Year after year, the Sunday Supper at Lucques offers creative, high-quality, delicious meals at a reasonable price. Never the same twice, the prix fixe dinner -- starter, main, dessert -- gives one a sample of the high-caliber, cutting-edge cooking that Goin's crew turns out consistently and smoothly. A wine pairing is optional, or you can order off the by-the-glass list. This Sunday (Nov 19) was one of her cookbook dinners where she invotes a food professional who has written a book and cooks off his/her menu, so we got four courses for $75 instead of the usual three for $52. Delicate gougeres spiced up with paper-thin slices of speck on a bed of kabocha squash chunks, followed by ricotta dumplings -- much like gnocchi in their delicacy -- and lobster bits and mushrooms in a light creamy sauce, then spatchcocked whole quail, beautifully roasted and lying on a soubise of scallions decorated with roasted grapes (!!), and to finish the best tarte tatin I have ever had with almond ice cream -- think haute pie a la mode, and they must have a whole bunch of individual cast iron ramekins to make the tartes.
Informed, attentive-but-not-intrusive service, and a casually elegant setting complete the experience. You can't go wrong. Subscribe to the menu e-mail and you can decide, each week, if this week's menu speaks to you. And if it does, you won't be disappointed. Unless you're a vegetarian or vegan -- that might be tough.
Lucques does the Cookbook meals every so often - they'll feature an author and make a meal from a specific new cookbook. We've been to several and they've all been fabulous, but Sunday's, with David Tanis, was extra-excellent. Great food, especially the Turkish Spoon Salad, which has inspired us to add it to our Christmas Dinner menu. The staff is just wonderful, and we've been there enough times that they're recognizing us and are stopping by to say hello and welcome us back. Which makes us want to go back even more!
Having been to Lucques several times over , say, 10 years. . . .it never disappoints.
Food is always in season, fresh, prepared uniquely. . . . .and always quite edible.
The service is superb; wait staff really aims to please and takes time to question and
provide / meet our needs.
We celebrated my husband's birthday a week late, but Lucques was his choice for dinner. We enjoyed the quiet patio, which was cool but not uncomfortable after a hot day. The waiter was knowledgeable about the menu, so we went with the lobster and the pork chop. Both were delicious! The stone fruit appetizer (with pomegranate seeds & figs) was delicate and tasty -- not the kind of thing one could make at home. But I'll always remember the melt-in-my-mouth churros with chocolate! We'll be back, for sure!
We love Lucques. The staff is attentive and generous. The food is great. My only compunction is not exactly related to the restaurant but to the fact that for the first third (even half) of our meal the table next to us was excessively loud. Why do diners at an otherwise refined restaurant need to be extra-loud? Otherwise all was incredible.
I’ve dined here several times. Food and service was great, as always. My only disappointment this time was that I ordered a nice $17 glass of Pinot, and it was served in a tiny, thick wine glass like when you order a cheap wine at a family restaurant. Was not able to enjoy the wine. I was really surprised.
But otherwise fantastic.
Lucques is an old standby that continually delivers in terms of excellent food and ambience. It is a rare gem in that it is a 'quiet' restaurant where one can easily conduct a conversation without yelling; you can actually hear the person seated across the table!
Lucques is authentic in ambiance and food, so if you are looking for an authentic French experience Lucques is the place. My friend had the potato gnocchi and it was a simply dish superbly cooked and presented. I had stomach trouble so the chef cooked up a vegetarian dish that was tasty but not overly seasoned. I can't wait to return.
I made it to the Lucques for the first time and expected to have a very good dinner that night. I sat in the patio area adjacent to the dining room inside. Diners were pretty full in the area at 6:30pm. I ordered a glass of Cabernet. A waitress took my order for dinner. I picked a first plate of baby Romaine, cherry tomatoes, avocados and vignette dressing and a second plate of Salmon, rice, pakley, and plain yogurt. The first one looked large leaves but you need to chop them into pieces of them. The taste was fairly OK. It costed $16.00. I don't think the price is right because any meat doesn't include. The second one looked a creative art of Salmon on rice and plain yogurt. The taste was pretty good. This fish was a small portion of meat. It costed $38.00. I don't think the small size of Salmon is right for $38. Overall, I give this one star. If you want to eat at the Lucques, you would have to spend a lot of money on the bill. This restaurant demands that the money is no object!!!
I have been eating at Lucques for many years and the food is always excellent. However, the restaurant itself has gotten shabby over the years and could really benefit from a make over. In particular, the dead vine all over the patio is simple unacceptable. The hanging light fixture over the seating area for those waiting for a table is dirty on the bottom and needs to be cleaned I would imagine the same is true for the similar fixtures over the booths. Please upgrade the restaurant's milieu to the level of the food.
Lucques is our go-to restaurant for everything from a 'non-cooking' lunch or dinner, a meal out with friends or family, a celebratory birthday party using the whole restaurant, or a catering assist from Lucques or their Larder for any holiday or special event at home. To me the food is beyond good restaurant fare. It is fresh, seasonal, unique and delicious -- a new taste every time. For our dinner last Wednesday, the duck crostini were a great new take on chopped chicken liver on toast, and the braised brisket was meltingly good in its complex, vegetable-laden gravy. The patio was the place to be with the shadows of the trees in the early evening.
The flight of wines was shared by the three of us - all were good. The 2015 Roar Chardonnay was a great match with the chicken soup and ricotta dumplings We also shared a bottle of Samsara as well. Then, expresso with dessert, and no one has ever made us a honey cake with roasted apples and cinnamon ice cream before, not even my grandma! Yum!

Why is the restaurant charging Health Care fee?? And why it is a percentage of your dinner and drinks? Such a rip off! They should be prohibited to do such a thing. The health care fee ruins your whole experience. Shame on you Lucques!
