Food is always good & service is usually above average.
It happened to be Easter so it wasn’t as crowded as usual. Because of this noise level was a lot better! Most of the time on a normal evening the noise is so loud that it makes dinner unenjoyable.
It is convenient for dinner after the theater.
We go here often as the outside patio is very nice. The food great and service is friendly. They always make us and our golden retriever feel welcome. We went for Easter brunch and great as always.
Everything on the menu is really good. The food and service is what makes this the best restaurant in Laguna Beach!
Love this restaurant! Great Food and Service!
Jeannie is the best server Always such a great time!
Great food and service, pretty loud however. Need more materials to absorb the sound.
Great nice place in Laguna! Highly recommend reservations
6 of us dined before attending a performance at the Laguna Playhouse. The staff was attentive to timetable and provided great service. The food was delicious with the cedar plank salmon being the big hit. We’ve dined here many times and are never disappointed.
Food delicious / able to sit where we wanted.
Dishes cleared promptly after each course and water served frequently.
Wonderful option for a meal either before or after a show at the Laguna Playhouse or Pageant of the Masters. Also a wonderful local dining option if you're just wandering around Laguna. Quality, delicious food conveniently located to parking lots and metered parking. The brunch menu offers a variety of unique, tasty items like Shakshuka and more.
Great SERVICE and great food. Always enjoy eating at the Lumberyard Restaurant.
Nice Ambience, food was good but a little pricey. Service was very good Walking distance to Laguna Playhouse.
Just as good as the first time we tried Lumberyard - English Pub feel with outstanding food!
We were 5 ladies who ate her prior to a play. The service was quick and efficient. The food was outstanding. Two people shared an entree and the waitress did not have the kitchen split the meal. When it was delivered, she was asked why it wasn't split. She said they charge $5 for a split meal and she figured they would not want to spend the extra. This was a nice suggestion on her part, but they did want the meal split, so she should have told them about the extra charge and let them make the decision. It was somewhat difficult to split this particular salad entree evenly. We also did not see her after the meals were delivered. She was attentive prior to meal arrival and refilled water and iced tea, but once the meals came, she was not available. However, when we finally saw her and asked for more beverages, she brought them right away. She was very pleasant and amenable but could have upped her game just a bit. This is why I gave it an overall 4 stars instead of 5. Great location, great food and we will return. Otherwise, very good in every way and her lack of attentiveness after meal service was not a huge problem - just one that we particularly noticed.
Lumberyard is our “go to” place for dinner before the theater. Always great food, nice atmosphere, and wonderful wait staff. What more could you ask for.
The Lumberyard is one of our favorite restaurants in the area. The service is excellent and the food is delicious. We always order the calamari appetizer followed by either their meat loaf or parmesan crusted fillet of sole. Our friends usually order the schnitzel or the crab and shrimp louie. It is all good. The restaurant is centrally located in Laguna Beach with parking available behind the restaurant. It is an easy walk from the Laguna Playhouse or Pageant of the Masters. If you give it a try, you won't be disappointed.
Wonderful meal, enjoyed the place and the food. Plenty to eat
Great Food and service! Live music on the weekends which is always fun!
My wife and I were looking for a new place to try in Laguna Beach. Based on reviews on Open Table and other sites we booked a reservation.
Everything went smoothly. Parking was easy to find. The Restaurant is in a quaint older timber and brick building that looks like it is straight out of Carmel.
We loved the decor and ambience. Darker, rustic interiors with candle-lit tables. We sat at a private table, but there was also an active bar scene where lots of people were gathered around an enormous bar. Tables are nicely spread out - you don’t feel on top of each other’s conversations.
Our food was delicious. I ordered the Pork Schnitzel and my wife the BBQ ribs. Both meat portions were generous and the cuts were very tender and flavorful. I have lived in Germany, and this was still the most tender Schnitzel I have eaten. The accompanying sauces and vegetables were also delicious. We did not order dessert as our favorite Gelato shop is a short walk away (Another plus).
As we left, a live band was setting up to play. Maybe next time. We will definitely be back.
We've dined at The Lumberyard before and always had a good time. The staff was responsive and the food was delicious. We'll be back.
Tasty food in a pleasant environment. Very good service and value in the heart of Laguna Beach.
Great food, great service, and the historic building is beautiful inside and out. Ask the staff about the history of the building - it's very interesting.
They couldn’t adjust the temperature and it was uncomfortably hot. They totally blew off our special occasion.
We always love the Lumberyard for our consistent experience with that Cedar Planked Salmon. It's one of my favorite dishes in all of Laguna Beach. For someone that comes there a lot, the menu needs a little bit more variety. That being said, I've never had anything there I didn't love. We also recommend Chad or Emily as your server!
Best food, service and ambiance.
Food and service were good, wasn’t impressed with the presentation of the cocktails we ordered.
I love this place it is just like going home. Service is always friendly I had the sea bass and it was absolutely delicious but could have actually used a little salt. (very unusual as I don't use salt at home) the guys had these really wonderful mescal cocktails. Very unique! The server was attentive and really friendly it just feels like you are eating at home with service and no mess.
It was a good friends birthday celebration. I made an on-line reservation. When I arrived, I mentioned to the hostess that it was my friend’s birthday. I asked to be seated near the band. The music was fantastic. We were quickly accommodated. Shortly after we were seated, the wonderful female hostess hand delivered a birthday card, complete with a birthday poem she had written. In all my days, I have never seen such thoughtful behavior. Cheers to the young woman. I am convinced that she will accomplish great things in her life. BTW, after dinner the server brought a desert with a burning candle. I will never forget the magical Lumberyard experience.
Food and service were both very good. Everyone in my party (5) enjoyed the experience.
We had a great meal. This was our second time having dinner here. We will definitely be back!!
Been there many times. Experience has always been good. Not this time. The parmesan encrusted sole was over cooked. Sent one order back that was black. The second order was not much better. One person had salad with crab cakes and within about 10 or 15 minutes she was very sick. Whoever is in charge of seafood needs to assess what is happening.
Jeannie S, our server, was about the only thing that was good. Stan Morgan
Our group of 6 celebrating 2 birthdays (with all the presents) had the pleasure of sitting at the round table made from a section of a gigantic old tree. We had a lovely, unhurried celebration and everyone really enjoyed their meals!
Always a great evening at the Lumberyard. Dinner after the theater was delicious and our waitress was very accommodating.
We went before going to Laguna Playhouse. Its the perfect place to go before the theatre. Park there and walk. The food was excellent as usual but the bartender told us the ribs were shareable but we didn’t agree. We each had about 4-5 ribs and were both still hungry after. They were delicious though! Great food, lively but definitely very noisy. Our Go-2 place when going to the theatre.
Good location for walking around town or heading to the theatre. Food is good, restaurant is very noisy.
Had a nice waitress, and food came out hot and in a timely manner. Could use some more specials on the menu. The penne pasta came out on a small flat dish instead of a bowl...not a very good presentation.
It was fantastic.
Great as always! One of our favorite local restaurants- fantastic crap and shrimp Louie! Wonderful beer selection on tap... what more do you want
Unfortunately we were to be seated at a very small booth, which barely fit 2 or the Bar. It was very loud in both area was hoping for a nice dinner in every aspect to help!
We tried some Beer tasters & the server assumed his post at our table not giving us time to really decide.....I would have like d to have had time to taste them first.....not shooters & order! He stayed too long waiting......
...awkward! We opted for 1- 3 course from their Restaurant Week Menu & the Appetizer was 2 Lamb Meatballs.....just 2?!? Very disappointing, they were very good, but couldn't believe they would serve 2....only. My Main Entree was served warm at best after being warned that the plate is very hot.....cold food on a very hot plate....everything should have been hotter. It was went back with a Mgr. & he delivered hot with what appeared to be my original steak, ordered Med. Rare & smaller portions of veggies & Au Gratin. No check adjustment or inquiry if we would like a Dessert to help compensate....
nothing. Management should know better and/or be retrained.
Overall very disappointing for this caliber of restaurant & it's location amongst so many amazing Laguna restaurants!
We have dined at the Lumberyard a number of times and have enjoyed the food and received very good service. The meatloaf, beef stroganoff and salmon are all delicious.
Loud noise from the bar. Service was good except they brought the meals before the salads were finished. Unsatisfactorily! Food was tasty but a bit pricy.
The Lumberyard is within walking distance to the playhouse, which is why we chose this restaurant. The food/service was just ok, nothing noteworthy.
