Lucky 32 Southern Kitchen - Greensboro Ratings and Reviews
I have not eaten here in about a year. I remember the food tasting better than this time.
The lettuce in the salad has some brown edges and just plain. The potatoes in the chicken pie were a little hard. I got the beats as a side dish (did not like them at all). It was just kind of Blah!!
As always, everything was good and the service was good. I really have no complaints to mention. The only things I didn't like were the tomato soup and the winter vegetable salad. The soup flavor was decent, but appeared to have been thickened with corn starch or something similar and I didn't like that. The winter vegetable salad was just ok. I didn't know the root vegetables would be cold, but I didn't ask. That was my fault. Overall, I enjoyed the time since it was for my wife and everyone else enjoyed the dishes. I will return though and I do recommend this restaurant.
We did not enjoy the food. The salmon had dark meat and a thick scale on the bottom. The greens were so tough you could not chew them. The cheeseburger was average at best. The desert came to the table so frozen we could not eat it, we were expecting much better food for the price we paid. The service was excellent and the atmosphere very nice.
We went to Lucky 32 for an anniversary and had a great meal. Our server was on point despite it being a very busy night and had friendly and informative responses to our questions. She was patient with indecision. The restaurant is decorated very nicely, and the food is delicious. I will say that the menu can get a bit daunting in regards to unfamiliar words if you don't go out to "nice" restaurants often, and it was a little hard to figure out exactly what you were ordering. Also, the noise level was higher than I would have liked and while we could still carry on a conversation, it required the slight raising of our voices. As a very nice touch, we were surprised when our server brought out a complimentary dessert to celebrate our anniversary, which was unexpected and very appreciated. Overall a great experience and we'll go back!
Came here for my birthday brunch. Food was tasty. Table ordered/ French roast - yummy. Veggie omelette, eggs Benedict - was a huge hit on the fried green tomatoes , 2 folks ordered black bean cakes. The cakes, which I always order , were pretty dry and lacked the usual flavor. But loved the crispy outside. Still love them regardless. The downside today : server seemed to stay miffed after I mentioned for her to move her tray full of coffee , water etc away from my face. Not only is it rude to lean over the table while holding a tray 6 inches from someone's face and over their lap, but it's super not safe. I mentioned jokingly that I had a tray dumped on me in the same manner on 3 occasions. She then held it back while still tilting the tray towards me ...... the crazy part was that the manager was behind her with another year of drinks. After 3 times of it being pointed out, he finally took her tray. We had to Ask for details ... the breakfast special , expansions....she seemed annoyed. She never offered to go over the menu or make suggestions . She dropped off food and "poof" was gone . Never asked if we needed anything - which we did. Never asked who would like water ... etc. had to ask for refill of hot water . She asked one person , who had ordered French toast , how they wanted the omelette cooked. What? She did ask if we wanted dessert --- funny, was my birthday and I put that on open
Table but no mention was made or dessert offered. If this was my first visit , it would be my last. But the food is tasty and the service is usually top notch. But today my birthday brunch was a bust . 🙁
Cold vegetables returned to table as COLD
Water glasses not kept full
Suffolk chicken tough and over cooked
Not terribly busy but staff seemed aloft not making eye contact with guest when passing table. Hard to get someone’s attention at times when waiter was unavailable.
Been here before and a very different impression. What’s wrong here?
Systems of Service is what makes Quaintence Weaver restaurants so unique. Our bottle of wine took 10 minutes to hit the table and the server was not familiar with wine service. She could not open the bottle and had to get help from someone else and come back with the bottle opened. I ordered the bottle, so have been presented with a taste, then the next woman poured, then me who is a woman for next serve and last, my Dad. Instead, the bottle was opened and full glasses poured for me and my family. Unbelievable! The app salad came with my Dad's meal, his Kentucky Ribeye steak was rare (ordered Med Rare) and my Shrimp and Grits were cold. It's like it was pulled out of the fridge, microwaved a little and put into a bowl. I had to ask for the manager to come to the table to look at the steak, he removed it from the table and they offered to grill a new steak. Let me remind you, having worked for this restaurant chain, I know the server should have been back after 2 bite/ 2 min to check our food. Anytime a streak hits the table, the runner/ server is to request the guest to cut into the steak before leaving the table to make sure it's cooked to temp and can be enjoyed with the tables party immediately. When the newly grilled steak hit the table, it was more rare than the first steak and had to go back to the kitchen yet for a 2nd time as well. The steak and shrimp & grits were comped from the bill which was nice but not necessary. We just wanted to enjoy Thanksgiving night with excellent food, from a well trained staff member. Very disappointed!
Went here for Thanksgiving dinner with my boyfriend & it was wonderful! Lucky 32 is always a favorite of mine, but this night, the service was exceptional. For such a busy night, it was not loud & our waiter was very attentive. We arrived 10 minutes before our reservation & were taken immediately back to our table. Best of all, my boyfriend proposed!
The service, especially from our waitress, was excellent and the atmosphere was refined. The appetizers, bread and collards were very good, while the entrées were lackluster. The ribeye steaks had by three of us were very fatty (more than a typical ribeye) and the shrimp & grits lacked flavor and spice. Overall, we had an enjoyable time, but this won't be a top choice for us for fine dining.
Food was great and service was outstanding. Handled my reservation well. So why did I recommend the place a 3/5? Because they didn't offer a military discount for in my opinion an over-priced meal. Although it was very good. To be honest with you, I was really disappointed in the reception when I quietly presented my comments to the maitre de restaurant -- enough so that I probably made an inappropriate comment to him above earshod as I left and in the presence of other customers. Something to the effect that , it was veterans like myself who sacrificed that allow him the ability and freedom to offer this business as American enterprise and charge what he thinks is appropriate. For the probably inappropriate comments I made as I left, I apologize. But that doesn't change how I truly feel. I will not return.
Restaurant was noisy and busy, but to their credit, our reserved table was ready for us when we came in the door. Pork medallions were very dry. Sides were not hot at all. Was definitely disappointed with the food this time. The menu has a nice variety which is always good for fussier eaters who don't want to eat goat cheese and unusual ingredients.
The food was delicious. I️t was a group of 4 of us and we all enjoyed our meal. Shrimp and grits is a must try. The only negative is the desserts were HORRIBLE. The bread pudding had a strong alcohol flavor and was very dense. The brownie was unbelievably hard and the peanut butter pie was served FROZEN. Food was amazing, dessert definitely needs some work... also for $18 shrimp and grits you don’t get much. Food was really good though. We all agreed we would go back in the future.
Great food and great service. Our out-of-town friend was craving some good "NC-esque" food that was above traditional NC BBQ. He was quite happy with the selection and the flavors, as were we. Lucky 32 offers really good value, but the quality is what prompted us to make the 30-mile trek for dinner.
The service was a little slow, otherwise, the waiter was attentive and tried his best to please us. Those who had the hamburgers enjoyed their meal quite a bit. The chicken basil soup had absolutely no flavor, but the beet salad was excellent. My husband's beef stew and rice was a little too spicy. Still, my girlfriend enjoyed her bean cake entree. Unfortunately, there is not one much can do about the noise level. The only quiet area in the restaurant is on the bar level and, even with a reservation, there weren't any tables remaining to accommodate us. The deserts were outstanding and the portions enough to share with two or three people. While Lucky 32 isn't always spot on, it does have a nice selection of menu items, the ambiance, though noisy, is beautiful and the staff friendly! A good value that beats out a lot of their competitors!
