Best fried chicken ever! (Sorry Mom). Excellent drinks also
Excellent service by very attentive waitress. Food was prompt and very tasty. Ambience was average--its a fairly small restaurant. Noise level from the room with the bar was high; we were seated in the adjacent room which was fine on the noise level. I am glad we were not in the bar room. I would use this restaurant again for special occasions. The price is up there and more than I would spend for a weekly experience. But I am still giving this restaurant 5 stars based on its service and food. This was our second trip and the wait staff was much better this time.
Lobster risotto to die for after a goat cheese and beet salad. Incredible Oregon Pinot. Outstanding service. Only downside is the energy level next to the bar makes it hard to hear companions. Doesn’t deter from enjoying the place!!
Very organized for Valentine’s Day but app and meal were delivered so fast it took away from the experience. I get it though, a lot of pressure on one day to meet a high demand. The food and drinks were very good, as always. This is a go to spot in Roanoke. It doesn’t disappoint.
Awesome our favorite restaurant
Lucky has priced itself out of my budget. Forty one dollars for the ribeye was way too much. Yes, it was good, but not 41 bucks good.
Tables are too close to each other. I realize space is limited, but it was hard to have a conversation with my tablemate due to the next table being so close.
We've eaten at Lucky several times and enjoyed it, but I think it's time to move on.
Top notch food, drinks and service. Superb attention to detail and amazing presentation. Knowledgeable servers and inventive bartenders. Not sure who the chef is and what his/her training is, but the taste of each dish is beyond description. An extremely pleasant experience that will be repeated many time again.
The Best place in Roanoke and surrounding area to have dinner and drinks ! Fresh sourced food and hand crafted cocktails that will be hard to beat ! I love good food and this is my go to place to get my fix
Lucky is one of our faves for date night! Amazing food. Food is consistently great! Drink menu is off the charts and super creative! We will be back!!
Everyone was wonderful. Enjoyed our evening
Drinks, food, and ambience are perfect for a weekday night or a weekend night.
This is my favorite restaurant in Roanoke. The service is always amazing.
My wife was happy with her mussels appitizer and scallops entree. My choice of the fried chicken was a disaster that could have been easily prevented by some common sense by the chef. All he/she had to do was to NOT place the crispy chicken in a quarter-inch of liquid from the greens, but sadly, that's what happened. The result? Soggy fried chicken. Not for me: we'll not be trying that again.
Great food...cheese board and scallops both amazing. Server was a tad overly-animated; not the worst of things. Cocktails were good though my second was not the same Smoke Show I had originally ordered. It was still good so I did not bother to mention it or complain. We’ll be back.
The food was outstanding, especially the fried Brussels sprouts, lamb shank on polenta, creme brulee, and panna cotta.
We wanted to get together with friends some place downtown and chose Lucky. Lucky has always been a great choice and once again exceeded our high expectations. Three diners ordered the fish special and one went with the fried chicken. We were all pleased. Service was spectacular, attentive without being pushy. Funny not phony.
Wonderful fried chicken ! Nice staff too . We'll be back
We had a generally positive experience at Lucky. We would go back for drinks and snacks, the service and especially ambiance were fine. However, the flavor profiles and presentation of the food felt dated and sometimes confused.
The small Caesar salad, which was slightly overdressed and slightly under seasoned, had half a blistered tomato on top of it for no apparent reason. It was a fairly traditional Caesar so the tomato was confusing to us, it also lacked flavor.
Similarly bizarre, the pork shoulder entree came with cold mixed greens piled on top of hot pork and grits.
The three desserts on the menu felt like hold overs from the 90s. The pannacotta we ordered was served in a ramekin rather than turned out. Hence it was more of a custard than a pannacotta. (I also have a sneaking suspicion that the pannacotta was the same custard they use for their creme brûlée).
Ultimately, we had 3 cocktails and a glass of wine with dinner and the bar service was good. However, when I ordered a mezcal old fashioned using Vida off menu they brought me a cocktail primarily made with reposada tequila instead.
The waitress said they thought the cocktail would be better with reposada. In fact, it appeared they were serving me a tequila cocktail off their bar menu that also had Vida mezcal in it. It was a fine drink, but please bring me the drink that I want.
Alternatively, tell me if the bartender is only comfortable making drinks from house recipes or if they are too busy to give me what I asked for, which was some mezcal, bitters, and a bit of sugar with ice.
I recommend that you try Lucky if you’re in Roanoke. However, control your expectations, especially if you dine at similar price points in big cities. We’ll likely give Lucky another chance but it will be for the bar and ambience rather than for the food.
Had reservations for an 8pm seating. Promptly greated and seated at one of the few tables near the hosted kiosk, not in the main bar area. Weird pungent odor imminating from what a guess was the prep kitchen. The food was very good but the bad smell hurt the over all experience for us. Had the special which included bass sourced from North Carolina. Also had a house salad, which was excellent, as was the bread pudding for desert. If you go, ask to be seated in at a table near the bar section.
Each course of the meal was excellent; from the oysters to the blueberry and bacon salad to the braised lamb shank. The cocktails were lovely as well.
Our waiter was absolutely amazing and should be recognized for how sweet and great he was!
Fantastic food, drinks and service! Best meal we've ever had in Roanoke!
I love the food at Lucky, and enjoy the atmosphere. They are well-known for their cocktails. It gets quite busy/crowded and thus noisy pretty easily though, so not ideal for much of a group.
Always great service, best food in Roanoke and great drinks.
Delicious food and a good wine list. Service was great. Very knowledgeable about the menu. Portions were good for the prices.
Dinner , Cocktails and Service were amazing!! Scallops , fried chicken and the Brussels sprouts were delicious. Can’t wait to go back.
We were running late on NYE and they were still so accommodating and kind- sat us promptly and the whole experience was fantastic. This is our favorite spot in Roanoke- the cocktails are delightful and the food delicious. Our waiter was amazing per usual.
This place is a gem. You could walk right by if you aren't paying attention. The noise was a bit loud but that's only because it was so busy and such a great restaurant. They have local everything! And also have the BEST craft cocktails in the city. I recommend the Smoking Show (or smoke show).
Lucky is one of our absolute favorite downtown restaurants.
We ate a Lucky while stopping through Roanoke. It was pretty delicious. My SO got the pork shoulder and I got the scallops. They both were delicious. Wine selection could be a bit better, and my cocktail was bit strongly mixed, which I normally don't mind truthfully. (just stating to be prepared haha :) It was a bit busy so I'd suggest getting a reservation. It was a great dinner and I would definitely recommend Lucky.
Amazing as always
Shishito peppers are excellent. Cocktails and wine selection were very good.
Great service and fresh tasty menu. Nice selection of salads and appetizers. Specials too offered for entree.
Never disappointed with the menu, craft cocktails and service! Lucky is my favorite restaurant in Roanoke.
The absolute, most fabulous place to have a meal and a cocktail in the star city.
Always great. Staff are incredible. Highly recommend.
Always always the best cocktails. The entrees are impeccable. Highly recommend.
Food was excellent. Comfortable setting. Good Service. A happening place which creates a somewhat noisy setting for conversation. Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our experience there. Can certainly recommend it.
As always, a perfect evening!
We dined at Lucky two nights ago. Once again, we were not disappointed. The hostess warmly greeted us (I'd made a reservation) directed us to our booth. The server was very cordial and gracious. I think the manager delivered our appetizer. We had the cheese board and fried brussel sprouts as appetizers. The main meal for my husband and son was the Special of the Day - Striped Bass on a bed of rice, with pureed squash and some chili puree. My meal was the Roasted Beet and Spinach salad. All the food was excellent. It was the first time my husband and I had seen our son eat all his meal, in a very long time!
We really enjoy dining at Lucky and would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone!
