About Luce Ristorante E Enoteca
Founded in 2006, Luce is a local favorite featuring many traditional dishes. Flavors which often bring our guests back to their best memories of Italian specialties.
My goal for this restaurant to create a warm environment for all guests that is typical of a true Italian heritage.
Our menu consists of many Buonincontri family recipes and recipes brought back from travel to Italy.
Fresh fish, meats and produce expound throughout Luce's offerings and a focus on the finest ingredients are what make Luce special.
House made Gnocchi, Italian rice balls and homemade Mozzarella are just a few examples our passion for the finest Italian food. The word Enoteca means wine library. The walls of the entire restaurant are covered with wine bottles as you would expect books to cover the walls of a library. Wine is a very important part of an experience at Luce, with over 125 choices from our wine list available to you.

Luce Ristorante E Enoteca Ratings and Reviews
We had New Year’s Eve dinner here and I would classify it as average. We were seated at a table near a “secret” door which appeared to be an office and people kept going in and coming out. Every time they went by we had to move because the table is immediately in front of this door. We requested to move and they moved us to another table; all was fine until a waiter came to grab a bottle of wine that was immediately above our table and this happened twice until a manager came and grabbed several bottles of wine. Needless to say, our dinner was filled with interruptions which made it very unpleasant.
Decent value; very inconsistent. Soup appetizer seemed it was canned Campbell's.
Ordered 2 filets medium rare. One was medium well, the other was extremely rare and bloody. Despite poor consistency flavors were good. Some redeeming factors: lobster was prepared perfectly and dessert was superb.
Overall not worth revisiting.
I don't know if it was just an off night or if there is new management and a new chef on board but the food was terrible. I've eaten there before and it was quite nice. I ordered a soup and salad that night. The salad was ok but nothing memorable but the soup was inedible. Pasta and fagioli "soup" was pasta swimming in tomato sauce that tasted exactly like plain tomato sauce straight out of a can. I sent it back. We asked the waiter two different times to bring more lemon for our water and he obliged, bringing back cut lemon slices he'd thrown in a paper napkin. I'm not kidding. Who does that??? We won't be back.
We dined at Luce and sat on the patio to enjoy their special Thanksgiving dinner which was surprisingly priced very reasonably at $26.95. They also had great discounts on bottles of wine so we had two of a very nice Italian white wine. The turkey portion was very generous and the sides were what you would expect, stuffing, sweet potato and vegetables, it also included a big salad, home made bread with dried tomato butter and a herb butter and pumpkin pie for dessert. One of our group opted for pasta and seafood and said it was delicious wIth lots of mussels. Our waiter, Noah, was great and added to the enjoyment of the afternoon. The patio at Luce is lovely and we were lucky that the day was warm enough to sit outside.
I had the salmon with greens. I asked the size of the salmon and was told “about 7 oz”. It was very thin, over cooked and was barely 4 oz. the dish was ok, but would have been much better with less salt and a larger, thicker piece of salmon.
Had cappuccino at end of meal... best ever!
The wife and I went for the Thanksgiving special. We sat outside next to the fireplace, which was quiet and comfortable. The food was good. The wine was good. The service was good. The ambiance both inside and outside was nice, with interesting artwork on the inside. Having lived in Italy before, I cannot validate the authenticity of their menu yet, but I will definitely go back again.
My wife is gluten & dairy intolerant. Our waiter, Adam, was amazing and checked in with the chef and the owner, Joe, and came up with a great alternative for my wife, serving Chicken Marsala, with corn meal coating for the chicken batter. Needless to say, she was in heaven. Personally, I'm a linguini and clams fanatic. This dish was by far the best linguini and clams I've ever tasted. Loved the soft lighting and the friendly staff. Very romantic for our date night. We will DEFINITELY be back!
Priced for elegant dining but unfortunately did not deliver. My guest’s chicken Marsala was sour tasting and service was amateurish.
More and more tables seem to be squeezed into the existing space and hordes of customers were attacking buffet pans on the patio. They were the diners who seemed to be obtaining the service not us. Expensive but with no relationship to the poor food and the unprofessional service.
Luce has been one of my favourite places for business lunches, meeting friends, birthday lunches. This recent lunch was one where there were several disappointments with food items. I plan to discuss these with manager & hope that the problems an be resolved.
In general, our visit was great -- Luce always brings a complimentary dessert for the Birthday Person & it came also on this occasion & was great
Been there many times -- like it for meeting with friends, for business lunches, for celebrations. Their lunch menu is very good in selections offered, value for cost, presentation. Staff is always friendly & helpful. Kitchen is very good at filling special requests or making minor/modest modifications
Manager rude when I preferred waiter NOT take my iPhone to "the back" to process Groupon.
(I was not comfortable with someone taking my phone out of my sight for security reasons)
Manager (possibly it was the owner) insinuated he would not accept Groupon otherwise. Eventually did, when I allowed him to "hold" my phone when he asked me very condescendingly if he could at least hold it.
We will never return.
Excellent service and great food. Very nice ambience with extensive menu and wine list.
I always love a fresh marinated seafood salad
The halibut special with risotto was excellent. The meatballs with pasta and marinara was delicious and a very generous portion. Thanks Joe for an excellent meal!
We had a lovely evening! This was our 2nd time there and we celebrated our anniversary at the same restaurant we got engaged and it’s like we never left! We had great service and champagne on the house, it was the sweetest way to remember our sweet moment. Thank you to the owner and staff we will be back!
Everyone in our group was very pleased with their dinner. Halibut with seafood risotto special of the day was excellent! Our waitress provided fast, friendly service and was very accommodating to special requests. The menu ranges from pizza to creative entrees including many traditional Italian favorites expertly prepared. They also have a nice selection for kids. We greatly enjoyed dining at Luce and will repeat again soon!
Starting prices of entree's were to high. Lowest average entree was $23.
My wife had butternut squash ravioli, consisting of eight small ravioli and cost was $23 solo. However, I had the chicken marsala with a generous portion of mushrooms and risotto.
Overall, food was good.
Will I go again, not unless then reconsider some of their prices.
While we thought the food was good (my husbands entire family is Italian), the service was unbelievably slow. We had to ask for a bread basket and waited an eternity for him to remove our entrees after eating. Finally, a server for another table passed by and cleared our plates, another server put our leftovers in a box. Our server had just disappeared. He finally brings us our check and my husband informed him that we weren't finished and asked for dessert menu. When he brought me the gelato, it was partially melted. We observed that the other servers were wonderful and we dont know if ours just had a bad nite or what. It was a week nite and restaurant was only 1/3 full. We'd love to go back but only if we knew we'd get another server!
The restaurant served some courtesy meatballs first that were as good as I make at home. I had the lamb which was a generous portion and cooked to my liking. The Caesar salad was not noteworthy but still tasty as salads go. My friends had Lasagna which they said was top shelf and would be back for more! all in all very good with good service.
Luce has always been one of my favorite San Antonio Italian spots. The homemade pasta and cheese and the authentic flavors of Italy. They make the best fish. Many lighter Italian dishes. You cannot find a better Caprese salad in this state. Great Happy hour specials. Delicious cocktails.
This restaurant is an excellent choice for Italian food with a flare. The dining room is very pretty and has an elegance that enhances the dining experience. There is a nice bar and an outside dining area that gives the patron several options.
They're waiting staff was attentive to details. All questions about the menu options and specials were answered quickly.
The wine selection is extensive with many options is to be ordered by the glass. I always enjoy the marinated seafood salad to begin the meal. The main entrees were severed hot out of the kitchen. The entree with meat balls ,sausage and pasta was outstanding. The special with halibut and risotto was very good. Joe and his staff doing a great job. Overall an excellent choice for dinner and San Antonio
We arrived during "happy hour" time - you must ask for the "happy hour" menu. The food is very good, no complaints from anyone in our group of seven (7) guests. We had four (4) appetizers and five (5) pizzas and two bottles of wine. We took an untouched pizza to go as we couldn't eat it. Our service got a little slow while we were waiting on our bill otherwise - excellent.
Will return and will recommend.
