It is a very fun place - very lively, young and exciting.
Fun place. Decent food. Slow service. I had to flag the wait staff 3-4 times to get service, check, place the order, etc.
They also got an order wrong, but were very accommodating in fixing it quickly. It was the fastest they moved the whole time.
Only thing I didnt like is that it was my bday and they put me at a small table right next to the bathroom steps..everyone including servers were always going right by my table..I did make a reservation so I clearly was out for something important..
The quac was flavorless, my husbands steak looked like it was still beating it was so raw and he ordered it medium. I got 5 shrimp with my shrimp fajitas. Our waitress was rarely around and we had a party of six to serve. It was not a good experience overall and I do not recommend this restaurant anyone.
Love the vibe!
George was fantastic! We had a great time.
The food was fine- not great, but fine. Our server was really trying to be on top of things, but she clearly had way too many tables and was running around so much that I don’t begrudge her any wait time. This place is way too loud. If you are early 20’s and you want a super loud fun spot, this may be it- if you’re late 30’s like me and just want a nice meal with a few margaritas, there are better places.
So loud we couldn’t hear each other. Food was enjoyable, but cocktails were horrible. We’ve enjoyed it there before, but we sat outside. We probably won’t go again if we aren’t guaranteed outside seating.
Awesome! There were some problems with the bill but it was our fault and they were super nice about it!
Went for my girls birthday! Food and tequila was awesome. We will definitely be going back! Brianna, our waitress was INCREDIBLE! Keep up the good work guys!
The food was really good and the staff were on point. The noise level was deafening though and it was hard to really enjoy the whole experience.
Great food and friendly, knowledgeable service staff. Speedy service in a busy restaurant. Get the empanadas and add bacon to the guac. Yum.
Good place to grab a few drinks and mexican food with friends and family. Food was Ok, Service not so good
First time at Lucha Cartels for business lunch. Decor was really cool. Def enjoyed the vibe. The server was really nice. I had fish tacos in soft corn tortilla shells which were decent. Three to a plate and rather small. I think the portion sizes overall are a little small and would probably order another appetizer but otherwise it was good. There was hardly anyone else there by 1230 but that was nice. Looks like they have a little patio for outdoor seating once the weather warms up. I would go back again and try the beers.
Definitely a college hangout. The food was excellent, but full of drunken college kids and too loud to have a conversation without shouting. Next time I'll get takeout.
Excellent food. Servers great and stay on top of things. A bit too loud, but I'll definitely go back.
Quality of the food is about average here. The Margaritas, however, we’re great! This place doesn’t skimp out on the tequila! Guacamole was good, however the chips were a little too hard/crispy for our liking. Quesadillas were good, but nothing to write home about. I would come back to this place because of the ambiance and drinks, but don’t expect to leave here with a full stomach as the portions are on the small side.
We eat at Lucha Cartel, and enjoy the very reasonable Happy Hour menu, nearly every time we have an event to attend downtown. The service is extremely attentive, the food is really good, nice selection of draft beers, tasty margaritas. Many of the times we have been there, the restaurant seemed only about half filled, and noise was not a problem. This week, the place was packed, which lent a rather festive and exciting atmosphere, but it did raise the noise level to make conversation difficult. By the way, even though we were early, and the place was crowded, we were seated immediately. The menu doesn't seem to change very much, and it would be fun to see a new item or two every once in a while.
Awesome food and great atmosphere! The waitstaff was very attentive and it's in a great location.
Have eaten here a bunch of times and it is always fresh and delicious, empanadas, tacos, quesos, margaritas, salads etc are all excellent. Service is always attentive and nice with knowledgeable staff. The decor is fun with wrestler masks and irreverent last supper scene. One issue is the noise level is tremendous and makes it extremely difficult to have any conversation even with the person sitting next to you so we choose to go to other places if we want to chat, which we often do when dining out,
awesome! like always
The guac with roasted corn was amazing! Food was pretty good in general. As were the drunks. The service wasn’t horribly slow, but it did take a little too long to get some extra chips so we could finish the guac and salsa. A little noisy but we were a party of 6 so we may have helped contribute to that. ;) It was fun though and servers were very polite.
We had a great meal at Lucha Cartel! The margaritas, chips and guac, and tacos were fantastic. We did have an issue with the wait staff / management about the price of the various sizes of margarita pitchers, which is why I couldn't give their service 5 stars. There was discrepancy between what was listed on the menu and what the waitress explained - the menu listed a glass, a pitcher, and a large margarita glass, whereas the waitress described a glass, a half-pitcher, and a full pitcher. We thought we were paying for the pitcher, the 2nd size, but in fact, we were paying for the large margarita glass, though the drink was brought to us in a pitcher. When we mentioned this when we received our bill, the waitress' response was, "Well you drank the whole thing..." Ultimately, after much debate with the waitress and the manager, we were able to have the $20 removed from our check. The waitress was very snappy with us the rest of the night, when in reality, it would have been much easier just to take the $20 off of our check, apologize, and move on. I would definitely recommend this restaurant, just make sure you clarify your order so you don't run into the same issue that we did.
The food was ok. I didn't know they teach salsa lessons. So it just seem to ruin my dinner experience with my girlfriends. It's not a big restaurant so it was just too much going on at once. Unfortunately we won't be returning for dinner.
Margaritas and ceviche were excellent! Chicken in tacos & fajitas toooooooooo salty. Person in our group lives the wahoo fish tacos. All in all good, except fir the chicken.
The service here is outstanding! Every time we have visited, the wait staff is friendly, offers ideas and just plain fun! Not our first visit and certainly not our last!
My wife enjoyed the evening
I love lucha cartel. The prices are great, the food is great (guac is phenomenal), the drinks are amazing (pineapple jalapeno margarita is where it's at)! I've been here twice and I plan to keep coming back :)
Food was excellent, service was fairly slower. Had reservation, came early, got seated on time.
The best chicken quesadilla in Philly!
Had a great experience at Lucha — awesome drink and food menu. The service was warm but my only compliant is I had a later reservation post-movie and we were out at a high-top table right by the dance floor and kitchen. As a result, I felt in the way as the staff was clearing and moving the other high tops around us and the dj started. Everyone was polite about it, but Is there a way to ensure all diners are on the raised platform or along the side banquettes to ensure a more pleasant experience is had by all? This was the only thing that somewhat soured an otherwise pleasurable dining experience.
Food was very good server was very nice and attentive but table was small and wobbly almost lost our meal when trying to cut our food but overall a good meal
I have been here a number of times. But the last visit here, I wasn't even served. After a 15 wait at a wobbly table in a dark corner, I left without the waiter ever coming back. I was so disappointed. I'm not sure I'll be going back.
Great food, great beer, great service. Come here before a movie and was pleasantly surprised. I would definitely return!
Food is so good- love the energy and the servers are always fun and attentive. Def my favorite Mexican place in the city
Great staff (Kylie was amazing) and the best shrimp empanada ever!
The food was expensive for the portion size, I found bones in my enchiladas, the noise was almost unbearable. Otherwise, the food was tasty and the service was better than average.
Always freshly made food and margaritas. It is a personal go to spot in Philly.
Great!!!! Everything is awesome
