Luminaria Restaurant & Patio
During the warmer months, dine outdoors on the rustic wood patio adjacent to the world-renowned Loretto Chapel. At twilight, dine al fresco under the stars, transform the high desert into a romantic veranda draped and tented with flowering vines and luxurious flowing fabrics lit by hanging lanterns.
Everything about our fine evening meal was superb - from the order for a Blood Orange Cosmo to not be too sweet (it was perfect!), to the warm bread, to the halibut cooked as beautifully as I've ever had halibut cooked, to the friendly service. I highly recommend dining here in the restaurant's contemporary "Santa Fe style."
Free valet parking, lovely atmosphere, very good food but pricey, excellent service.
Great food. Great service.
Romantic restaurant, southwestern twist on restaurant dining favorites. We loved the roasted shisito peppers, Chile relleno served so elegantly. Attentive service, and enjoyed the milk and cookies desert with a roll of chocolate as a guest thank. Fireplace flickering and Luminaria lights on the wall lend a warm, cozy ambience
Food was great; quiet night although tables filled up later on. Our waitress, Melissa, was wonderful. We really enjoyed her. Only flaw was internet going down so had to wait a bit longer than we wanted for our bill to be completed.
Excellent dinner and service. Best meal I had in Santa Fe.
The biscuits were the best I’ve had in New Mexico. The gravy was delicious. Scrambled eggs were perfect. Did not care for the house made sausage with green chili, It was way too greasy. Delicious coffee and a wonderful view.
Obviously this is a review of breakfast
Attentive waitstaff, but we also had time alone, too. Food and presentation wonderful for 5 outta the 6 meals. Noise level was minimal and the fireplace was a nice touch.
Fabulous in every way for celebrating our 45th wedding anniversary, including free dessert.
Lovely complimentary champagne. Great short ribs. Lovely private table for anniversary.
Gorgeous location and comfortable, intimate seating. Service was excellent as was the food!
We were celebrating our 50th wedding anniversary.
we were treated with rose petals on the table ; a toast and a complimentary dessert.
The server was fantastic and the food was excellent.
We hope to return soon!
First the Caesar salad had no anchovies. Waiter went to the kitchen and came back with a plate of maybe ½ anchovy cut up. The same two of our party ordered the Parisian Gnocchi which if done correctly should be a fluffy gnocchi lightly crusted outside in brown butter. Instead, this gnocchi was deep fried, served almost cold with very nice hot veggies on top. The taste was simply awful. One likened them to fried tater tots with no flavor. One ate the veggies and the other finished the dish because we had been running all day and he was hungry but not very pleased and he was sick in the middle of the night. The waiter claimed he asked us how we liked the food shortly after it was served but, in fact, he did not. It would have been obvious with the one plate left with a pile of fried gnocchi taken away by the bus boy if he had even observed us during the meal. When he finally came with the desert menus, he was appalled to find we were unhappy about the gnocchi and said "Since it has been on the menu, there have been no complaints". He did take the one dish off the bill but missed the point entirely. Neither our friends or we are complainers and started asking why the Gnocchi was deep fried as it was terrible. Just having moved to Santa Fe, this is one restaurant we will not be returning to or taking any guests. Having a wonderful experience the following night, elsewhere, we also realized how overpriced the food was at Luminaria for what was served.
The Luminaria patio is so beautiful and cozy. You almost feel like you are inside except that you have the beautiful foliage all around and the sunshine is there but not right on you. So tranquil.
This is a little hidden gem of a patio dining experience. Food is very good but the wait staff a bit inexperienced. Some tables were loud so we had to move due to noise. But overall a nice place to dine and very good good, my salmon was excellent
Good meal, fabulous service, pretty good value. Heaters on the patio would be a plus.
Wonderful restaurant - truly delicious food, and lovely outdoor dining space. Parking made simple with convenient valet in front of the hotel. Our only issue was the length of time the meal took, we sat down at 7:15 and didn’t leave until just before 9:30. If you’re not in any hurry and don’t mind the wait between courses, the lengthy dining experience won’t be an issue. Just seemed like we waited 10 mins too long for everything.
We visited Luminaria after finding it on Open Table. It is a beautiful restaurant! The food was unique and excellent--especially the tortilla soup!
Our waitress was great. She was very friendly and took time to talk with us before we ordered. Her suggestions were excellent and we had a great time!
The problem that I always have with this beautiful restaurant, is the lack of attentive service. It might be that they are understaffed, but it does take a while for the food to come out. Once it does though, it’s delightful and delicious
The food was mediocre to poor. The ambiance was good, The service was excellent. But I mostly want good food so that's why I wouldn't recommend it.
I am a local in Santa Fe and I love to go to Luminaria because I feel like I am "somewhere else". It's so lovely and such a hidden gem in the midst of downtown Santa Fe. I love to take out of town friends there and love to take my local buddies, who've often no idea it's there. Such a treat to sit out in their open air, covered patio and hear the cathedral bells when they ring. My favorite lunch spot ever!
The food was delicious and presented beautifully. Our server was friendly and shared some local ideas with us for the area.
The atmosphere was romantic and the evening was warm enough to enjoy our meal outside. The lights weren't on however it was still a bit light out.
They knew we were celebrating our anniversary so they placed rose pedals on the table. Very thoughtful.
Great local. The outdoor seating is nice. Food is good, so does service.
Very bad service. Felt like server didn’t want us there. Messed up order so bad we left before ordering main course. Told server wanted to order wine but they took wine list away. Had to leave since we were treated so poorly
One of the loveliest patios in Santa Fe. I highly recommend it for a quiet, relaxed and delicious lunch. The staff is competent and attentive and the food is quite good, with a nice selection of choises.
We were traveling and looking for ambience and outdoor dining our last night in Santa Fe. Was the perfect choice. Our server was so warm and friendly. Also great with recommendations for us on food and drink. She treated us like we were the only people in the restaurant and it was a very busy night. Can’t wait to return!
Was delish. Gnocchi were great. Tortilla soup very good. Caprese salad very good. We ate outdoors which was gorgeous. Would return in a heartbeat.
Ate in the patio at 8 pm. The last one in.
Had pork belly which waiter stalled salmon seviche. Was chopped raw salmon, sweet onion & crema. Very good served with interesting chips. Split a green salad. Excellent dressing! Very good. Pork loin was excellent. Perfectly cooked ( rare) & gnocchi which was fried & really good.
Very good meal.
We made reservations for our anniversary. Requested a table on the patio. When we arrived they told us we couldn’t sit on the patio due to inclement weather. There was a storm threatening earlier, but it had cleared and the weather was beautiful. We didn’t argue, but told them we would go elsewhere to dine outdoors, to which they were indifferent. Too bad for Luminaria, you just lost a long time customer, who will no longer recommend you to others...bad business 101.
lovely spot 1 of my favorites , i am a concierge and send guest there often
Chef-centric menu featuring local flavors and creative interpretations. Solid culinary skills from this team. Chef was picking fresh herbs and flowers from patio planters for garnishes and interacting with guests during service. Very hospitable and knowledgeable front of house staff.
Service was good just exceptionally slow
Very nice patio. Food was outstanding. The fruit was fresh and the cottage cheese pancakes were very good.
Food is not very good. It used to be one of our favorites; we live in SF and have many options for dining. Best patio in SF buu food was disappointing
Although the food I received was divine, many of my guests received incorrect orders or the food arrived cold. Also, our waitress was very rude. When requests were made, she was absent for long periods of time, forgot who requested what and just didn't seem interested in serving our table. We weren't a rude or rambunctious group but received less than satisfactory service. I was completely shocked when we asked to address our service with management and was told he was too busy to speak to us. I don't personally plan to return here.
The food was mediocre and the service was awful. The only redeeming feature of this restaurant is the patio. With so many good restaurants in Santa Fe, I would skip this one.
Food was excellent and the patio is lovely. However, the woman who took our drink and food order (at the same time), failed to order our drinks. We didn't see her again throughout the evening and it was another server who took our drink order, when our food arrived.
Nice patio setting. Food great had the biscuits and gravy and eggs Benedict. Food was great and very flavorful with good Southwest taste you would expect in Santa Fe. Staff very accommodating and attentive had a great time.
Waiter cleared my plate before I finished eating. Not as good as it used to be
