Lugo Cucina Ratings and Reviews
I've eaten here before but I must say, aside from teh nice service we received, the food was not good. Meatbalss "recommended"were dry. my pasta was cold and the vodka sauce was more a pomodora. We were early in the evening so it should not have taken as long as it did for the meals to come out.
MY experience with this establishment has always been delightful. But the most recent visit not so well.I had a business lunch with some people from Macy's corporate.
We ordered as usual so we could enjoy some easy conversstion. Our appetizer came out spot on which was very enjoyable. After about 20 minutes ,I asked our server if our entree was coming out soon which she informed me it was.
After another 25 minutes went by,I asked if there was a problem in the kitchen and she said they were a little backed up.I accepted that being it was very busy with the holiday season. Another 20 minutes went by and at this point..We KNEW something was ary.
She than asked if we would like to speak with a manager which I immediately answered YES.
He came over with apologies saying the kitchen lost our ticket and would we still like our food which we answered YES too.
There was no charge for our lunch but it was quite an embarrassing moment for me and my clients.
Needless to say.
This is and always will be one of the best restaurants in the area.
Without question the best place to dine in this area of the City. Everyone who visits this area knows how easy it is to find a "beer & shot" joint, but also how difficult it is to find good food. Lugo delivers. We always enjoy ourselves before a Rangers game. The staff is quite welcoming and the managers always stop by to say hi. I would highly recommend to anyone in the area looking for authentic, quality Italian food.
The ambiance was pleasant, with an open dining room. We ordered our first course, meatballs, and they were very good. We ordered chicken parm and gnocchi and were going to share each between the two of us. When our waitress put two parms in front of us, we thought she made a mistake by bringing two entrees, when it was actually the one entree which she plated separately for us - so, a lot of food. The gnocchi were delicious, not an easy dish to get so right. The shrimp with the gnocchi seemed out of place, but were also delicious and complemented the dish nicely. Left with a yen for all the above mentioned dishes, but when we go back, might have to try one other gems they have.
Have been going here for many years and I am an OpenTable VIP , but probably won't go back since we recently showed up for a dinner reservation , which was made through OpenTable and confirmed via a text message request from the restaurant , to find the restaurant closed ! Sent a follow up e mail to the restaurant and their corporate parent (ldv hospitality) the next day and got ZERO response . I guess they don't care enough about their guests to respond or accommodate for their mistake . So, adios Lugo !
This place was spot on as usual. Very good food and our server Melissa couldn't have been more professional. I have been here many times, and have always left happy. This time the food was even better than before....... I don't know what they did to the bolognese, but this time a very good dish got even better. My dining companion was making her Lugo premiere and that's where our sever Melissa took over. Melissa walked my friend patiently through the menu and made several recommendations to her. David runs the show like a pro and always recognizes me when I'm in. Makes one feel special. YES...... this place is high energy. It gets loud...... but hey, we're New Yorkers, we are all about the energy!
I specifically asked for a quiet table because I was meeting an old friend from out of the country. We were seated right on top of another table in the front entrance. The table was small and it was so loud I could even hear most of our conversation. We should have asked for another table but he was there first and we didn’t want to complain. Big mistake.
I never heard of it or knew it existed. I went on Open Table and it seemed like the perfect pre-Billy Joel concert eatery. The restaurant was great, we all enjoyed the atmosphere and most importantly the food. A great choice if you are seeing a show or game at Madison Square Garden as the location is right around the corner at 1 Penn Plaza. Another hint... if you are driving into NYC for MSG and need a parking lot use the Icon Parking at 1 Penn Plaza and go on to Groupon and pay in advance. Parking was $36.00 instead of the regular $60.00!
Reservation was at 6p and our entree didn’t come out till 740p. We checked in with server to let her know we needed to leave for an 8p show and she said she would check in it and never came back with an update. Finally we said we need to have our food served right away along with the check. Server had no real sense of urgency.
We had a show at MSG - couldn’t have been more convenient! Service was excellent - food was very good. We got there early - 5:30 - restaurant was practically empty - but by the time we left 7:30ish it was packed. Will definitely become my regular when going to an MSG event!
Have eaten here several times before going to an event at the Garden. The food is always consistent & not over priced for NYC. Plenty of options on the menu. They change it up based on the season. The meatball appetizer is delicious. If you want their bread you need to ask for it at the beginning. It's weird but eveytime I have been there it arrives towards the end of our meal. I will note it is very loud inside if your looking for quiet & quant, it's not your place. I like it. It fits the vibe for a night out pre concert. We sat outside this time because it was a nice weather.. Will be back again.
Not an old fashioned venue but basically your traditional Italian fare – service was good, all the staff friendly - I’d go again – I mean it’s not top shelf New York dining but it’s not - I think I saw Mario Batali’s “new” place when I was Googling - $240 a plate or per person more accurately before drink – the food was good and dinner for two with wine cost a lot less than the one person price above. If not in NY it could in many cities probably be regarded toward the better end of Italian dining, everything was tasty. Nothing to complain about and I’d go back.
Dinner was pre sports event at MSG and location was perfect! Our server, Marisa, was cheerful, knowledgeable and attentive. Wine list was impressive and food was delicious. My husband is more of a "family style" eater so he was a bit disappointed in serving size. I felt the portions were good. The décor was very bright and contemporary, I would definitely return.
