate. You will wait quite a while for your food. The blue corn calamari is simply awful. My husband had a Caesar salad with grilled chicken which was comparable to the one at Denny’s. I had the duck mole enchiladas and they tasted like a headshop. Seriously I think the main spice was nag champa. We had the flourless chocolate torte for dessert and it was delicious and they made decaf coffee, which was also very good. In the spirit that maybe we ordered the least good things in the menu and we were there anyway, we returned for breakfast the next day. My husband had scrambled egg whites, breakfast potatoes and bacon. It’s hard to screw up a 1-ingredient dish, and they didn’t. It was nicely plated and served hot and everything was tasty. I went for the Luminaria Benedict and it was delicious. Until I found my first eggshell. And then my second. I would have just ignored it if these were tiny incidental pieces but each one was the size of my thumbnail. Gross. They did me a solid by taking the Benedict off the bill and I ordered (and paid for) a side of bacon to replace it. There’s a lot of potential in this restaurant if they can get it together. Covid has made everything weird, restaurants are understaffed and often the staff they have are new or untrained. Luminaria might be suffering from this a bit. But as a customer I see indifferent service, high prices on weird badly prepared food and just think “nope.” Enjoy the bar, have some dessert, but celebrate your special occasion somewhere else.
I stayed at the hotel and had quite a few meals here. Everything was delicious. Staff was so nice and accommodating to my commandeering a table when it wasn’t busy to get work done in the morning while eating breakfast. The portions are large and the coffee is strong! The patio is quite lovely but inside is nice too if it is too hot (or rainy).
Very impressed with patio area, absolutely beautiful! Food was ver good and nice sized portions. Service was slower than expected., since they were not at full capacity.
Food was really good. Service was inadequate. Attention to table was sporadic. Too way too long to get food.
Completely ignored that we had mentioned it was our anniversary.
Lovely ambiance and great food
Waiters need to pay attention service was poor. Sat outside and forgotten
Love the patio - the food was wonderful! We were celebrating 2 brides and it was the perfect ambiance.
Good overall. Service was slow but they kept us informed on the kitchen delay. Wonderful outside atmosphere!!
Not crowded and bar was super super slow. $10 Mimosas were 90% OJ. Had to oder glasses of $12 champagne to mix with our $10 OJ. The bar just took forever to get basic drinks ready.
The menu was not labeled properly which caused us a lot of stress and an unwelcome comment by the manager which we did not appreciate. She blamed us for the menu not being correct. Otherwise the ambience was great, food very good at a good value. Waiter honest and attentive to our needs.
Had a wonderful meal - nice and flavorful. The scallops melted in your mouth. Service was a bit slow but actually a nice relaxing evening and a great break from the frantic pace of some of the other restaurants. Will definitely be back!
There were errors with our order, incorrect item and undercooked hamburger. They did fix the issues and the manager came and spoke with us. He was extremely nice! We understand it’s hard to get back up to speed after a shut down. We had a table under the covering which was beautiful and the weather cooled off nicely. They did not rush us and we had a relaxing evening.
Service was unengaged, unprofessional and slow. I understand restaurants are struggling now. But at a high-end restaurant you should at least say hello to me. Felt like I was in a diner.
Beautiful evening under the stars. Working out some kinks, but the effort is earnest.
