Lucia Ristorante Ratings and Reviews
We arrived for our reservation and were seated immediately. Our dinners were excellent... the service, not so much... although I won't say it was poor or the waiter did anything in particular wrong, however, you rarely saw him.... it was a busy Friday night but not packed.. We had to ask for grated cheese three times.... drinks ( other than water ) were not offered again... we definitely would have had another wine with diner. Overall, the food was excellent, the service was less than average but, we would try it again.... maybe not on weekend.
We went to Lucia as a group of 8 to celebrate a birthday. The service was slow and poor and the food was "alright at most"/poor in comparison to any other of the many the North End italian restaurants we have been to. Would definitely not recommend in general.
Food was very good. Only complaints for our group of 8 was very crowded tables in lower level. We were stuck in a corner table and it was a bit too tight. All meals were great except for the chicken parm. It was pounded very very thin (which is generally a good thing) but it was over cooked and had too much breading. Could not taste chicken at all and was dried out. Sauce & cheese were good though so possibly just bad luck. All the other meals were very good.
My friends and I went for dinner for a college reunion. The food was descent, but some of the sauces were kind of bland. Our waitor was nice but clearly drunk, which we felt was inappropriate for a nice restaurant, but he did manage to get all our food correct without writing it down. Overall, the food was fine, the service was fine, but I wouldn't go back.
Ristorante Lucia was a wonderful experience. First off, unlike many restaurants on Hanover street, it wasn't super noisy and jammed with tables. The atmosphere was quiet and there was plenty of room between tables so that you didn't overhear conversations from other tables. The food was excellent. The Amazzafame is a must-try! Terrificly spicy with plenty of veggies and sausage in a delicous white wine sauce. We also enjoyed the more delicate flavor of the Scaloppine Abruzzese. The wine list has quite a good variety of types of wine and price levels. We will definitely visit again on our next trip to Boston.
Delicious food! Obviously authentic Italian cuisine, and our server was attentive and cared about our comfort and thoughts, even taking the time to learn our names and a little bit about where we were from. Only complaint is that we didn't have bigger stomachs to finish our meals - but that meant we could take home the leftovers for another night! Would recommend to anyone who loves Italian food.
We went for an early dinner before a hockey game so the restaurant was not terribly busy. We had a wonderful meal!! We ordered the eggplant parm, fettucine alfredo w/ chicken, veal saltimbocca and (the best) stuffed veal chop. The portions were very large which made for great leftovers. They had a very nice wine list and made a nice manhattan. The only slight disappointment was that we ordered a shrimp scampi appetizers to share that never appeared. The waiter felt terrible and of course, we were not charged just disappointed not to try it!! I will defintely return to this restaurant and recommend to friends!
Food was very good. That was not the reason why I only gave it a two star. The reason was from the moment we arrived we felt extremely rushed. We were not able to relax and enjoy the experience due to the feeling of being hurried and pushed out of the restaurant. I made 6:00 pm reservations, which we were on time for. This was a birthday dinner for my daughter who attends college in Boston.
We were not impressed. Although the food was good, the atmospere and service masked that. It was ridiculously loud. The service was so slow. We had to call our server over to remind him about our orders. He was apologetic and gracious, but it was uncalled for, given the restaurant had filtered out by this time.
Food lacked a little in flavor, especially considering the prices paid. Service was fine, not exceptional, but also not horrible. The hostess skipped over our reservation and if I hadn't checked back in with her after our initial check in (20 minutes after our reservation), we would have had a much longer wait to be seated. I know it was an exceptionally busy night in the North End, but it reduced my chances of returning to dine here considerably. Especially when you consider how many other Italian restaurants serving the same food are located within steps of Lucia.
Our meals were both excellent. The hostesses, waiter and serving assistants were all very pleasant and friendly. Unfortunately, the waiter never checked back once our meals were brought out and we needed to ask for him in order get a couple more drinks. When we finished he never offered us a desert menu or coffees, we had to ask for that as well. I would still recommend eating here though because the food was worth it.
We had an amazing time! I’m from Iowa and unfortunately Iowa doesn’t have many fine dining/upclass restaurants period. My sister and I were in Boston for vacation and was told any place on the north end is great Italian food. We weren’t disappointed! My sisters order was wrong the first time but the chef personally came out to bring her the right one and apologized. The look of the restaurant is beautiful. The ceiling is unique and simple decorating makes the small place look larger. I would go again in a heartbeat!!!
Lucia was GREAT!!! We had a group of 9 of us getting together over Parents weekend, and we had a perfect night! Everything....what a great setting, service was AWESOME, and the food was fantastic. Frank and his team run a tip-top operation. I was so impressed! Thank you to the whole Lucia team! Definitely coming back here!
Not a great experience. We had our reservation pushed back 45 minutes due to overbooking on Saturday Sept 30. Hadn't received a wine menu for about 25 minutes after asking three times. Asked us to move tables across the restaurant after we received apps. Went to order dessert, was told that they ran out of what we requested (which was fine) and we asked to order two decaf coffees, the waitress told us they poured the wrong coffee for us and left it at that. No follow up that they will be pouring our new coffee but just that they poured the wrong one
Understandably we were going to leave a very nice tip for our waitress as it was not the staff's fault for the overbooking and they were trying to handle it the best the could, but the hostess was rude when she asked us to move and the waitress almost wanted us just out of there after she told us they made the wrong coffee (not even that they would getting us the right one).
We will not be back.
We didn't have a great experience here, we sat upstairs where the ceiling is very low so it was very loud. Our waiter also rushed us when we sat down, asking for our appetizer order almost immediately. Then the busser asked my uncle if he was done about 5 minutes after we received our entree. The food was very average - not bad but not memorable. Pasta was a little overcooked and it tasted like they didn't salt the pasta water.
Based on the reviews were so looking forward to another excellent dining experience in the North End but were very disappointed. We had a 6pm reservation and when we arrived the place was rather empty but it took 15 minutes for any service. While the food was very good, the service was completely lacking. One of our meals did not appear and we had to ask a bus boy to check on it. Our waiter never appeared and it took another 15 minutes for the shrimp dish to arrive. By that time all of our meals were not warm. No apologies from the staff. There are so many excellent restaurants in the North End and we will never return here.
It was so delicious and authentic. Fred who owns or manages the restaurant came around and checked on our table to make sure we were enjoying everything and he was so friendly. Our server had great advice and the food did not disappoint. It was so fresh, so flavorful, and so authentic.
10/10 would go again.
This was a birthday celebration for a party of five with an eight o'clock Saturday night reservation. We ordered our appetizers they came very quickly and we all enjoyed them.
The waiter took our orders for dinner after we were done with our appetizers. I ordered the veal and was told they ran out of that dish so I ordered something else. Four of the dinners came and they never brought my wife's dinner. We were done eating and had to tell the waiter that her food never arrived. I would not go to this restaurant again the bill was over $200 and my wife never got her dinner!
the food was delicious and authentic Italian. Was so please they were able to seat us when we were late for our reservation. The staff were friendly and attentive to our needs. So happy we made it and was able to eat @ Lucia's before going to a concert at TD Garden. Thanks OnTable
The food was absolutely fantastic! Every plate was licked clean. The portions were generous and the food was amazingly fresh. Our server was knowledgeable, friendly and had great recommendations. Celebrated a birthday; the dessert was equally delicious and the whole restaurant was singing. Can't wait to go back!
