Luciano's - Sugarloaf Ratings and Reviews
I took my lovely wife there for her BDay. Great food and great service. There is no other restaurant in this neighborhood that can compare. They even had a musician playing the acoustic guitar at 7 pm. All in all, most importantly, my wife was happy about her bday dinner!
Always enjoy Lucciano's. Wait staff is normally good. The new managers at Lucciano's could use some more training. When they broke the cork for my wine bottle, the manager insisted on trying to fix it instead of getting me anther bottle of wine. Two managers spent too much time lurking around the floor.....they have no place to hide. The could use a bit more polishing. The lounge singer was good but TOO FRIGGIN LOUD. I came to talk over dinner not yell. Even though we sat away from music it was not escapable. .... Lounge singer should be background not compete with the food as the main attraction.
Lucianos is such a hidden gem in duluth. It's such an amazing restaurant with authentic Italian dishes and great daily specials. We want for dinner early Sunday and the crowd started picking up around 7-7:30. They had an amazing pasta special for the week where they would cook it table side and put it inside a large cheese wheel for more flavor. it was such a unique and authentic experience. they offer such a variety on their menu it was so hard to choose!
My husband, mother, and I went to celebrate a promotion and we’ve been here many times, but Steven made our experience all the better this time. He’s very attentive, professional, and very well mannered (this is often hard to come across nowadays.) Food and ambiance was great as usual. Service was excellent enough to want to share !
This was not our first visit to Luciano's, so any comments only apply to this visit. As usual, the food was very good. The only problem was how it was described in the menu & what you actually received at the table. First, either the chef failed geometry or doesn't understand what a "wedge" is. I like a wedge salad because of the firmness of the iceburg lettuce. What I got was a "nest", in a bowl, filled with a loosely packed half of a small head of lettuce. It had chopped tomatoes & such in it and drowned in blue cheese dressing. Not expected, but not what I really wanted. Second, the vegetable was listed as Baked Potato Puree. What I got was "smashed" potatoes. It was very lumpy & not at all like any puree I have eaten. I enjoyed it, but when you describe a dish, it should be accurate. This is not "Harry's Diner", but a fairly high-class restaurant, so calling a dish by a fancy name does not elevate the dish and may surely disappoint your patrons. Third, the 16 oz. Duroc pork chop was a bit dry & tough around the edges. It could have been butchered better and basted more to keep from drying out such a large chunk of meat.
The service was excellent & they did give us a choice of free dessert for our anniversary. I only comment on the things above to make sure the restaurant keeps its standards high and not fade into oblivion like so many restaurants in Atlanta area. Luciano's, all in all, is a fine place to eat.
I've been going to this location for years, most often for lunch. I've always enjoyed their food and I highly recommend the carbonara. The disappointing part of our latest evening out is the quality of the meat has gone down from what we've experienced in the past. I'm sure many wouldn't think to get the steak at a great Italian restaurant but if it's on the menu then I knew it would be as good as my other favorite dishes. So if you want to have a good meal (and often a great meal) stick with the traditional items.
We have dined at Luciano's several times over the past few years. Always delicious food and good service. Friday nights there is live music, which was a perfect addition to our date last night.
Highly recommend the carpaccio appetizer and really can't go wrong with any of the entrees. Sea bass is one of my favorites. They also have an excellent wine list.
The interior is inviting, and would never guess we were dining in a strip mall from the inside.
My friends and I got together to celebrate a friend's birthday. There were two vegetarians in our party. The food was excellent. The pasta was fresh made. I had the mushroom ravioli in alfredo sauce and it was wonderful. Tender pasta and a really generous amount of mushroom filling. Our party of five are all in food service and not easily impressed. Loved the live entertainment. The only complaint would be the noise level. It made conversation difficult. We were there for dinner and I will go back and check out the lunch there.
