Luigino's At Heathrow - Permanently Closed Ratings and Reviews
We love Luigino's and have visited for years, dinner and lunch. We live in DeLand or we would go much more often. Steaks and seafood is always very good. Many of the pastas and really any item we have tried, which is many, are always great. I was sad because somehow I didn't get my leftover pasta to bring home for lunch the following day, many times even better after the flavors blend.
We arrived around 7:45 PM on a Saturday night, and I was expecting to have to wait in a crowd to be seated. On the contrary, there was hardly a person in sight. The hostess kindly sat us - right next to the other two occupied tables in the restaurant. This place is gigantic, and the majority of seats were empty. I can understand sitting people together: it's a little less awkward than sitting alone in one of the many huge, vacant rooms.
We were sat next to a double dating couple free of the inhibitions of quiet conversation, intimacy, or privacy. It was like we were sitting with them at their table, except we were a good 5' away in the sea of empty tables.
The servers were very nice and polite, and attempted to break the ice with jokes.
I started with the the tuna (ahi?) appetizer. It was alright, but nothing to write home about. In terms of bang/buck, it was about 50%. My spouse ordered the stuffed mushrooms, which were very tasty: 100% bang.
The veal was a very sizeable portion, with a side of pasta that may have been mistaken for the main dish. More than enough.
The grouper I had was very good, if a tiny bit dry. What can I say about the crab meat? It was on top of the grouper. The asparagus was cooked well and lightly seasoned, and the mashed potatoes were mashed potato-y. For a place with such a variety of options, mashed potatoes seem like a wasted opportunity.
The desserts are what shined (although I say this as someone who only watched dessert being eaten 2nd hand). Sometimes Tiramusi can taste frozen and pre-made, but their tiramisu was no such thing. It was fresh, moist, and the rum-soaked cake was superb.
Overall, the food was good, the service was good, but it was definitely not worth the price.
We went on a Tuesday night at 530 and was 1 of 2 tables. We had a perfect table in the corner by the windows which were all closed. My son opened the blinds to be stared at by a male server who came over and instructed us that they were closed because of the heat. I told him that I did not want to feel like I was in a coffin. Our sever Roxy was awesome. Unfortunately I can say the same thing about the food. Mushy tomato on my bruschetta. Minestrone no flavor same as the ceasar salad. The shrimp cocktail was rubbery, over cooked shrimp. Eggplant rollatini was thin and flavorless. The sea bass was good but the angel hair and seasonal veggies tasteless. 4 lobster ravioli were tiny. The lemoncello was thick, lumpy, and almost frozen. Just all around bad. It is a shame that this is such a beautiful place and apparently the locals like it but we will not be one of them. We didn't even try dessert. $240 mistake. Win some loose some.
We did the 3 for $33.00 Stuffed mushrooms were very good. Shrimp appetizer was also very good. The T-bone was ok, not fantastic. My main issue with the place was the smell. It smelled like mold. There is definitely a water issue that is making the entire restaurant smell like a basement in need of refreshing.
We went for Magical Dining. Greeted by manager and seated quickly. Roxy and Kevin were our wait staff they checked up on us in a timely manner. Our appetizers were the stuffed mushrooms and shrimp Frances which were very Good choices. Roxy informed us during our appetizer that the entrees were delayed due to back up the kitchen and offered us a soup or salad while we waited. My wife had the veal Milanese and I had the 16oz T-bone steak. Both came out warm and tasted fantastic.
We finished with the lava and tiramisu. After dinner, the manager spoke with us over drinks. We would definitely return.
Took my mother to Luigino's for mothers day, the Rib Eye was great, My Mon had the Filet, both were cook to our liking, Our waiter was attentive but not over bearing, How could a couple glass of Wine hurt. Nice and easy and close to home Thanks for a Nice night out.
Our server Michael was fantastic. There was a broken blind and window with no view 😩 Near our table. We would have loved to have been able to see outside. The Teramissu was not worth trying & the veal was a tad over done. The manager continued to check on us and treated my children as if they were his own. Major brownie points scored there. Overall we were very happy and would return.
Took a couple we are friends with because of a great Valentine dinner there in February. One is always a little worried that your recommendation will fall short of a previous experience but it did not in the least. Very attentive and responsive waiter, nice view (even saw the remnants of rocket lift-off from the dining room) great food. Could not have been better.
Good place for a special celebration. The food was prepared well, but be sure and ask for the regular steak menu to be able to take advantage of extras (i.e. mushrooms, special sides, etc.). Had a pleasant entertainer for this evening (don't know if this is a regular feature). A rose given to each female guest was a nice touch.
I've been to Luigino's many times but it has been at least a year since my last visit. The food quality was at the level I remember, very good. The atmosphere was average on the left side of the restaurant (to bright in my opinion) and the service was well below average. It was not professional or classy at all. The staff needs to be trained on service etiquette. The bussers were teenagers that were more interested in talking to themselves and making jokes. I was on a two top and two bussers were clearing off our table at the same time. It felt like they were fighting over what plates to remove with a fraternity like approach. The server was ok, not bad but not great. After our main course she brought the check and didn't even ask if we wanted desert. I asked for a desert menu, placed my order and then was told the cappuccino machine was down. I was there on Valentine's Day and was actually embarrassed. I actually took my date to Ruth's Chris for desert.
I not writing this to simply complain, I am writing this in hope Luigino's will get back to the way I remember it.
Went to dinner for Valentine's Day. Hostess forgot to give my wife a rose which they were handing out to all female patrons. Waited about 10 minutes for waiter to introduce himself and take drink orders. Food took forever to come. Waiter apologized and offered to give us soup while we waited. The food was good. The staff, overall, appeared to be young and inexperienced.
It has been a few years since we wen to Lugino's. Our last visit was a huge disappoint from a service and food perspective. Nothing has changed. We where 3 people. Two dishes came out and mine never did. When i let staff know, it took another 20 minutes and the rest of my party finished eating. My dinner (fish) was grossly over cooked and chewy when it finally arrived. I sent it back and they offered me a dish to go and then try to bill me for the to go dish. After speaking to the owner, she just smiled. No real acknowledgement of the problem or issues. This was a great place many years ago but just suffers from poor management.
The food was incredible. The staff was attentive, although there was a large party in the other room. They appologized several times for that, but it did not seem to be a hinderance. I am allergic to tomatoes and I found many items on the menu I could eat and everything I saw from the other tables that ordered looked as good as what my party got. We will definitely be back.
I felt very rushed here. In and out in less that an hour. Not what I had planned. The main dish was placed on the table before we had finished our appetizers. The server was a little to in your face friendly. Would go back but I would not go out of my way to go here.
Have now been to Luigini's twice and both times was impressed with the staff, especially the Manager, Eric, who took personal care of us and our guests and went out of his way to accommodate my specific requests. Luigini's made both evenings memorable occasions for us.
Luigino's is not far off I-4, and easily located in the corner of a shopping center. There is outdoor seating but it was still too hot to take advantage of that. We were seated at a corner window table with a nice view of a pond and golf course(?). The server paid attention to the movement of the sun in closing the blinds. He explained the Magical Dining menu which offered a nice variety of appetizers or salads, fish, chicken or beef for the entrees. The food was wonderful! If I'm in the area again I'd go back.
This restaurant is on the Magical Dining Orlando list so we expected a Magical experience. The waiter was great but the food was nothing I could not have made at home. The sauces are jarred or canned and the bread was not home made as I would expect from an authentic Italian restaurant.
