We were unable to go due to the mudslides in Monticeto. Also, we were unable to cancel our reservation, apparently for the same reason. We have been before and had a very nice dinner. We were sorry we could not go this time. Hopefully we can go another time soon.
We ate there twice in the 3 days we were in Santa Barbara. It is a beautiful restaurant and the service was excellent. We did not order steaks which is there specialty..several dishes were excellent while some were so so at dinner. Brunch was better and the corn beef hash was the best I’ve had. The matzoh ball soup was also great.
We were celebrating my husband’s special birthday, and we were seated at table in the corner. It was quiet when we first sat down, but it soon became noisy.
The food was fantastic from the fabulous steak, the red wine sauce. We loved the sautéed mushrooms we ordered to put on the steak. The sugar snap peas were the best I have ever tasted.
The gratis birthday sundae was magnificent!
We were very pleased with the entire meal, although my husband commented how the shrimps were much smaller in the shrimp cocktail than the last time.
Very nice establishment. Food continues to deliver. Steaks are well prepared and savory. I have a problem with management. We had great food, but very little follow up - which is odd for a place that sells $75 steaks. My wife went to the wash room and as she was returning was accosted by a table (a woman at a large round table actually). The woman told my wife to send over a waiter as they wanted drinks. My wife (who clearly wasn’t dressed as a waiter or hostess) tried to explain that she didn’t work there, but the woman only sneered and ignored hers and said send someone over.
I tried to talk with the manager on duty about the altercation and he came up empty - very little apology. I’d expect a level of decorum from a place like this and something to be done.
A little pricey, but oh so good. We both ordered the petite filet mignon with baked potato and a side of asparagus. Quite simply the best meal of our week-long trip up the coast from San Diego. Aside from an obnoxiously loud lady at the table next to us who rattled on non-stop for over an hour the restaurant was comfortable and inviting.
This was our first visit to Lucky's and it did not disappoint. We were celebrating our 52 Wedding Anniversary and the atmosphere, food, and service could not be beat. It made our special day even more special. We do not live in the area and made the trip to Santa Barbara especially to go to Lucky's and we really enjoyed our evening. We will surely be returning.
We got to Lucky’s about 45 minutes before our reservation & they were ready to seat us but we decided to sit at the bar & have a drink beforehand. The bar had a nice upbeat vibe to it & they had the World Series in which made it even more upbeat! Be good prepared to spend a good amount of money here but it’s definitely worth it!! Most of the plates are easily shareable & can be brought home as leftovers!
Always enjoy Lucky's! So much so that we drive 50 miles for this dining experience. The quality of beef is superb and the Chef executes perfectly cooked to order steaks. The potato skins here are a guilty pleasure. We enjoy many of the starters and sides. Abalone lovers will not be disappointed. Bartender prepares excellent drinks. The wine list offers several half bottles at reasonable pricing. Only constructive comment: The Caesar Salad could be a tad more garlicky anchovy flavor...but we do request extra anchovy and the Chef gladly accommodates. As for service, it is professional yet very friendly. The restaurant has many "locals" as well as tourists. While we have an incredible steakhouse within a few miles of our home, we just enjoy the trek north to enjoy Lucky's. This steakhouse menu has lots to offer beyond the basics, and the quality and preparation are exceptional -- just a nice get out of the local neighborhood for a date...
