LuLu's Ratings and Reviews
My family and I had a great first experience at LuLu's! We made a reservation and the diner was very quick at getting us seated on time. We enjoyed all of the creative menu options and were able to find something for everyone. The food came out very fast and fresh. Everything we ordered was delicious and the plates went back empty. The only issue we had with our visit was the ambient noise, but that's not the restaurants fault. Just be forewarned that you may not be able to have a fluid conversation. Overall an outstanding experience and we will be back very soon! Thank you!
We had a 10:00 Sunday brunch reservation but waited over 20 minutes to be seated. Similar-in-size-parties that arrived after ours were seated before us. The hostess was unpleasant and unapologetic, and her excuse for our wait was she was waiting for tables to be bussed and cleaned. The restaurant was too warm and noisy. Once we were seated, our server, Jen, was terrific, and our meals were very good -- everything from the chicken and biscuits, to the BLT, the TOA omelette, as well as the Huevos Rancheros (photo). The Bloody Mary was okay, nothing special.
The waitress called LuLu's "Millie's little sister". True enough. Both serve hearty food with an elegant spin in a casual atmosphere. But little sister takes reservations for brunch, and that's an awesome thing for those of us who like to plan ahead and avoid standing in long lines. The Pomegranate Mule and red velvet shortcake are extraordinary! The Shockoe Florentine was also excellent--perfectly poached egg and delicious pimento cheese sauce. The artwork of the Main
Street train station is a great nod to the neighborhood.
We'll be back for dinner next time!
We had reservations for Sunday brunch and were seated within 10 minutes. The hostess was fabulous handling all of the walk ins and reservation patrons. Our brunch was one of the best I've experienced in Richmond. It was a great celebration of my Mother's 83rd birthday! Order the bread pudding..........WOW!!
I know (and LOVE) Lulu's for their amazing brunch but I recently had the pleasure of enjoying a fantastic dinner at Lulu's as well. The food and service were both excellent. The brussels sprouts appetizer was delicious. My husband loved his bacon wrapped pork tenderloin and the seafood risotto was simply amazing! Our server Olta was great. Very friendly and knowledgable about the food and drink options. I ordered a martini and she asked if I'd like to try their pickle version made with spicy pickle juice. So good! If you've been to Lulu's for brunch you know it's a fairly loud and fun atmosphere...dinner on the other hand was quiet, romantic and perfect. :)
We went around 12:30pm for brunch and it was super busy, but we were seated right away. The atmosphere was casual and lively. The food was amazing! We got the corn beef hash and the chicken biscuit, which both were both amazingly delicious! Totally worth it! We will definitely go back to try the other dishes and bring our other friends. :)
If you haven't been there before you really have to be looking for this place to find it. There was a lot of construction on 17th Street so that section between Main & Franklin was closed and the sign over the sidewalk is pretty nondescript; - circled the block a few times and finally had to be dropped off and walk in the rain. Went there for Sunday Brunch and arrived about 15 mins ahead of our reservation time but we were greeted and seated right away. The hostess and waitress were very courteous and attentive and seemed well acquainted with the menu. The restaurant itself is pretty small so I was glad that I made a reservation ahead of time. The food was good and the overall atmosphere while noisy is very friendly and relaxed. If you live in and around downtown it's definitely worth a look but probably not worth the 20-30 minute drive from the west end. I might return but only after the construction on 17th Street is finished.
Went for sunday brunch date. Even first thing there was an energetic atmosphere. Service was prompt and attentive even though seats were filling fast. Had breakfast specials that were so good. Buttery biscuits, eggs cooked perfectly, great coffee and perfect mimosa.
First I will say the food was absolutely amazing!! I had the TOA omelette with home fries and a side of bacon. The home fries were seasoned extremely well and the omelette was packed with cheese which I loved. My only complaint was that I stood at the door for about 45secs before the hostess acknowledged me. I arrived at 9am so no one else was there waiting when I walked in. She turned around when I came in then she went back clicking away on the iPad. Eventually I was seated and the rest was all good. I’ll definitely be returning!
Wonderful Brunch...very creative and unique menu, wonderfully prepared. The specialty drinks were also great and service was very attentive. We drove of Fairfax and very much worth the drive. We can not wait to go back. We are shocked we found it before Guy Fieri of the Food Channel. Just Awesome!
Food and service was good, but nothing to rave about. Restaurant was not very crowded for a Saturday evening. A lot of construction going on all around it which makes parking and finding the place a little more difficult. It will be in a nice location once the Farmers Market construction is finished.
The drinks were a little pricey but were made well for everyone in my party. Our waitress was extremely accommodating and did a great job as well......everyone in my group thoroughly enjoyed their dishes from the Atlantic omelet to the biscuits and gravy everything was delicious! Especially the red velvet waffles! Will Definitely be dining here again.
Love LuLu's! If you're going for brunch, definitely try to make a reservation and save yourself some waiting time. That being said, if you don't have a reservation and you're holding out for bar seats, the hosts and bartenders are very helpful and keep an eye out for seats opening up and don't let people who just walked in hop in front of you. I've sat at the bar and at a table at LuLu's, and as a former bartender, I prefer the bar seating if you only have 2 or 3 people in your party.
We went for brunch, were sat immediately. Coffee was great, server was upbeat. We were checked on periodically with refills and such. My chicken and red velvet waffles was really awesome. My friend got the huevos rancheros, which he said could use more salsa and the over easy eggs were overcooked. But all in all, a fun brunch.
