Dressler's Restaurant - Metropolitan (Midtown)
What a delightful find!! We started with drinks/wine and yummy complimentary gougeres and mini beef Wellington. On to delightful salad course(thanks for using local strawberries...what a difference)! The highlight was the bouillabaisse. OMG all the fish/seafood was cooked to perfection and the broth, amazing!! We will be back. Thanks!!
Brunch was excellent ! Three courses for $25 and well worth it. I had the corn chowder with lobster, Croque Madame, and the pecan pie. My daughter got the strawberry salad, blueberry french toast and the bread pudding. All were excellent and very filling . Wonderful service and a very pleasant way to enjoy a Sunday brunch. The menu had several offerings in each category.
I want to go back and try some of the other items.
Our food was divine and the space was energized but not too loud. Great experience , though they need to DIM THE LIGHTS . Would be more romantic and appealing!
Food and value was suburb. We had an excellent Dover soul I thought reasonable for 35 dollars since it is a rarity. Only did not give it all stars for service because there was some mixup in the kitchen and we had a long wait for the food. However, the wait staff compensated beautifully comping the wine , giving us some extra morsals , even gave us an extra salad - we had ordered one to share. Both salads were exceptional ( the beet salad to die for and also the one w comprare tomatoes , asparegas etc) .We also shared soft shell crabs sautéed perfectly , crunchy without too much covering which is how I like them. The meal was a real treat ! And truly the wait staff were very attentive and deserved 5 stars- don’t know what happened in the kitchen but “things Happen” and the extras from the wait staff plus the quality of the food, wiped out any ill will.I can’t wait to go again!
There is little doubt that for fine dining, this is one of the top 5 restaurants in Charlotte. The service is always efficient and friendly. For a French style restaurant, there are no airs or attitude. The menu is very varied and something for everyone. The pricing is reasonable for the type of restaurant it is. During the week, there are specials, which for food quality and value it can’t be beat. Last week I went in for lobster night. Lobster bisque, a lobster salad and then lobster tail and vegetables. Wow—all for $40.
You don’t need a special occasion to dine during the week.
Best French food in all of CLT.
Unfortunately for the price this restaurant underperformed. The wine list was overpriced and very limited based on price points and selection ( All bottles over $100). The food was OK, but several entrée's seemed to have missing ingredients (vs. stated menu), pork belly was overdone on scallops, and dessert underperformed. The food is good, but not worth one of the most expensive prices in Charlotte.
Food presentation was mouth-watering, excellent quality, friendly servers
Dinner was fabulous- I had the soft shell crab special which was delicious! My friend had the lobster trio dinner which was also very good.
The Soft Shell Crab Tower was a disappointing meal. It was no tower. Only about 1.5 inches high. The veggies didn’t cone with it as advertised and nor did the advertised crab cake. Pretty much just a soft shell crab that was greasy and very salty. Almost inedible. On a better note, the lobster bisque was good. My wife’s special lobster trio main course was good but bland and very small portion of a small half tail. Second time here. Not impressed. The presentation of food is far better than the taste. Service was good and polite.
several months ago Lumiere lost its chef and food quality took a dip. The owner came back to the kitchen and took charge and everything is back on track. we had an excellent meal the other night and coincidently a friend was also dining there and he reported his meal was also excellent.
Service is always friendly and professional, nothing pretentious. definitely one of Charlotte's best restaurants
The food and service were superb. It is always a great experience and the weekly specials make the meal a very good value considering the high quality of the food.
My son and I enjoyed a lovely dinner at Lumiere. We both ordered the grouper paella special and it was beautiful, delicious and very satisfying. Our services were attentive, knowledgeable and friendly. A 5-Star experience!
Best chef in Charlotte hands down.
Finally a restaurant for a special occasion. Nice and quiet, service was attentive but not overbearing. Food was delicious and authentically French.
I brought my mother and her husband for mother's day and it wasn't just a meal, it was an experience. It was our first time in and our server Chris was exceptional in every way, as was the chef and his kitchen staff, bartender, etc etc etc. There was not a morsel un-savored!!! We are eager to come back again for dinner service. Thank you for making it such a memorable celebration.
Great food. Service was lacking.
Superb service, very attentive and thoughtful and knowledgable.
Service here is usually quite professional. This time our waiter seemed clueless re: help with wine selection, and not much better with a question about an entree choice. Food however, was outstanding.
Nice quiet ambiance, Delicious & creative food offerings, and excellent service. Expensive, but worth the price. Can't ask for much more from a dining experience.
Good food. Portions very small
The Chilean sea bass was the best that I’ve ever had. The service from everyone was perfect.
Server was very knowledgeable about the food and wine, and we didn’t feel rushed or forgotten.
Excellent food and service- a real treat. Would highly recommend.
Great meal, service & ambiance!
My dad and I had such a great dining experience here. From the ambiance, to the food, to our great server Chris, an overall beautiful time. The scallop dish was to die for as was the bread pudding dessert! All made perfect by our attentive and charming server. Definitely has improved since our last visit a couple years back.
So glad they have opened for Sunday brunch.
We enjoyed the food and excellent service.
Sunday brunch is a new feature, and Lumiere did not disappoint. Varied menu choices , and all were scrumptious! Always a treat to visit this fine place.
As usual, everything was lovely, tasty and elegant. This was the first service for Sunday Brunch and it was extremely pleasant. One small critique...chef, the grilled octopus salad was so good, I could have eaten it for the main course.
Disappointing. We were looking forward to our visit and had high hopes based on some of the past reviews. Dining room seemed crowded. Server forgot to order our first course. When I brought it to his attention (when our main course arrived), he was less than apologetic. Food was average but nothing outstanding especially for the price. We left as soon as we could with a bad impression. We are very unlikely to return.
Most of the food was good. The bread putting for dessert was not good. Service there is hit or miss depending on who the server is. They need to have more consistency in their waitstaff for an upscale restaurant.
We always enjoy our meals at Lumiere, whether for a special occasion or a treat on date night. Delicious!
Good food, great server. If you go, ago for Chris. He enhanced the experience with his recommendations and attentiveness.
Fine dining. Fine French cuisine. Excellent menu for food and wine. Fine ambience. Highly recommend for all who enjoy fine dining
Always a good choice for a special dinner. Even though we enjoyed our dinner entrees , soft shell crabs, & scallops, we feel that the menu & style were better under the former chef. The food is still good but just not the same flavor if that makes sense. It is still evolving though and of course we will still be coming.
As always food and service superb!
Things have changed, unfortunately. New chef - new menu. Even some of the old standbys don't taste or look the same, such as the popover breads. The amuse bouche was so-so and needed to be hotter. Main entrees still look creative in terms of presentation, but lack flavor. Our group had a fish special (no taste whatsoever), scallops which lacked the sear it should have and also non-flavorful, steak which no longer was served in the unique fashion of 3-ways style of the past, and the duck, which had to be sent back. Service remains outstanding, thank goodness; but that alone cannot make up for the food. At the expensive prices being charged, it needs to adjust the menu and make improvements. I hope to try it again perhaps later in the year when things might change for the better.
The soft shell crabs were outstanding. We will go back anytime they are on the menu. Our waitress, Lisa, was wonderful.
Fois Gras, Soft Shell Crab a d bread pudding to die for.
