Luce Ristorante E Enoteca
My goal for this restaurant to create a warm environment for all guests that is typical of a true Italian heritage.
Our menu consists of many Buonincontri family recipes and recipes brought back from travel to Italy.
Fresh fish, meats and produce expound throughout Luce's offerings and a focus on the finest ingredients are what make Luce special.
House made Gnocchi, Italian rice balls and homemade Mozzarella are just a few examples our passion for the finest Italian food. The word Enoteca means wine library. The walls of the entire restaurant are covered with wine bottles as you would expect books to cover the walls of a library. Wine is a very important part of an experience at Luce, with over 125 choices from our wine list available to you.
Dinner: Monday - Saturday: 4:30pm - 10:00pm
Service was outstanding. Our server was very attentive at the right time. He explained the special and took care of a special request. The food was delicious. I appreciated that a caprese salad was one of the salad options. We will be returning.
Another memorable birthday Celebration with a dear friend. This restaurant is my "go-to" place in the area for birthdays with friends and for business lunches.
Had reservations for 6:30 and we were seating promptly. The waitress was in a hurry for our order. We ordered a bottle of wine and she eventually came back and said they were out so we ordered a different one. We placed our order and got our salads. The Parmesan crisps were tough, not crisp. No bread. We eventually had to get another waitress to bring us bread. It came with our main course. The food was cold and the sauce looked like milk it was so thin. The bread was not hot either. Our waitress did manage to bring the bill but we had to get another waitress to take my credit card. Big, big disappointment.
Main entree was fantastic! Mescaline Salad was not great and we ate outside, so noise level was fine. Have been there before and is not usually that crowded or noisy. Waiter was a bit slow, but it was unusually crowded. Great value on wine. Enjoyed our meal.
We had a wonderful time celebrating a Birthday. I had talked my friends into going to Luce & wanted the night to be 'special' and indeed it was so. The hostess, Susan, was great & very helpful. The waitperson was attentive, not intrusive, very accommodating to special requests & to answering questions. Just everything was wonderful. Guest sent great "thank you" notes to me today.
We enjoyed everything. The meatballs were fantastic!
Service very helpful, but a little rushed. Got salads before we finished appetizers. Veal Piccata overly salty, but veal (and other food) of good quality. Portions generous. Cheesecake very nice.
Price is very high! My daughters ordered Spaghetti and it tasted horrible!!
First time at Luce. Restaurant was noisy. Need better sound barrier above in ceiling. We were seated right away with a reservation by the open kitchen area. We were lucky, we got the new waitress. Ha. We asked about wine Wednesday special. Didn’t know much about wine so we chose a bottle on the list. Apparently All the wine bottles were not half price as advertised. Asked for bottle. We placed our order as well. Calamari appetizer, chicken parm and my wife asked if they had chicken Alfredo, not listed on menu. She had to go find another waitress and ask. The other person came and she said yes, they can make as they make all food fresh. Ok. 20 minutes, still no wine. Finally she comes by with wine. Said, sorry bartender was very busy. I hate excuses or blame. Did not see her again. Still no calamari. 40 minutes, we se that she is waiting on table on the other side of the restaurant , Outside tables on the patio. No wonder we don’t see her. She is walking back to kitchen looks our way, I raise my hand to come here, rudely now. She approaches and says, ummm did you get the calamari? NO!!! She goes back to kitchen and starts looking around. Still 45 minutes or so, nothing. 5 minutes later, another server comes with our entrees. We laugh and say, no way. Server looks puzzled. We never got our calamari appetizer. She looks around and starts to walk off and we tell her, just cancel the calamari. Unbelievable. This is apparently the type of service this restaurant has, we don’t know, only our first experience to judge. The waitress did come by and apologize. Said the kitchen was backed up. Bar was backed up. Funny, table next to us ordered martinis and came in 5 minutes. She came by mid way thru meal. Could tell we were upset. Over an hour to get food. Never got appetizer. She finally came by and apologized again and said if we wanted dessert on the house for the error. We accepted. Her gratuity went from 20 to 15%. She’s lucky she redeemed herself in the end.
I have been there with friends & for business purposes many times. Experience has always been a good one.
The wait staff is typically very friendly; kitchen does accommodate special requests. Our waiter on this visit, Justin Burnett, was particularly attentive.
I recommend the restaurant repeatedly to friends.
Food was great and service was good. Noise level was a little loud.
We have eaten here many times, and Luce never disappoints. Check out the regular specials, such as 50% off wine on Wednesdays, great happy hour pricing for both food and drinks.
This is our second time going. Went about 7-8 months ago. Both time was good was amazing. I had the halibut with asparagus risottI. My husband had the chicken Marsala. His favorite dish that he will try anywhere. First attempt it came out and I took a bite and knew something was wrong but my husband don’t like to say anything so he took a few bites. But for the price of the plate for them to use a chicken thigh for Marsala I knew that wasn’t right. Sure enough it should have been a chicken breast after I bring it the there attention they apologized and remade his dinner. Only reason I didn’t give a five star was because of husbands plate. I absolutely love this place and will be back
as usual the food and the service were exceptional. we had a party of 8 and the service never flagged. anything with the lemon sauce is worth trying
I had the large tubular pasta with shrimp. It had a good flavor but was drowning in olive oil. My husband had the meatloaf which he enjoyed very much.
It was Mother's Day and the food was fantastic for a special lunch with Mom. The service was excellent making it yet another great experience.
Tables are a little too close to each other
Had my prom dinner there. It was super! Everything about our visit.
Great find ! The ossabuco was like my Italian grandma would make! And the canolli is outta this world ! New fav spot
Best Happy Hour menu in San Antonio. Great wine list. Hoping to return soon.
We had great service from a personable server and the food exceeded our expectations!
Luce’s Was amazing! I am gluten free and they were very accommodating. I got the pizza and it was to die for! I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone!
Amazing food and outstanding service! Luce does not disappoint. Thank you, we had a great evening!
Food was good and reasonable portion for lunch. Presentation was good. Friendly environment.
We were met in a very friendly manner with awareness of food allergies. A very nice dinner with outstanding food and service!
We enjoyed our Easter three-course dinner. Server was courteous and friendly. Each entree was timed perfectly.
Since the restaurant was cold, we opted for outside. Due to someone smoking and their loud conversation, we asked if we could move inside. We were reseated immediately in a very cordial way. The air was then adjusted and the meal was very good for our family.
Service was very professional. Every bite was very delicious (all 4 of us agreed). The wine was totally awesome!! Every special occasion deserves such a celebratory meal!!
Food was amazing and I will definitely be back!
Middle of the road Italian - red sauces on pastas identical to one another with some add in differences. A number of better choices for Italian in San Antonio (Il Sogno, Nonna, etc).
Luce is a great place to enjoy dinner and happy hour. Have been there several times and food is always superb. Need to compliment our server, Rachel. She was very attentive, courteous, and friendly.
Luce is a great option for an area of San Antonio that is mostly populated with chain restaurants (I-10 nw corridor)- service is friendly and food is consistently good. Also is a GREAT value at HH for food (bar HH food cannot be beat).
Luce is a gem in town. Great indoor dining room, beautiful outdoor patio, cozy and friendly bar and the best food and service. The owner, Joe, is always so welcoming and accommodating, and all the servers take great care of the customers. The food is consistently fresh and tasty. The ambience, food and service is what keeps us going back. Highly recommend this beautiful restaurant!
Great date spot. Little on the high end of italian but I’ve been a few times and it was always great service and great food. Great atmosphere too and not loud so you can talk to you date.
Great food and great service. Really nice restaurant.
Excellent service, the waiter was available and quick to respond to any questions we had about the menu and the wine list, very knowledgeable. We were seated right away and were made comfortable and special.
Food was good, ambience was also fantastic. Very European style eating, tables only 2 feet apart from others (something I’m a fan of btw, but some may not be). Would love to go back.
Now it was Valentine’s Day, so I want to give Luce a second chance. Obviously the location was packed, and they had a special Valentine’s Day menu. My Fiancé ordered from this menu and food while “very tasty” was a bit cold.
Our waitress was very nice and pleasant, very helpful for tips on the menu as well. Yet, she did disappear for a large portion of the evening. The Valentine’s Day special included a dessert, which we had to request to be brought to us.
Again place is very nice and cozy, but maybe the Valentine’s Day event made them a bit overwhelmed. I will return to give them another shot though.
Excellent food, Beautiful decor, good service, reasonably priced. Only thing off was the giant sheets of butcher paper covering the table cloths. Hearing the wait staff crumple up a 4 ft square sheet of paper after clearing each table was an unnecessary distraction from an otherwise pleasant experience.
We had a table of 5 to celebrate my husband’s birthday. The Caesar salad was delicious and the Shrimp in Lemon Sauce was superb. Excellent service and good ambiance. I had requested a quiet spot and we were right in the middle of the busy room. I know that quiet is hard to come by in most successful restaurants on a Friday night but I wish acoustics were given more attention. All in all, we had a wonderful meal at a consistently good restaurant.
Wait staff excellent. A bit noisy. Coffee outstanding.
