The best steak for two in Los Angeles. Cooked perfectly with a rich sauce and light arugula salad. We had such an amazing experience
I read a review on Lucques (in the NYT or WSJ?) and it sounded like a real food place for people who know food. So we’re here visiting our son and everyone agreed we had to go. Loved the mixed crowd, and the food was excellent. Everything. I never have nothing but good things to say abt a restaurant. So thank you. It took us over an hr to get to you from Marina where we’re staying and it was worth it.
It is rare to find a restaurant where the experience from start to finish has been so exemplary. I arrived early and solo (last minute business cancellation), but this seemed to be no issue to the hostess or staff. I was escorted to a nice table for two and immediately was offered water and 30 seconds later, the very able and very pleasant waiter, Sarah welcomed me. Because I had “cheated” and reviewed the menu on OpenTable beforehand; I had a good idea I might order the braised short ribs, so we discussed red wine options, settling on a bierzo. It was a perfect match for the beef: two fall off the bone short ribs over whipped potatoes accompanied by Swiss chard. A wonderful addition was a generous dollop of horseradish creme fraiche. If this weren’t enough pleasure, dessert was perhaps even better: “brûlée’d” thin cheesecake, covered with a creamy citrus sauce, a variety of citrus slices (including candied kumquat) and a spoonful of cara cara sorbet. Heavenly.
Lucques was really good as it has been for years. Everyone from the server, to the wine man, to the manager, to all the people helping at the table and of course the people in the kitchen could not have been more accommodating. Thanks.

We have eaten at Lucques many times, but this was our first with our teen age daughters who are 16 & 18. We all loved the experience, from the delicious and creative food including the desserts (we tried three of them) to the attentive service everything was excellent. We enjoyed our time as a family and the whole experience, and we strongly recommend this wonderful establishment.

I have always loved Lucques, but was extremely disappointed has with our experience last Sunday.
The food was great but felt very overpriced for what it was. Service was OK but not great.
I'd give it 5 stars but mushrooms with gremolata side was absurdly rubbery and tasted very basic. And the cheesecake dessert was far shy of a piece of cheesecake. And ridiculously priced.
Exceptional food prepared and served by true professionals who are knowledgeable, warm and personable.
Attended the annual cassoulet night and per usual it was three courses of ridiculousness... a delicious salad and dessert book-ending the main event: a giant pot of heaven. Great restaurant that I need to visit more often.
We were there for Lucque's annual Cassoulet Night for the 6th time in the last 7 years. A truly great experience as it is any time you visit this classic farm to table restaurant.
This is about our 10th Cassoulet Night. Love it - everything is perfectly done. And I just finished the leftovers.

The cassoulet was tasty but incredibly small portion. Also rather dry. Compare to Republique!
I did the Cassoulet to Go and it was amazing. Definitely worth the money.
Lucques is an upscale restaurant with excellent food and service. It is esthetically very attractive. The wine list has many good selections of both red and white.
The prices are commensurate with the food and wine but well worth it. Curbside valet parking is available and a glance at the adjacent parking lot, usually filled with Rolls, Bentleys and Ferraris, will tell you as much about Lucques as any review.
As always Lucques is a welcoming environment...with a well trained and considerate staff. And once you’ve passed through the scrum of guests waiting to be seated a delightful dining experience.
Always a pleasure to be in this beautiful space with outstanding food. I have celiac disease and they were very helpful and accommodating.
Very overpriced, food was indistinguishable, and the restaurant was so noisy that we had to yell to hear each other.
Going to Lucques is always a wonderful experience. This time I was taking my sister, who lives in Northern California. She has heard me rave about Lucques for so many years that she wanted to try it. We were both delighted with our meal. The short ribs were succulent, and the onions, mashed potatoes and horseradish cream were the perfect accompaniment. I will add that I'm usually more of a fish person so I've never ordered the short ribs from Lucques before, but I know it is one of the restaurant's signature dishes so finally after many years I decided to try it. The ricotta dumplings were also excellent. My sister ordered the same dishes that I did, and she liked them a lot, too. Lucques is such a comfortable restaurant to go to. Even waiting in the front by the fire for your fellow diner to come is comforting. The patio is lovely, and this is one of the few restaurants in L.A. that is not too noisy. I've been coming here from time to time since it opened twenty years ago, and it has never disappointed. Oh, yes, the Santa Barbara Pinot Noir was also excellent.
Front of house looked nice but we were in the covered outdoor area. Siberia. Rushed service. Mediocre food. Wouldn’t return.
terrible experience — valet keyed my husband’s car and the restaurant did nothing despite promises to resolve it. menu is tired. service is mediocre at best. everything costs 25% more than it should.
I always take my out of town guest to Lucques. They never disappoint.
Family in town
One of my favorite L.A. restaurants that I don't visit enough....Lucques was unbelievably quiet during this lunchtime reservation I had made for a friend's birthday....think we were one of maybe three tables during lunch hour. How can this be? Lucques' food is DIVINE, atmosphere is heavenly.....our waiter was pleasant and not over-bearing or hovering....plus it snowed for three seconds outside that day - unusual in L.A.!
All around, a great experience. I will be back sooner rather than later.

Service attentive, but not cloying. Food cooked perfectly. Two nearby tables had males talking to impress....how does loud impress?
Don’t go on a cold night. The heaters were off and staff wouldn’t turn them on. Not only was it not pleasant eating in a down coat but I swear my meal cooled more quickly. Would otherwise be great as always.
One of the best dining experiences I’ve had. We went for Sunday Supper and enjoyed the wine pairings. Loved the knowledgeable and unpretentious staff who made us feel like friends! Can’t wait to go back!

Great for a special evening
My husband and I had always wanted to try the Sunday suppers, and we went last Sunday to support our friend, Amelia, the farmer you celebrated that night. The meal was fabulous, Isabelle, our waitress was just delightful and so attentive, she really made our meal a wonderful experience.
All the staff, from Christian, and all who greeted us made us feel so welcome and like family. The ambiance was warm and romantic as well.
And to top it off, I was thrilled to be able to meet Suzanne and thank her and shake her hand! So exciting!

I love the food at Lucques and haven't ever had a bad meal. But this time the falafel lunch entree was very dry.
A place with Perfect atmosphere and great foods! Love it!
