Lucky Ratings and Reviews
The Diver Scallops were done to PERFECTION! Each one cooked to its perfect doneness. The dish was beautifully displayed with roasted cauliflower and cauliflower mash, chives and some other (green onion?) ingredient. It also had the most delicious small cubed, deep-fried croutons. I'd highly, highly recommend this dish!
My friend thoroughly enjoyed her buttermilk chicken - she said it was crispy on the outside and very moist and tender on the inside.
The Blistered Shishito peppers were done perfectly with sea salt and some ground red pepper (?) flakes.
Our server, Jeremiah, was eager and attentive to our needs, checking in to see how we're doing throughout dinner and quick to fill our water glasses.
This was our first visit to Lucky. We found the entire staff to be extremely courteous, enthusiastic, and ready to help in any way. We were seated in the bar area next to a window which was a great location. Our waitress was very knowledgeable and helped with our decisions. The craft cocktail options were really good. We chose several small plates and enjoyed them all. We definitely plan to return and recommend Lucky to others.
I have been here three times. The food here is very good and expertly prepared but overpriced in my opinion. Eighteen dollars for fried chicken is a lot. Twenty eight dollars for a 4 oz piece of grouper is a lot. Drinks are fantastic here but also expensive. I'd like to see them change up the menu a bit since it's been the same for at least a year. Bottom line is that you will spend $100 to $150 for two people here for 3 to 4 star food. The acoustics in this restaurant are absolutely terrible. High ceilings and no buffers. At two thirds full we could not have a conversation anymore. If you're looking for a quiet place to take your sweety and relax and enjoy each other's anecdotes from the day, this is not the place. The food and drinks are worth coming back for if they were cheaper, but it's the atmosphere that's a deal breaker.
Roanoke is Lucky to have this place. We enjoyed every dish and will be back. That the Rappahanock Oyster Company is sourcing Lucky is a compliment. We had some of each, half shell. My significant other chose a pork shoulder for her main. Sweet braised perfection. I stuck with oysters, roasted. And really good golden beet salad.
I was pleasantly surprised. Excellent and friendly service. The food was excellent. I had the snapper special which was slightly over-cooked, but moist enough. The fried chicken is loved by many. I tried it. It was moist, but the coating was ordinary. Bacon is used a lot with the vegetables, and for me this detracts from the flavors.
Overall, I will return. Just pick and choose and you'll have great experience.
First time here. Menu is a bit limited. Me wife didn't see any appetizers she wanted, but the roasted oysters were excellent, although pricy for only four. My wife's scallops were very good, while my ribeye was just OK. Noise level is high with not much to absorb the sounds.
Very good staff with owners that take pride in their restaurant and reputation. Wait staff and bartenders are very knowledgeable and friendly, food is very authentic and great tasting, and cocktails are hand crafted and amazing. Overall a very good restaurant to impress the out of town guest, a date, or to celebrate a good day or special occasion.
Good overall experience. Bartenders very knowledgeable, friendly, and creative. Noise level a little high for an intimate evening. Food was very good and served without a long wait. Appetizer, bread plate, was very good. I recommend this restaurant and will go back.
We decided to try Lucky for a nice dinner to celebrate our anniversary. They seated us right next to the front door, and the rest of the meal felt a little awkward after that. It was not exactly a nice, quiet, romantic dinner. The food was good. It can be best described as a mix between "spectacular" and "OK". The desserts and coffee were definitely the highlight of the evening. Overall, we did not think the meal was commensurate with the cost. The service was good, but not quite "stellar." I could see it being a great place to go grab a cocktail, but we will likely not be back for dinner anytime soon.
This was our first visit to Lucky. We are not locals. We were very pleasantly surprised! Cuisine was original and excellent. The bar was world-class; fabulous selection of liquors - NY/South FL good! Rye whisky menu was as good as I have seen anywhere... of course, with the exception of NY, LA, blah, blah, blah. Please do not spoil the ambiance by bringing children; this is an adult venue. Clientele were well dressed. In Roanoke, VA, who would have guessed...
We came to Lucky for our anniversary dinner. The food and service were amazing. Loved the peppers and roasted oysters for appetizers. Only disappointment was they ran out of the scallops and mussels. That said, the beet and goat cheese salad was fantastic, and the braised pork was mouthwatering. Overall, we had a wonderful and enjoyable dinner.
Excellent restaurant! Menu was varied with plenty of good options. My son had the duck breast which was well cooked and flavorful. Scallops were perfectly cooked not over done. Gnocchi also tasty. The pork over grits had good flavor but Presentation wasn't the best - all beige. Great cocktails and nice wine selection we're return if we were in Roanoke again.
