Warm and inviting, Luma’s dining room and bar are designed with rich woods, leather and stone, and the cozy lounge is filled with plush sofas and eye-catching artwork. Luma’s second floor location in the TIFF Bell Lightbox and its floor-to-ceiling windows offer outstanding views of King Street West and the downtown action.
From 4pm to 9pm, join us for $6 drink features in the Luma lounge, including flavoured martinis, Manhattans and Grolsch (Note: Magic Hour will not be available from September 6 - 17)
Great dinner and service. Perfect location for a pet-show dinner.
First time at this restaurant but it will not be the last. Very enjoyable. The food was very good
We were all really disappointed with the food. The reviews we had read were all really good, but the food was so disappointing. Soggy tasteless caesar salad with not well dispersed dressing. Mains were also disappointing very bland. The desserts were okay, but nothing spectacular. For that amount of money I would have expected better.
We booked at Luma for a nice New Year’s Eve celebration.
Firstly, they should never have called it a New Year’s event. They did absolutely nothing to make it festive. The only thing they did was, bring half glasses of bubbly about ten minutes to midnight. There was no great fanfare or anything at midnight. Quite a letdown.
The food was just awful.
My husband ordered the trout, which consisted of a tiny overly dry piece, no hint of a sauce. Two people ordered the steak...again dry and flavourless. I ordered the lobster crab burger...which totally lacked flavour. It just tasted of a lump of seafood clumped together.
All in all, terribly disappointing start to the New Year.
The only redeeming part was the lovely waitress that we got. She was friendly and very efficient.
Never going back.
The steak came out cold...twice
New Year’s Eve for the third year in a row. Thank you for excellent service and delicious food. We will be back!
Excellent service. Excellent food. Engaging and helpful server Shamima. Lovely ambiance and one of the few restaurants in the city where you can actually hear yourself think. There is not one thing to criticize in our New Year's Eve experience. Have been to Luma many times and am never disappointed.
Good location and atmosphere. Not worth the price. Had the shrimp and lobster burger. It was bland. Brussels sprouts weren't cooked properly.
Had a blast with family who loved everything about Luma! Tuna was incredible, gnocchi superb and lemon tart was perfect! Had great time and servers and mangers were fun and did great job! Perfect meal!!!
Lovely! We had family from out of country and they loved it.
Came for a Thursday night dinner with 3 friends after a TIFF movie. My quinoa avocado salad app was the right size for a starter and the flavours were well balanced. My bass entree was perfectly cooked, with a nice crust, and the sides were sublime. One friend found her potato side much too salty, although her steak was good. The cocktails didn't quite live up to expectations, and took a while to arrive, but my prosecco negroni had an enjoyable lightness to it.Service was very attentive without being overbearing. It was a quiet night, but the space is well cushioned so it never gets too noisy. Would recommend.
We went to Luma before a show at The Royal Alexandra Theatre. The staff was attentive and made sure that we were done in time for our show. The appetizer of eggplant with goat cheese was nothing special and I wouldn't order its again. However, we tried 4 different entrées and they were all delicious. I would definitely return to Luma again.
The portion size is ridiculously poor!!! My soup had 2 tablespoons of liquid!!! My brain salad was like eating a plain avocado under gross slaw! You can't charge these prices for such small portions! We had to eat again an hour after our meal!
Great service. Great food. Only thing: small mains menu. Great atmosphere. Would highly recommend.
Amazing food and fabulous server. We really enjoyed the experience.
Had dinner last week for a special dinner for four, celebrating last day of university exams. Atmosphere was lovely, buzzing, warm and festive! Food was great and did not disappoint. Our server made the evening. He was very engaging and we really enjoyed having him serve us. Thank you Illia (sp?).
Beautiful ambiance, excellent service and food. Won’t disappoint.
Great food, good location, nice ambience and very fine service from greeting to departure
Good food and good ambience. Servers were friendly. The only point to improve, service was a bit slow, even the restaurant was not full
Food was excellent all around. Our Server (Don’t know his name) was exceptional and would go again for his great service.
The prices are kind of outrageous. They charged $19 for a 6 oz glass of red wine, $26 for 9 oz of the same wine, And $70 for the full bottle. Crazy. And $35 for a main that would've cost maybe $25 elsewhere. I would happily pay if it was something I couldn't have gotten elsewhere, but it wasn't.
It was great but not enough to justify the prices.
Food not cooked well done as requested
I chose Luma for a pre-theatre dinner with my husband based on one dish: the Wild and Tame Mushrooms. We were not disappointed. We started with edamame for the table, which was delicious with a hint of spice in the chili oil, and the complimentary bread with butter and honey. For appetizers we each had salad. My husband chose the asparagus salad because the crispy poached egg sounded intriguing, and it lived up to its promise. I had the octopus salad, a generous serving of octopus chunks prepared with a nod to Mediterranean flavours. For the mains we had the aforementioned mushroom dish and the seared tuna, which was served with braised fennel and onion, and deep-fried cassava. We are not big drinkers, but my husband had a martini and I tried the fresh-squeezed watermelon juice, which was the only off-note for me. Instead of being light, sweet, and refreshing as I expected, it was thick and had an odd aftertaste. (I think on future visits I will stick with sparkling water.) Service was timely, friendly, and highly competent. Overall we had a great experience and were happy to find a restaurant like this within a short walk of the theatre.
I was there for a business lunch. Good food, good service, frigid ambiance.
We came to Toronto last year and ate at Luma. This year was just as good. Delicious food, nice atmosphere, good service.
Lovely birthday lunch!
Unfortunately my chicken was undercooked- rubbery and chewy The brustle sprouts were sitting in butter, too much.
Our sever was great at offering another meal - I just couldn’t.
My husband enjoyed the trout and the halibut entrée was excellent. Appetizers were very tasty and well received. We'll be back.
Wish the hostess greeted with a smile! Great location and server. Staff went above and beyondd to accommodate my friends allergies! Only blemish a problem with my spectacular dessert which was rectified immediately and no charge. Just wish the hostess knew how to smile.
Usually the service is consistent and on point but this time it was a miss. We arrived (2ppl) for dinner pre-show. Server was polite and took note of our need to exit in about an hour. No issues there (we did leave on time and we ordered accordingly). Our server started off on the right foot. We liked her and she seemed like she was on it. Ordered were a bottle of flat, 2 cocktails, edamame, cod feature, shrimp tagliatelli and parmesan truffle fries. Server poured tap instead of clarifying bottled. Our cocktails arrived after our app and after our entrées. The fries were forgotten until I asked for them twice (food runner and our server). We got our fries after we were done our entrées. Server cleared the table of all plates and cutlery and left the fries on the table for us to eat with our hands...had to ask for a fork.
If the food and service was on point, we would've ordered another cocktail or wine in addition to deserts and coffee if it was offered. We had the time to buy just couldn't. I've been to Luma before for dinner and lunch and had great experiences. No idea what happened here considering they only had a dozen tables filled and a party at the bar. Success and greater sales are in the details.
My friend and I each ordered the dinner size of appetiser salads. I had the crabmeat. It had lots of boston lettuce, 1/2 of a single cherry tomato, no watercress, one small endive leaf and some stodgy crabmeat. My friend had the asparagus salad and found about 4 very short bits of asparagus. I don't know what else was supposed to be in it. There was no pleasure in either of our meals. We also shared a plate of soggy fries.
The hummus and bread were good. I have dined at Luma many times and am assuming it was a very bad night for the kitchen. Our waitress was efficient and lovely.
I won't be rushing back.
Great ambiance and space. The food was very good. We had problems ordering drinks; no champagne or similar by the glass, preferred spirits were not available, the bottle of wine we selected could not be found, etc. This was disappointing. Our server was a bit insecure and could use more education in the wine list, but was kind, charming and determined to offer a good dining experience. That said, overall I didn’t find the entire staff working at the polished level I’ve previously experienced. Still...a lovely meal.
We ate at Luma with 2 other couples before going to the theatre. It was a lovely experience. Great location, enjoyable ambiance, attentive but discreet service, amazing food supported by a good wine list and reasonable prices. We will return. Highly recommended.
We enjoyed our lunch. Our server was nice, but should have brought spoons with our coffees. Other than that, he was fine and courteous.
Always great here. Treated like family, especially by servers Tran and David. Love the new asparagus salad with ‘crispy’ poached egg.
Just a disaster. My parents and their friends drove 2 hours and I highly recommended this dinner. The waitress was terrible. A manager was unhelpful when I tracked her down to say we had been waiting over a half hour for the mains. The Caesar salad had zero flavour. The steaks were cold and the replacements were over salted. The dessert arrived 5 minutes before the coffee. I had an empty Manhattan glass that someone filled with water. I was so embarrassed that my dad paid almost $200. They did comp the dessert. It was the worst dining experience of the year.
Excellent service, delicious food. We will return to try more of the menu.
Great location and service. Fantastic food!
Went pre-theatre and service staff was great about getting us out in time for the show.
All good, except noise level was higher than I ever remember
