We were a group of 7 and only two of the plates were halfway descent tasting. The penne pasta plate was good minus the chicken. The chicken was dry and over cooked. The chicken pot pie was descent minus the chicken again. Same problem, it was dry and over cooked. The menu said it was rotisserie chicken. If it was they need to find a new rotisserie or start buying it at Costco. Everyone else had burgers and everyone said it was dry. The cheeseburger didn’t even come with anything. It was just bun, cheese and a dry patty. On top of all that the service sucked. The waitress acted like she had better things to do and we were bothering her to take our order. Never did she check on us after we received our meals. Then we find out they included her tip in our check. Never again! All these reviews must be fake.
Always good food & service, been going there for years
Food was OK, not great, seemed over-priced. Ribs were overcooked, not much meat. Salmon was good.
Ambiance might have been more lively near the bar or later in the evening (we got there at 6 pm on Thurday).
We have been to The Lumberyard in the past and have always enjoyed it. However this time the food was not good at all. My dinner was over cooked and burned, the vegetables were clearly not fresh but reheated and it was difficult to even cut through both the Parmesan Crusted Sole and the vegetables even with the steak knife that came with it (perhaps they knew it would be difficult because who supplies a steak knife with a fish meal?)
My husband ordered the salmon dish and it was overloaded with cream sauce to the point of overkill. There were more potatoes than vegetables .
We were just sorely disappointed from how we remembered it in the past. We will not be going back again.
Great restaurant for lunch in crowded Laguna. I was unaware that there’s parking behind the restaurant in a garage.
The French onion soup is excellent
Server was not attentive and placed wrong order. Meal then was not cooked to order.
They need valet service - finding a parking spot really put a damper on the evening. I had the cheeseburger - it was dry😟
Closing night of Pageant of the Masters would be the busiest at this restaurant which is steps from the Festval of Arts & Pageant venue. With that anticipation, high staffing should have been the plan at Lumberyard. While our party of six enjoyed a 5-Star prompt seating and a fine table, the rest of the meal was a disappointment. A "medium-well" clearly requested order was presented "rare." Yes, it returned to the kitchen and was regrilled. The spinach side was lovely, but it needed butter -- oh my, the challenge to request butter. And, no water was refilled until we tracked down staff. There was no offer for dessert nor coffee. Maybe they wanted to turn the table. It felt that way. It would have been a nice extra for the Lumberyard staff to be aware of the Pageant's start time, and to be aware when a table of guests (actually 90% of those in the room!) who are on their way there, at this point in the evening, are NOT in a rush and have plenty of time to enjoy a meal, dessert, coffee. The location of the Lumberyard is too perfect next to the Irvine Bowl so it can get away with being "average" in everything else -- until the summer season ends and "average" is insufficient and embarrassing.
comfy, great food, and drinks. Perfect right before a show!
Good food and a wonderful experience for all. The cobbler was delicious!! Great decor and nice outdoor seating as well.
Lovely place for lunch. The food was delicious, portions were good and the service was great
There we six of us and everyone absolutely loved there meal. We had a reservation and were promptly seated. Everything was great!
Lovely patio, yummy food, good service, go to spot in Laguna!
Super yummy with great service
Another great dinner before Pageant of the Masters. Make sure you make a reservation. So many just show up and get frustrated with the 45-60 minute wait
My wife and I went to the Lumberyard for an early pre Pageant of the Masters dinner. Being seasoned citizens we requested with our Open Table reservation that we desired outdoor seating. They filled our request and it was delightful to eat Alfresco with the ability to have a conversation. My wife had the crab cake salad and I the burger along with a side of fried calamari. For dessert we had the lava cake a la mode. I would recommend this restaurant for it's location, outdoor dining and food.
Lumberyard was a very pleasant dining experience. The food was delicious and the wait staff attentive and helpful.
Some of the menu items were very good and others mediocre.
Service was below par. Very very noisy.
We had the Oysters on the half shell as an appetizer. My entreee was the New York Steak and my date had the salmon which had a incredible smoky flavor. It was all quite good and was backed up by good service. Our waiter was there for everything. Its nice when you get good service. Wer were quite pleased with our dining experience.
Fantastic for a drink at the bar and a large party. Indoor and outdoor seating allow the guest to control the noise level. Food was unreal, steaks precisely prepared, fish was fantastic, my brother has the salmon and wouldn’t share! The risotto was simply perfect and the garlic seasoning was perfect. My other brother had the stroganoff and it was made with short rib; it was so good I am planning to return when I have a bike ride the next day! The wine list is deep and full of little gems and the best part is the service is trained on wine!!! We had dessert with was all very good ... not a ton of specifics, but when you go in with 8 people and everyone eats something different, let me just say ... we all loved it! Nobody had anything negative to say. It was a bit loud in the dining room, but hey there were 8 of us and we were not on our phones. Loved it! Great job to the Sunday evening crew!
Nice, comfy, big menu, great food, mainly seniors
Went to Lumbaryard before the Pageant of the Masters and to celebrate a friend’s birthday. Service was great and fast. Food arrived as ordered and was delicious. The vibe was great and fun but a touch loud at moments. I had the seared ahi which was fabulous and the rest of the group cleaned their plates! Always a good stop when looking for a place with good variety and service in Laguna!
Our go to place before the theater! Close and good food.
Well, as far as recommendations go, it would depend on the time of day. The music was so loud we had
to yell at each other to have a conversation. The music was good, just WAY too loud. Food was mediocre,
not bad. We've been there on four different occasions, this was the worst. Depending on the time of day,
I would probably go back, just not later in the night.
A local gem! We love Lumberyard!
Great spot for a good meal before Pageant or Art Festival
Seared Ahi was perfectly prepared and a generous portion. The service was great and so were the cocktails. All 4 of us loved the dinner and the atmosphere.
Very busy due to Pageant goers. Food and drinks were great. Great value. Going back for the halibut and Brussel sprouts.
Party of 10 seated on time and served with grace. Age range from 2 to 80 but all happy with their choices and the comfort. Only downside, the bar was noisy but still a wonderful experience. Food well-prepared and ample portions.
Always a good meal with plenty to choose from. Cocktails are also yummy!
A patron speaking VERY LOUDLY on his mobile phone was EXTREMELY annoying. I asked the server to speak to him, he declined. So I did. Was a tense situation. Please consider the dining environment of ALL of your patrons, not just the rude ones on their phones.
Probably not a good time to be there - evening before Pageant performance
crowded and noisy BUT the FOOD and Service good. French Deep very tasty,
and most satisfactory.
Ladies room needs attention, handle on toilet broken
Busy, but we had reservations so we’re seated right away. Food was ok...expensive, Laguna what else could it be. Not the best, but not the worst. 1 and done.
Always enjoy dining here when visiting from Northern California. Great cocktails and menu selections. Came before Pageant of the Masters...great being able to walk.
This dog friendly restaurant is awesome. excellent service and delicious food. A excellent selection for the menu, however, the wine selection is somewhat limited. We were greeted warmly. I felt like a valued customer. I highly recommend this establishment.
Walked to Laguna Playhouse for a good night of music. Lumberyard go place to start. This from a local
Food was delicious & our server Christina was on top even thought she had a large party. We’re returning again next week to try other menu items!
Delicious City Hall cocktail. Everything was divine. We ordered the cornbread - a must, beet salad, poke, spring rolls! Everything was just perfect. Including the darling bar tender. Top notch.
the noise level was unbearable!!! The worst we have experienced anywhere.
Used ear plugs in just to make it through dinner.
Drinks were poor.
Cesare salad very bitter.
Bread raw- unbaked!
Everything was great and the food was delicious! The only hiccup was that everyone was served except one guest. We had to chase down our server to get the missing entree. This took about 10 minutes. So everyone else was eating and they were sitting there with a hungry look on their face. The server didn’t offer anything to account for this mixup.
