Luciano's Ratings and Reviews
Luciano's has been a wonderful restaurant since they opened in 1991. I have been there many times for special occasions, Birthday, Anniversary, new job, Couples night out, and also just for great meals with awesome service. I have never once been disappointed ! I had a wonderful dinner Saturday evening celebrating my grandson's new job. I absolutely love their filet !
This was my third visit. Looking forward to bringing other friends and family members. Menu is extensive and eclectic. Food is always prepared well and portions are large. Most folks leave with boxed leftovers. Our server, Jackie, was terrific, knowledgeable and helpful. Well worth the drive up from Providence.
To begin with we were not even acknowledged when we walked into the restaurant. It took a while for the hostess to notice us even though we had a reservation.
Once we got seated we were completely placed at a far tiny table in the corner with no ambience whatsoever. While there were many other tables available. When asked to replace the veggies with a substitute veggie the server said that they got strict orders not to have any substitutes put in on Saturday. We found that to be ludacris since I don’t think that if Tom Brady would be asking to substitute something they would respond the same way. Any request was denied. We had to get things off the menu exactly as is. For a restaurant that big and that busy we were very disappointed that they could not accommodate the people that made them famous and brought them business.
Will most likely not go there again and won’t recommend to anyone.
Reason I gave it three stars was the bread was amazing the salad dressing was delicious as well but the food was extremely mediocre and my salmon was swimming in liquid indicating that it was probably frozen prior.
We never got to eat at Lucianos. We had a 815 reservation but the restaurant was so backed up they did not have a table for us. By 830 we heard three seperate parties ask the hostess about the status of Thier 815 reservations. We decided to check in to see how long we would have to continue to wait and the hostess told us she didn't know. She just restated that they were backed up and she didn't know how long it would be. When pressed further and asked if she could atleast estimate the remaining wait time she said "no. I have no idea". At this point (15 minutes after our reservation) we decided since there were atleast 4 total parties waiting for 815 reservations and we could not even get an estimated wait time, that we did not want to continue to wait and we left. Very disappointing and very poorly handled.
I have been to Luciano's a few times over the past few years and have always had a great experience with great food. There is always a good crowd no matter what night of the week.. My most recent visit was October 25th. The food was awesome! Service was A+. We will return sooner rather than later.
What an awesome experience. Had a great waiter (Cameron), everyone was so friendly, manager was great with us, and food was phenomenal. It’s not close to us, but we’re definitely going to make it a point to go back every now and then. Totally worth the trip. Thanks for an awesome dinner, hope to see you guys soon.
Good service and excellent Italian food. I recommend getting there early and having crackers & cheese with a drink in the lounge. Nice way to relax before dinner.
Cannelloni with Bolognese sauce is my favorite. Fettuccine with clams is another go to. Gnocchi is fabulous as well. Pasta is homemade.
I now have a favorite place to eat just minutes from Foxboro, home of the New England Patriots. Bring your appetite and leave plenty of time so you can linger and enjoy. Meeting the owner and putting a face to the restaurant really made it special. Looking forward to my next meal there.
The food was presented beautifully and tasted as good as it looked. Our waitress asked us at the beginning of the meal if we were there for a special occasion. We told her it was our first time at Luciano’s and we were celebrating our 33rd wedding anniversary. At the end of the meal she brought us a piece of tiramisu with a lit candle. It made the night even more special.
The food is routine pretend-Italian. You can get the same quality food at other less expensive places. My mother was an Italian immigrant, I do a lot of Italian cooking, and I have been to Italy about 15 times and dined in most of the regions of Italy, mostly at trattorie and inexpensive restaurants but also at a few more expensive places and a few private houses. The food at Luciano's is not like the food you get anywhere in Italy, but it is like the food you get at most Italian restaurants in the US. There is too much sauce, masking the taste of what is under it. The main course is served a la current fad: over everything else instead of side by side so that everything tastes the same. The sauces are not interesting, with a few weakly included herbs and thickened with some substance that gives them the consistency of what you get in Chinese-American restaurants (but not in China itself, where I also have been). The garden salad was the usual iceberg lettuce with a few other tidbits thrown in and then drowned in dressing. The contorni were zucchini with carrots and not tasty. Our antipasto was mussels in a red sauce with too much tomato in it, again drowning the taste of the mussels. Even the dipping oil was tasteless and with too much herbs and cheese. The helpings were generous, so much so that we were too full to try the desserts, so I cannot comment on them. The menu had a lot of misspellings, such as the usual "portabella" instead of the correct "portobello" and the amusing "contorti" instead of "contorni." The snails were called escargots (French) instead of lumache (Italian). There even was one entry that inadvertently used the Spanish word for "and" instead of the Italian: "pollo y gamberi" instead of "pollo e gamberi." The ambience is nice but noisy. The waiter was friendly and helpful.
We went to Luciano’s to celebrate our 45th wedding anniversary. Our server Jackie was phenomenal. The food was beyond belief. We have eaten at Luciano’s many times over the years and have never been disappointed but this dinner was the best dinning experience we have had.
We went on a quiet Sunday night for an early dinner and sat at the bar. The food and service were both very good. Unlike a lot of other places, the seating at the bar was very comfortable. The only drawback was the lack of drought beer which we prefer to bottled.
Our favorite special occasion restaurant never disappoints us. Luciano constantly updates the menu and uses only high quality ingredients. No matter what is on the menu I usually get the stuffed veal chop special. The staff is very attentive and friendly. Luciano himself comes to every table to say hello and thank you.
