Warm and inviting, Luma’s dining room and bar are designed with rich woods, leather and stone, and the cozy lounge is filled with plush sofas and eye-catching artwork. Luma’s second floor location in the TIFF Bell Lightbox and its floor-to-ceiling windows offer outstanding views of King Street West and the downtown action.
From 4pm to 9pm, join us for $6 drink features in the Luma lounge, including flavoured martinis, Manhattans and Grolsch (Note: Magic Hour will not be available from September 6 - 17)
I downgraded the ambience, because it was Sunday, the end of TIFF and they didn't open the restaurant - rather put us in the Founders Lounge with the same menu and service. We usually eat at Luma on the last day of TIFF and this was the first time the restaurant was off limits. Still, it's a great place, great food, and will go again.
The food is mediocre
Another over priced toronto restaurant which elevates form
Over substance and caters largely to unsuspecting tourists
You would experience better flavour quality and value at an ethnic restaurant
Don’t waste your money
I never go to the trouble of writing a bad review but we were honestly very disappointed with our experience at Luma. We went for a date night before a TIFF movie and while the reviews were so-so, many other restaurants were booked up in the area due to TIFF and we both love seafood so we thought - why not? The many reasons became apparent, primarily the food.
We ordered oysters, a kale caesar, the octopus and the shrimp pasta. The oysters were just fine, as most are. However, the kale salad was embarrassing. It was literally a bed of what looked to be romaine lettuce (though, when I raised it, I was told it was made of bitter greens?) with a couple small pieces of wilted kale, store-bought creamy dressing, cheap croutons and an anchovy slapped on top. It reminded me of what you might get at the Holiday Inn. When I raised a concern, I was told it was made of bitter greens and, to be fair, the server did ask if I’d like them to go and make another salad with just kale. I said no because I could see it wasn’t going to get any better and I hate waste. We picked at it but made it pretty clear that we weren’t impressed. The salad, of course, showed up on the bill anyways. We then waited about 45 minutes before our mains arrived, which meant that we had about 10 minutes to scarf it down before our movie started. My pasta was so-so, but the $35 price tag for four shrimp on a bed of fairly plain pasta was pretty annoying. The octopus was very over-cooked and sort of mushy.
There are few things I hate more than spending a bunch of money and getting little in return. We were less than impressed with the food and didn’t even get to enjoy our mains in the end due to the long wait. The restaurant was far from packed. Our server was kind but did nothing about the salad, nor did she check in on us to ask if we’d like another drink. We had one beer each over the 1.5 hours we were at the restaurant. $160 later, I’d give it 1.5 stars.
Tiff pre movie dinner with my spouse
Three out of four of us had the soup. It was not hot.
The main courses were passable. One of us had halibut and he was ill all night.
Services was good. However this was the second mediocre meal here in the past few months, the last time being in July. Will not return. Food quality is not there.
I've been here a few times. It is always excellent - consistent quality and frequent changes to the menu keep it interesting.
Luma was ok. The oysters were good, ceaser kale salad was mediocre. The mains were good but not great value for 2/3 of them. Overall ok place but definitely not outstanding.
This is not my first tome visiting and I always enjoy Luma
There was a delay
One of the two main meals the Entrée arrived first so we shared it.
The appetizer my guest ordered arrived later !
Then my Entrée which we shared as well
Anyway the food was very good
Busy time for Luma but we had a great meal and evening. Menu is still very interesting and very well priced for the location and quality. Good, affordable wine list. Well done Luma for remaining a great spot to go on King West.
Good place to grab a nice meal before a show at the Bell Lightbox. Nicely prepared food, open atmosphere. Decor is slightly dated.
Everything besides the food was amazing. LUMA menu use to be amazing! I am not sure why you changed to a seafood restaurant. Please bring back lamb, duck, and steak!
Yummy and a lovely space
Dinner after a movie at TIFF. Lobster roll and tacos were excellent. We loved the truffle fries. Blankets at the outdoor tables is a nice touch.
Tuna salad tasted off, over cooked and an unhealthy colour .. when I told my waiter he said the tuna is always that grey colour ... ???.. he did offer to bring me another meal.. chose fish tacos ... very mediocre ... my appetizer - octopus good but pretty oily .. overall ? Meh
We had a delicious meal and good service up to dessert. Our dessert order was taken and our server seemed to have disappear. We sat for a lengthy period with no dessert and no server. When our server appeared he asked if we’d received our dessert, and we responded that we had not and at that point did not have time to wait further for it. A disappointing end to an otherwise lovely dinner.
Our group was seated for dinner at 6pm and ordered drinks and appetizers, which arrived but they were told they would not have time for dinner (they had a 2 hour window and the restaurant was not very full). Not

Luma has switched to a predominantly seafood menu.
We love seafood so it was great.
For some reason the restaurant was empty! There were 3 tables being used. Very odd. The food was good, however the restaurant was eerily dead.
Went here for the first time with a small group and our experience was fantastic. Food was wonderful and service was quick, management and staff was very friendly and accommodating. I would gladly go back and recommend this restaurant.
Delicious oysters and lobster roll! Beautiful patio seating. Quiet Friday night of a long weekend.
Had a wonderful meal! they were accommodating of dietary restrictions and very nice.
Always pleasing, good food, good service. The ambience is a winner for us.
Normally the food and service is good but the day was rainy so hardly any patrons but the service was horrible and food even worse. Clam carbonara was not seasoned at all. I called to give feedback and the hostess had no interest in taking feedback. Will not return with any further clients unless reached out by GM to explain.
Amazing food, and service. Kevin our server was attentive and helpful! Loved every minute of our dining experience!
Attentive, timely and friendly service. Great food and drinks!
Waited long to be seated, ended up seating ourselves. Told our server we had an open table reservation but they neglected to confirm our reservation, resulted in a email from open table about promptness and how it affects the restaurant.. service was poor. Do not recommend as this was our second poor experience here. Food/drinks were good, however.
Amazing night! Brought my co-workers and the loved the food! The menu has changed substantially since I first came 5 years ago. It wasn’t too busy on a Friday night and we well- cared by our server. Loved Buck-a-shuck oysters with a bottle of wine. The crab cake appetizer was delicious as well as the grilled octopus for the main. Would highly recommend.
We were 6 friends who haven’t seen each other in 30 years. Upon arrival I checked in with the front desk, and was very warmly greeted and we were escorted to our table and seated. A very nice touch was that the table already had menus set out for each of us.
Service, as usual, was exemplary, and our apps and meals were fantastic.
The restaurant was pretty much empty, except for diners at 3 tables, and our server, Kevin, explained that there were no shows playing this Friday night at the adjacent theatres. On the upside, this meant that we received incredible attention from the entire staff.
Luma has always been consistently outstanding. My wife and I have been here many times, and we were somewhat surprised to see the new menu focused on seafood. But everyone raved about their meals, and I especially loved my halibut fish & chips.
Came for a bday dinner. Meals were delicious, service was fantastic and they even brought some special wine for our celebration. They also noted that a person was gluten-free so the bday dessert they brought was something everyone could enjoy. Looking forward to dining again soon.
It’s the first time I’ve been to Luma since the menu change. Even though I enjoy seafood, I decided to try the Brain Food Salad! It was recommended by manager , Ben, and I have to say it hot everything I was looking for. I ate at the bar and was recommended to try the Green Goddess drink by bartender Fiona. Again, excellent recommendation!!! Completely satisfied diner tonight. Congrats Luma on your changes and congrats to the management and staff tonight for delivering exceptional service. Looking forward to my next visit.
I'm not a vegetarian but I wasn't particularly hungry so I ordered the zucchini spaghetti. It was delicious. The fermented tomatoes combined with fresh tomatoes, olives, fresh peas, watercress and ricotta blended beautifully.
My husband ordered the branzino. The presentation was not the best but he enjoyed it.
For dessert we shared the profiteroles. It was good but very different from profiteroles in Paris.
I'll go back for the zucchini spaghetti.
While I appreciate that it was a busy Saturday evening with summerlicious, the service was unacceptable. We ordered sparkling water for the table, but midway through our meal, the waiter filled our glasses with tap water. I couldn’t flag down any server for a new glass, so I took one from the next table next and filled it with our sparkling water. The waiter then brought another bottle of sparkling water (without asking) and then charged us for 2 sparkling waters. It wasn’t expensive but it’s the principle of it. Luma is one of my favourite restaurants but this experience was terrible. The food itself was great as always.
Worst service I have ever experienced
This was our fourth dinner at Luna - we loved this dinner.
The stuffed squid appetizer was outstanding and so was the Branson’s
We will be back whenever we can afford
Efficient and friendly service. Delicious food. Beautiful vantage point overlooking King West. All in all a lovely meal before our film at TIFF Lightbox.
Convenient mid-upscale restaurant inside Bell Lightbox cinema. Summerlicious lunch menu was OK, but not as good as other lunches I have had there.
Some of us enjoy some of our food more than others and the service was great. However it took a long time to get our food given that the courses were ordered in one go.
Very nice food and convenient location, modern and relaxing ambience (a bit noise but not disturbing at all)
