Ok food but ear-drum destroying noisy. They could fix that with a lot of acoustic panels.
I love this place our waiter Carlos was amazing make sure you ask for him if you visit, which I recommend that you do I will definitely come back .
Really liked it! Our server, Maggie was amazing and attentive even when she was really busy. Food took a while but it was worth the wait. Very tasty, full of flavors and priced right. The atmosphere was amazing: it features Salsa and Bachata nights as well as a club with a DJ after 9pm. It has a Mexican Dia De Los Muertos ambiance and you can still carry a conversation in spite of the music. High recommend their chicken empanadas and chicken enchiladas. Going back!
Loud, but I should have expected that from a Tex mex during happy hour on Friday. The tacos were dry, kinda bland. The guacamole was pretty bland too. Margaritas were watered down. No real redeeming features except for the nice waiter.
Service was great there
Amazing little find down in Old City. Good food, friendly staff, delicious Margaritas.
Great Valentine's Day dinner.
This place will be THE place to go for
"Dia de Muertos" Enjoy
Food was good. Noise level was kind of high but that may have been due to the restaurant itself being small. Bill wasn’t bad either
Our waiter Carlos was absolutely amazing!! The food was fabulous and the ambiance was fantastic. The cheese quesadillas and nachos were delicious and the margaritas were great. We had both mango and strawberry! Highly recommend!
Food was dry. I wouldn’t recommend. Went for a casual Valentine’s Day dinner and it wasn’t worth it. We ordered takeout after we left
Definitely will return
Food was extremely bland, no spices whatsoever. We ordered drinks, those also were not good, especially for the price. It is VERY loud inside, hard to have a conversation, and the restaurant was only half empty. I also must mention that they are not ADA compliant, in the 1.5 hours we were there, I could not use the restroom because it is down a flight of stairs. The positive of the evening was our server, she was very pleasant and tried to make our evening a good one.
We had an early dinner here on Saturday. It was an average experience. Service was not great (they were not busy so no excuse ) and the food and drinks were just ok. Definitely a neat atmosphere but probably won’t go back.
Fun and noisy with a very young vibe. The food is fresh and interesting and definitely a cut way above many mexican restaurants in terms of preparation, variety and creativity. Recommended.
Love this restaurant. Great drinks and food. Great service too! Only complaint... I’ve made a reservation 2xs now with high top seating requested and I have had low seats, this isn’t a deal breaker but attention to details do matter.
This was to celebrate my daughters birthday and we enjoyed all of the food. Guacamole, chicken enchiladas, shrimp with coconut glaze were fabulous. My cousin had the whole Branzino which was So full of bones that he couldn’t really enjoy it. It did say “whole” so he should have known but we figured maybe some of the bones would have been removed Well next time he won’t order that!! Otherwise margaritas and service were very good!!
I highly recommend Lucha Cartel. Very authentic too
It was loud, and the table I was sitting at felt like a community table with the other two on my left and right. Not ideal for a date
Good good, great prices for happy hour.
Dance competition lots of fun
This was a second visit because the first experience was great. Solely disappointed in the food and unenthusiastic service. My group of 6 votes not to come back
Atmosphere was great! Fun vibe and music. Food and drinks were both good. Will definitely return!
Great food. Great drinks
Yes! Delicious! Not your typical Mexican place. Fantastic food and drinks.
Started out on the front porch but it began to rain so we were moved inside. Staff was very nice about it. Noise level inside was somewhat loud but got louder as we stayed. By the end of our dinner I was hearing maybe half of what our friends were saying - not good. Food was good though - guacamole and chips, margarita, and fish tacos were all very tasty.
The food and atmosphere are amazing. My server was attentive and friendly. I love this spot!
Great food, fun ambience, always considerate service. Nice location in Old City. Can't miss as a date spot. I really recommend the tacos as they are so yummy and I always like trying different ones.
The pork and chorizo tacos and chicken empanadas were amazing! The margaritas are delicious too!
Fantastic as always! Happy Hour is the best deal in the city!
Food was great, atmosphere was amazing.
Just the waitresses were kind of disorganized.
a table of 6 people were incredibly loud and it made it difficult to enjoy our dinner. I was shocked that they continued to be served alcohol.
Great salsa class, yummy food!
Great service. Food was very good. With exception of mole chicken. It seems like they benched the chicken breast and then put it in grill for grill marks. It had a funny texture
Tacos were great
We have had fantastic experiences at this Philly gem. I still recommend it to all of my friends, family and colleagues. However, when there recently for a special occasion (birthday dinner) things were off. First and foremost, the server was borderline unfriendly and minimally uninterested in the whole experience. I say experience because dining out is really like entertainment with food to some extent. From start to finish the server was not attentive and fairly non-existent. And, they were not busy at this time. Her lack of presence would have made more sense if the place was busy. Next, the server completely botched the "surprise" of dessert for the birthday celebrant. And by botched, I mean she really screwed up and continued to screw up the surprise. And finally, the sweet potato tacos were mediocre. In the past they have been fantastic and well done. On this date, not so much. In general we are easy going customers, but the birthday dessert mistake was the tipping point. On my way out I sought out the manager to give feedback. NOTE: I did not ask for any special favors on our bill but did only provide a 10% tip (when I typically tip 20% +).
Here is to hoping our next experience will be better. We have gone many times and had fantastic service and always great food. Plus, the price is right!
Always the best from the drinks to chips and meals! Love it! Our waiter was awesome quick and sooooooo cute!
The food wasn’t great and normally my boyfriend and l I love it there!
Food and drink was delicious. Server was okay... but overall the staff was solid. Would go back.
The dinner menu has much better selection but nonetheless, we enjoyed our meal and the service.
This is one of my favorite places in Old City. Food quality, quantity and flavor is always perfect. Drinks are the best. I would recommend Lucha Cartel to anyone looking for some fun and great food.
The Shrimp mezcal dish was very good!
It was very loud. I was at the end of the table and could not hear my friends talking, but food and service was good.
Great dance class and atmosphere. The instructor had great energy and demonstrated well. Would recommend to a friend
