Luce Ristorante E Enoteca
My goal for this restaurant to create a warm environment for all guests that is typical of a true Italian heritage.
Our menu consists of many Buonincontri family recipes and recipes brought back from travel to Italy.
Fresh fish, meats and produce expound throughout Luce's offerings and a focus on the finest ingredients are what make Luce special.
House made Gnocchi, Italian rice balls and homemade Mozzarella are just a few examples our passion for the finest Italian food. The word Enoteca means wine library. The walls of the entire restaurant are covered with wine bottles as you would expect books to cover the walls of a library. Wine is a very important part of an experience at Luce, with over 125 choices from our wine list available to you.
Dinner: Monday - Saturday: 4:30pm - 10:00pm
Great food, decent service. Will definitely return.
Another great time at Luce with Silvia. Always recommended for good Italian food.
Everything was great - except for the music. Why doesn't an Italian restaurant have some Italian music playing? It would add much to the ambience. The rather loud pop selections detracted from what was a very lovely meal.
Excellent meal and service. Joe even made a special, off the menu, meal for my wife for her birthday. And then insisted on comping two desserts. We felt like old friends - and it was our first ever visit. Highly highly recommended.
This was our first time to dine at Luce and we certainly plan to return soon! We were greeted promptly by our server, Chris, who explained specials of the day, and guided us through the menu since this was our first visit. Chris explained more about the soups and salads upon our inquiry, and made very good recommendations for our meal, including our entrees. My wife had the Pollo Carciofi which was a balanced blend of chicken, artichokes, risotto and sauce; I had the Braciola alla Napoletana which was savory with a wonderful blend of meat, nuts, and raisins. The portions were abundant leading us to package half our entrees to enjoy later so we could enjoy dessert. For dessert we chose the Torta di Ricotta which was delicious; a cheesecake full of flavor without being too rich or filling.
We definitely want to return!
Wine was on sale from $65 to $40, but in reality it was only a $14 retail bottle - not a good deal
The arugula salad was wilted and not fresh tasting
The seafood pasta dish was heavy on the tomato sauce and lacking on the white wine and flavor
The halibut was cooked well, but the dish lacked flavor, very bland
Great food and great service. I will definitely be back
Excellent food and service. Always a great experience. Thanks!
Luce consistently serves great typical Italian food as well as outstanding sea food. Best Halibut in town bar none. The service is professional and friendly with good pace.
Server was excellent! Shinee
Great staff and food!
Lice is a great happy hour spot. They offer a large amount of snack options
There are not many good Italian spots in SA or Austin in general but Luces is top notch. Great service, food and convenient location albeit a little hidden in the complex! Great restaurant! I highly recommend it to all!!!
This was a business lunch, it was great because we were able to have a conversation. I am not sure I would go there for an “everyday” lunch, as it’s a bit pricey.
Superb food and service with a comfortable, soothing environment.
Restaurant week menu was very minimal, but still provided tasty options. Caesar salad was average (maybe a touch heavy on the dressing), parmesan crispy tuile was perfect. Sea bass was tasty and cooked nicely. Risotta was a touch more creamy than expected...very loose. Australian lamb had nice flavor but was undercooked (and I eat lamb, beef, & the like medium rare) - it was unpleasantly underdone. The Gorgonzola gnocchi was average, but needed salt. The chocolate lava torta was tasty, except for the burnt edges and top (which was the bottom of the foil pans it was baked in). It had a nice crispiness to the outer cake, and a beautiful "lava" texture and flavor. It was a nice dinner, but I felt it was a bit pricey for the quality (because nothing I had stood out as amazing).
Everything was just okay nothing great.
Excellent spot for a couples dinner or a group. We had about 8 of us and our server was very nice and spoke to everyone about options , etc.
The food quality was excellent and options diverse for a business meal. Thank you!
Great overall service especially when handling 4 kids. Brought out their meals first and kept the drinks coming. Food was spot on except just a bit salty all around for my taste. Everyone else loved what they ordered from salmon to seabass. Definitely will return.
We arrived at our reservation time on a Thursday night. We sat for over 15 min. with no one coming to our table. Our waiter passed us a few times without acknowledging us...then Justin saw us and hurried over to greet us and when we expressed our displeasure said he would take care of us. He was a great server, helped us with a wine and was very attentive. If he hadn't come to our table we would have left. Food was very goodl
I was looking for a restaurant close to the car dealership my sister in law was visiting to look at a car late afternoon so we could meet nearby for dinner. I did a map search and we were pleasantly surprised. My brother in law and another friend with us said they had eaten here before (10 or so years ago) and were not happy with the restaurant then. However they both agreed that everything was substantially better and would be worthwhile coming to visit and have dinner again. The variety of food dishes was good, the food excellent and the wine was decent also. So I would recommend anyone who likes Italian food should make the time to come here for dinner.
Had the seafood pasta, gluten free ravioli and seafood salad. Seafood was previously frozen and over cooked. The seafood pasta was buried in an overly spicy tomato sauce that tasted like straight from a can. The Frutti Di Mare salad had no taste, thank god it came with a lemon. The ravioli came in a thin watery white wine sauce.
We were visiting from out of town and picked this restaurant based on good reviews and menu selection. At first restaurant the place looked very promising. Unfortunately the food was nothing but disappointing.
Wine was good a reasonably priced.
Having the owner, Joe B on site and overseeing the restaurant operations makes a difference. He is a wonderful host. And his best server is Sylvia, is a must for special occasions. She makes every visit special for us.
As I have said so often, this is my favorite restaurant for get-together with friends for lunch, for celebrations like birthdays, for just conversation. Also for meeting with a colleague for professional conversations around lunch.
Staff is always friendly & accommodating; ambience is inviting. Food is good consistently.
The food and the staff at Luce never disappoint. Quiet enough for conversation. Wonderful atmosphere. Extensive wine list.
We thoroughly enjoyed our first visit to Luce. The hostess was delightful and seated us at a wonderful table, as requested. Our server, Jessica, was very attentive, friendly and efficient. The ambiance was casual and inviting. A truly 5 Star dinning experience in Hubeler Oaks!
Our absolute “go-to” for great Italian food in a relaxed environment.
Excellent. 1st class
Service was outstanding. Our server was very attentive at the right time. He explained the special and took care of a special request. The food was delicious. I appreciated that a caprese salad was one of the salad options. We will be returning.
Another memorable birthday Celebration with a dear friend. This restaurant is my "go-to" place in the area for birthdays with friends and for business lunches.
Had reservations for 6:30 and we were seating promptly. The waitress was in a hurry for our order. We ordered a bottle of wine and she eventually came back and said they were out so we ordered a different one. We placed our order and got our salads. The Parmesan crisps were tough, not crisp. No bread. We eventually had to get another waitress to bring us bread. It came with our main course. The food was cold and the sauce looked like milk it was so thin. The bread was not hot either. Our waitress did manage to bring the bill but we had to get another waitress to take my credit card. Big, big disappointment.
Main entree was fantastic! Mescaline Salad was not great and we ate outside, so noise level was fine. Have been there before and is not usually that crowded or noisy. Waiter was a bit slow, but it was unusually crowded. Great value on wine. Enjoyed our meal.
We had a wonderful time celebrating a Birthday. I had talked my friends into going to Luce & wanted the night to be 'special' and indeed it was so. The hostess, Susan, was great & very helpful. The waitperson was attentive, not intrusive, very accommodating to special requests & to answering questions. Just everything was wonderful. Guest sent great "thank you" notes to me today.
We enjoyed everything. The meatballs were fantastic!
Service very helpful, but a little rushed. Got salads before we finished appetizers. Veal Piccata overly salty, but veal (and other food) of good quality. Portions generous. Cheesecake very nice.
Price is very high! My daughters ordered Spaghetti and it tasted horrible!!
First time at Luce. Restaurant was noisy. Need better sound barrier above in ceiling. We were seated right away with a reservation by the open kitchen area. We were lucky, we got the new waitress. Ha. We asked about wine Wednesday special. Didn’t know much about wine so we chose a bottle on the list. Apparently All the wine bottles were not half price as advertised. Asked for bottle. We placed our order as well. Calamari appetizer, chicken parm and my wife asked if they had chicken Alfredo, not listed on menu. She had to go find another waitress and ask. The other person came and she said yes, they can make as they make all food fresh. Ok. 20 minutes, still no wine. Finally she comes by with wine. Said, sorry bartender was very busy. I hate excuses or blame. Did not see her again. Still no calamari. 40 minutes, we se that she is waiting on table on the other side of the restaurant , Outside tables on the patio. No wonder we don’t see her. She is walking back to kitchen looks our way, I raise my hand to come here, rudely now. She approaches and says, ummm did you get the calamari? NO!!! She goes back to kitchen and starts looking around. Still 45 minutes or so, nothing. 5 minutes later, another server comes with our entrees. We laugh and say, no way. Server looks puzzled. We never got our calamari appetizer. She looks around and starts to walk off and we tell her, just cancel the calamari. Unbelievable. This is apparently the type of service this restaurant has, we don’t know, only our first experience to judge. The waitress did come by and apologize. Said the kitchen was backed up. Bar was backed up. Funny, table next to us ordered martinis and came in 5 minutes. She came by mid way thru meal. Could tell we were upset. Over an hour to get food. Never got appetizer. She finally came by and apologized again and said if we wanted dessert on the house for the error. We accepted. Her gratuity went from 20 to 15%. She’s lucky she redeemed herself in the end.
I have been there with friends & for business purposes many times. Experience has always been a good one.
The wait staff is typically very friendly; kitchen does accommodate special requests. Our waiter on this visit, Justin Burnett, was particularly attentive.
I recommend the restaurant repeatedly to friends.
Food was great and service was good. Noise level was a little loud.
