Lucky 32 Southern Kitchen - Cary Ratings and Reviews
Excellent service! We were seated immediately at a great table, good for intimate conversation. My girlfriend had the Oyster Pan Stew, which was was very satisfying and flavorful, and I had the fried chicken special. Finally, more chicken than fried!
I’ve been to both locations on several occasions. I don’t think a bad meal is possible.
My wife and I went in for the 10 year anniversary of our first date, which was also at Lucky 32. From the greeting at the host station through leaving, our service was exceptional. The food was great and the flavors were on point. I would recommend this place to any one, for any occasion.
Usually am a huge fan but not as much this past visit. Service was great as usual, but the meal was okay the Johnny Cakes were good but I find the biscuits as a side to always be very dry. I personally have a hard time pairing Johnny Cakes with anything on the side menu, still disappointed there is no mac.
My husband and his partner were celebrating 45 years in business and now the transition to the next stages of their/our lives. We wives haven't been married to them as long as they have been together in business. Their partnership is very special. Everything was perfect.
Had a great dinner before taking in the Chinese Lantern Festival. Enjoyed the Voodoo Pig Bread, a little spicy but quite tasty, as a starter. There were too many things to choose but went with the Chicken Pot Pie and Shrimp & Grits which were wonderfully creamy (grits) and had great flavor. Our server, Beverly, was top notch and made our dinner experience a great one!
Lucky 32 is our go to restaurant. Good food, great service and nice ambience all at reasonable prices.
We live 30 miles away and make the drive several times because we know we will not be disappointed. They change their seasonal menu quarterly to allow for fresh local ingredients that are available at the time. The seasonal menu is in addition to their regular menu items that are available year round.
Their entrees come with 1 or 2 sides with roughly 15 options to choose from! We have tried most of the items on the menu and a few of our favorites include the shrimp and grits, creamy grits well balanced with seasoning but not overpowering the shrimp. Any of the ribeyes, good flavor and a nice cut of meat at a fitting price point. They offer a fish of the day along with catfish and salmon on the regular menu. The fish of the day and catfish has always been tasty and cooked spot on. Can not speak for the salmon as none of us eat it.
As for lunch the burgers are good but the pulled pork is exceptional. Make sure you leave room for dessert and consider sharing because they are large. The peanut butter pie is fantastic as well as the season offering of bourbon pecan bars. Want something a little less sweet and decadent the Affogato is a good choice, a simple scoop of vanilla ice cream covered in espresso coffee. Bon appetit!
Great oyster stew and grilled salmon. The staff is so friendly and well trained that it's a pleasure to eat at Lucky32. It is very busy during the Holidays and parking is a problem because of the big groups at lunchtime. The larger parties at lunchtime should try to carpool a little more.
Restaurant gets a pass because it was Thanksgiving Holiday, during which staff and supply chain can get disrupted. There were some pleasant surprises in the food, but overall not as consistent as we've experienced in the past. Our waiter was definitely new--he needed to go to the kitchen to get answers to relatively simple questions (is there meat in this dish?), and he got a drink order wrong.
Not the restaurant's best night. It'll be a little while before we're back
Occasion was Thanksgiving. All,of our family scattered and it was just the two of us. One choice if you wanted turkey for $27. I realize eating out on this day is not going to get your Mothers Turkey, but this tasted like it sat in a steam table all afternoon with a little bit of terrible tasting gravy thrown on top. Even the pie was a flavor I didn’t recognize. With tip, two glasses of wine and meal, our bill was $90. Outrageous amount for an awful meal. Service was also subpar. They brought our entree before we even finished our lukewarm soup. We had to ask for more water. I’ve been to Lucky 32 before and it has never been this awful. I will never eat out again for Thanksgiving and will, probably never go back to Lucky 32.
My plate was full of collard juice which I removed with paper towels. The turkey was processed and was a great disappointment. I though it would be turkey carved from the bone. Too much pumpkin on the menu. Dressing was overcooked, in a ball and very dry.
I have had wonderful meals at Southern and this was not enjoyed.
i will be back but not on a Holiday , too much chance of poor food.
Lucky 32 is aptly named as Southern Kitchen. I've never been disappointed with a southern dish, and this occasion was no different. We visited during the Thanksgiving break, and everything was just about perfect. I've been to this restaurant for business lunches, as well, and have been consistently pleased with the food, value and service.
I always enjoy dining at Lucky 32 regardless if it's in the bar or in the dining room. My parents and I just had Thanksgiving dinner there and it was fantastic. It was nice that we could order their Thanksgiving dinner or off the menu. Our waitress was really charming, attentive and personable. It couldn't have been better. We decided Thanksgiving at Lucky 32 will be a tradition from now on.
Waitress was initially rude to my date . Condescending when he asked if there were any other shrimp meals besides shrimp and grits. When he asked about side orders she stated, “Here they are”,pointing to the menu and then stated, “I can’t remeber all of them”. We almost left at that point but I really wanted to try the shrimp and grits. As the night went on, we realized that she was “flirting” with him. Real brazen and disrespectful to me I must add. We laughed at her as her attempt was minuscule .
If there was a coin of 1/2 of a penny that’s what she would have gotten as a tip.
The shrimp and grits were amazing!
We've eaten at Lucky 32 several times a year for 10 years. The service is consistently good, with friendly, helpful and well trained servers. The food is creative Southern US.
On this occasion we just needed a quick lunch and decided to go to Lucky 32 instead of anywhere like Panera or a bar. The seasonal and local brunch menus left us spoilt for choice. We had chili from the seasonal menu and Locavore special (NC sausages, poached eggs, grits, and biscuits) from the regular menu. Both were excellent. The biscuits were the best I've had.
When we got the bill, we found we'd spent hardly more than if we'd gone to the 'less expensive' chains. All in all, great food for a very reasonable price.
