My wife and I took a romantic trip to Napa Valley for a weekend get away. We had spectacular food and service experiences everywhere we went, except Lucy Restaurant.
We were one of the first patrons in the restaurant for an 11:30am reservation. The restaurant was nearly deserted, so you would think the service and food would come quickly to our table. Not exactly. We had to wait over 35 minutes for the food to be delivered, and they messed up the order. My wife ordered a "make your own" omelette and they added raw onions to hers despite that she never ordered them. Because the food was delivered so late, we did not comment or make a fuss because we had to depart quickly for a wine tasting appointment about a 1/2 hour away.
The food quality was good and the hotel/restaurant are beautiful, but I doubt we will go back.
Service was outstanding and food was to our unique request.
The food was good, but nothing fantastic. The tastiest item we received was the bread. The shellfish paella was undercooked, the fillet was very good and perfectly cooked, the gnocchi was good, and the wild mushrooms fricasee with white truffle oil was very late arriving to the table and had no white truffle flavor. We will not be going back.
Incredible in every way is my modest summary
Of our Valentine five course menu at Lucy’s restaurant in the spectacular Bardess
hotel In Yountville!
Each large size course was unique and delicious
Paired with sensational wines at very reasonable prices.
Service was perfect
This is a beautifully decorated restaurant and the service is top notch.
Our food was hit and miss. We loved the beet salad and scallops but the shell fish risotto was inedible and the beef fillet was simply ok.
There are a few other menu items that look interesting and may draw us back - but we left our first visit with mixed emotions.
It was very quiet when we arrived but we were seated promptly. The service was very good but the food was just average.
This is the first bad meal I’ve had in Yountville. I ordered the paella in entre size. What arrived was a quarter cup of over-cooked rice in a soup of watered down Chef-Boyardee tomato sauce with 4 tiny clams and 4 mussels, for $36. I first asked the waiter if he’d made a mistake and served the appetizer side, but he said no. When I later called him over and told him “this is not the quality I expect at Lucy” he responded that he would forward that to the chef. There was no offer to remove the paella and replace with another entre. When I left, the GM asked how the meal was, and I responded: “I’m a regular at Lucy, but today’s meal was abysmal and I don’t believe I’ll return.” He stared at me without comment, and after 10 seconds I simply left.
It was an over-priced bad meal, and despite my expressing dissatisfaction, the response made clear they did not care. I have had a number of good meals here, but after tonight, I will never return.
The food and service was great. They have fine wines by the glass starting at $18-$50. So best to just bring a bottle in unless you really want a glass like Opus One for $50. Better to buy the bottle outside for $100 and pay the corkage fee for $25!
The best duck I have ever had. A hidden gem in Yountville.
Birthday Brunch for a friend was amazing! The hostess and server were super friendly, on top of our needs and very efficient. Will definitely be back for the very delicious brunch as well.
Despite having made a reservation and being on time, we were first placed a table that I would think one would leave for overflow - right at the entry way. The hostess was nice enough to offer mimosas while we wait for a new table. That was beyond what I expected, especially because the wait was not long. Unfortunately, once we were seated and were given our waters, no one came back for some time. We happen to see the hostess and flagged her down. She apologize and quickly took our order and then went on to offer us something extra which ended up being desert as that is what she recommended. Well, it gets better in a good way... she came back and comped our meals because of the below standard service we experienced. Now that was a great gesture and not what we expected. A pleasant surprise. I've been there numerous times and will go back, however, hope that the service improves.
The food was fantastic and ambiance very romantic. Wine prices are ridiculous, though. I'm used to paying 2 to 2 1/2 times store prices when out for dinner, but their prices are 4/5 times the base rate - absolutely ridiculous, with no reasonable options. Cheapest glass of Chardonnay was $24, with bottles $125 - $200+. That's insane for the options offered. Food was far more reasonably priced - very odd.
Excellent food and attention to detail at every level.
Service was attentive and our courses we delicious
Dining room was unusable for lunch due to sanding /vacuuming going on behind a door. We were given conflicting explanations for why this was happening during the lunch hour. We eventually were reseated outside (during a rather rainy week). The staff was very apologetic and worked to accommodate us, but it would have been nicer to have been able to sit inside.
A great experience. The food was excellent, and the service was impeccable.
The waiter need more training and side dishes are french fries or chips.
A group of 7 had our Christmas dinner here. The staff were great, friendly and accommodating. The food was great. Very seasonal and well-executed. I had brioche-stuffed quail topped with huckleberry compote atop a mix of lentils and vegetables. Others had the lamb chops and the lobster risotto. All were enjoyed. We enjoyed cocktails, wines, and even cappuccinos. I definitely recommend.
The salads and starts were beautifully plated but unnecessary selections. The lobster risotto tasted strange. Two of us had stomach pain the next day after the dinner. A few of the main plates were delicious and the cocktails were well made. Service was attentive.
The food and service at Lucy is very good. Nice ambience. The wine by the glass and cocktails are over priced! Have your wine or cocktails before going there.
service was spotty, wine list which was very short and not very interesting was not up to date and extremely expensive.
The food and experience was amazing. Our server Anthony was very knowledgeable and helped us pick out the best food and drinks.
This was our first visit to Lucy and we were not disappointed. Caught them on a slower late evening, but the service was excellent. Kitchen plated and served wonderful entrees as if we were first ones in! Wonderful dining space, modern, clean look, yet good acoustics. Will definitely return next time up in Napa area.
Strange place. Half empty, prices seemed very high.
Wine markup is excessive
For our weekday breakfast, we ordered our traditional favorites - chilaquiles and Eggs Benedict - and proclaimed each 'the best ever'!!
Warm, friendly server completed our terrific experience!
Overly ambitious, mediocre preparation of trendy foods with little apparent attention to the local bounty—either of ingredients or of talent. Why feature scallops, swordfish, and Maine lobster in the middle of Napa? And why not train the staff properly? The waiters were cloyingly syrupy in manner, asking not, “How is your food?,” “”but “Is the duck breast or the confit tasting better for you?” Actually, it was only the green beans that really tasted good, but at least the duck was local.
The food, slightly overpriced for what you get. The service was poor to say the least. Everyone was very pleasant but disorganized. Had to ask for silverware. The food came before the drinks. The only organized part was the valet parking. If the waiters were new, the onus falls on management. No, they were not busy!!
I was surprisingly disappointed by not only the quality of the food but the limited choices. I was very annoyed that I was not informed it was breakfast only at 1:00pm
Food was good. We had to remind them of our reservations at 15 minutes past the time, even though I had checked in twice earlier. And... the restaurant was not even close to full, so why did they make us wait and ask? Not good at all. Bartender was great at least!
One warning if you are a wine drinker and you take your own wine: Their corkage is $50!
Disappointing return visit. We were excited to come back with a group on our recent visit, but it was not at all what we had hoped for. The service was not even close to what we had the same time last year. The staff was not communicating with each other. We had one waitstaff member ask if we wanted anything else after dropping plates at our table, took an order for a Bloody Mary, and 10 minutes later still nothing. Then, at that 10 minute mark our waitress checked back in with us and when we asked about the Bloody Mary she said it was never put in. Food temps were all over the place at a table of 6. Even the food portions were different. We ordered 2 sides of toast and you would have never guess they came from the same kitchen. One side had 2 small pieces and the other had 3 large pieces. Very odd. Or the side of bacon that had 2 decently cooked pieces, 1 well done piece, and 1 hardly cooked piece. We felt like this a bacon sampler...
What really blew our minds was another table of 6 that had three men in their 40’s wearing only bathrobes. When I say only I mean “only”. My wife had the misfortune of seeing one of the guy’s balls. He legitimately had it all out there for all of us to see. Seriously, who wears “only” a robe to have breakfast at a high-end resort. Why was this even allowed? For a place that charges $800+ a night I would have thought the staff would asked the guys who show up in robes (and drinking Heineken beers) that they need to wear something else.
We finally tried Lucy's for lunch. They are fresh and local. The list of specialty cocktails makes it worth a visit just to try them all. The food was either good or meh. Beet salad had really good flavors, beet leaves a nice touch. Fish and chips, too much batter and vinegar fries were nothing special. Waiter gave me a "birthday treat" consisting of their three ramekin desserts. Chocolate was good and flavors on other two just didn't come thru. The entrance and decor are nicely done. Each art piece has a story. Lunch was $84 not including tip...this is high end Yountville.
We had a lovely anniversary dinner. The food was outstanding. Really 4.5 stars.
We just celebrated our 31st anniversary and my wife's birthday at Lucy. Anthony was a wonderful server and host to us. Food was outstanding and the background music so apprpriate for the setting. A must place to visit.
Ww always love Lucy!
Great food and service at Lucy's - you leave feeling refreshed
Came for lunch while visiting the Yountville area. Lovely surroundings that are relaxing yet modern. Nice menu choices. Their soup and gnocchi appetizers were heavenly. The fish n chips had a light and crispy batter. The burger was juicy and flavorful. However, it is the kind of burger that once you pick it up you don't want to put it down. Save room for dessert! Had the trio creme brulee...mocha, S'Mores and root beer float. Service was attentive and friendly. Just as an FYI, valet parking only which is complimentary for dining guests. If you have a chance, definitely stop in for lunch or dinner at Lucy.
Great ambience and service. Good food. Very expensive wine list, but that was the only part where I wished I had brought my own bottle to uncork.
