Everything was great except the tables are too close to each other. It’s hard to have a private conversation.
This is a lovely restaurant with wonderful food but our experience this time was marred by sitting next to a table where the gentleman spoke loudly enough we couldn't help hearing the conversation which was all about the woman who left him. The back room is more spaciou and a better spot to dine.
The problem with Lucques is that it is so extraordinary and such a special place I would like to dine there more

Place to celebrate special occasions!
Went last Friday for Valentines day special. Outside of the desert and caviar blinis as starter, food was ok but not at all where it should have been for that price. Service was particularly terrible. For exemple servers thought it could be normal to rush us and push next plate even when previous ones were not done. We took wine pairing and saw the somelier once (out of 6 different wines). All in all it felt that place is running on its reputation and it sounds to me now they don't deserve it. Very disapointed.

All very delicious but especially the braised short ribs
An excellent meal with the only downside being we were asked to sit on a sofa next to a drafty doorway until our entire party of five assembled. Three of us arrived a couple of minutes before the other two and instead of showing us to our seats, we were told to wait on the couch and once we settled there were hustled to buy drinks. I thought that extremely bad form for a fine, upscale restaurant. The meal itself was exquisite and the waiter was attentive and knowledgable. Curiously, we would have been much more likely to buy a drink while waiting had we been at our table. Balancing a wine glass while sitting on a couch is more of a challenge than having that same glass on a stable table in front of you.
Good food, good vibe, great waiter and somelier.
We always go for our anniversary and love it! We also love the Sunday suppers. Never a bad meal.

Such a gorgeous setting, we had a wonderful server and the food was - as always - incredibly delicious and beautifully presented. It's a special spot and a bit of a treat, but so worth it!
One of my favorite restaurants. I have never been disappointed with the food or the service.
We (party of 4) all had the DineLA special. The starters were a nettles soup (excellent) and a vegetarian carpaccio (mostly white grapefruit), good. The entrees were a chorizo grilled cheese sandwich which was generously sized but quite greasy; and the accompanying salad was so over-salted, none of the four of us could eat it after tasting one bite. We have been to Lucques many times and this was definitely not their best day.
Very good and creative food. Great place to dine. Always enjoy coming to this restaurant.

Great food and service
First table offered for the two of us in an otherwise virtually empty restaurant left something to be desired. We were seated a corner next to group. After asking we were moved to a better, quieter table but with a slight attitude by host. Otherwise food great and our server was delightful.
Although it is not new, in some sense, Lucques is the 'new' Campanile. The atmosphere is the new 'old Hollywood', that is, Hollywood denizens that came up in the 80's and 90's. No, thee atmosphere and food are both on the soothing side, in contrast to, say, Bavel. Lucques can no longer be considered 'cutting edge', which is OK, I would love to afford to be able to eat there weekly.
Everything was delicious except, oddly, the chocolate tart, which tasted like they forgot to add sugar to it?!?
We went for DineLA, and had duck and fish as mains. They were really good, but the way they were served in medium-sized shallow bowls meant that all the elements were mixed together and I couldn't really tell what was what, which I found a little disapointing. I think the place is just a tad too dark. The appetizers and great bread were about the best things.
If I went there again, I would order soup, pears, lamb kibbeh, and maybe suckling pick or short ribs.

What a wonderful way to celebrate a special occasion. We had a superb time and were so pleased to take advantage of the dual DineLA menu on a Sunday evening. Others in our party ordered the roasted beet I had the scallops which were perfect thin slices, tender and flavorful.
Two of us had the duck entree, and one ordered the fish (which I got to sample--delicious). The duck was juicy and practically falling off the bone, the bread pudding, dates and smoked bacon added wonderful accents.
While we enjoyed a small taste of the chocolate truffle tart, the two of us who selected the gingerbread coupe dessert were blown away by the balance of crunchy cookie/spiced pear/tangy cranberry sorbet/creamy egg nog ice cream. Wow!
Friendly and spot on service complemented the delicious food...this is absolutely one of the best DineLA bargains in town!

They made all the people who arrived with reservations all wait before seating which was odd.
The Sunday Prix Fixe Menu is a special treat and incredible bargin. The prawns or beef made for delicious choices as the main. Service is very individualized. It's worth getting the wine pairings just to learn the intimate details of each wine accompanying the course. Staff as always in gracious and creates a warm and caring environment in which to dine. We are repeat diners who find it an excellent way to spend Sunday evenings.
The best pear salad I’ve ever had in my life. The apple fritter is closer to a chewy donut but also the best apple and ice cream combo ever. It is a well orchestrated symphony of flavors and textures that makes you want to meet the chef to find out how he figured it all out.
Music was too loud even after requesting that it be turned down. Had a veggie lasagna that was overpriced and just ok.

I was there for New Year’s Eve.
I love Lucques, the room, the people, and usually the food. Perhaps my NYE expectations were too high. Love a prix fix for the holiday. I wanted a curated evening! We appreciated the flexibility to seat us in the main room rather than the garden, upon request. The scallop carpaccio didn’t send me. The start off with no ‘amuse buche’ (but yes, terrific bread and almonds and olives) after spending $200 per person plus drinks seemed chintzy. Same sense of not quite enough generosity with no start off of a complimentary wine or that the champagne complimentary toast was held only for midnight. (We missed it, and all the ‘fun’ and party favor — it was not offered to guests who departed early.) Just not quite enough grace for the event. The music was grand — loved it. We were four; we did not sit and kvetch about the food. (Even the dessert, which none of us particularly liked.) We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. (We did comment to one another the next morning about our minor disappointments.) But the place and the intent and our own company made it all work. Just sorry that it was not quite all I wanted it to be (with out of town guests)— even knowing that NYE comes with over-the -top expectations. Will we come again? Of course! For New Year’s? Not so sure.
Best dinner I have had in years. Pear appetizer was light and perfectly dressed. The suckling pig was heavenly, and the short rib is what Lucques is rightfully known for. Lemon and pomegranate dessert was a terrific surprise. Not inexpensive, but worth every penny. And great hospitality.
1st Wedding Anniversary - Experience was wonderful!
Overall Great dining experience. The food was excellent, combined with the ourstanding service, we couldn't have had a better evening. Nice music in the background was most pleasing.
Amazing food as always but the waiter forgot about us after we weren't initially ready to order, and my salad was overdressed and the dishes were not as interesting or creative as I have experienced previously.

We had a delicious Christmas Eve dinner with delicately flavored courses, great combinations of fresh local ingredients and wonderful service.
One of our favorite places for a romantic meal with great food, warm atmosphere, and a friendly staff. Easy location, valet parking. Perfect. Then a short hop down to the Beverly Center for some shopping.
Never disappoints. Took friends who had never been there. Good value on Sunday supper menu.
