Luce Ristorante E Enoteca
My goal for this restaurant to create a warm environment for all guests that is typical of a true Italian heritage.
Our menu consists of many Buonincontri family recipes and recipes brought back from travel to Italy.
Fresh fish, meats and produce expound throughout Luce's offerings and a focus on the finest ingredients are what make Luce special.
House made Gnocchi, Italian rice balls and homemade Mozzarella are just a few examples our passion for the finest Italian food. The word Enoteca means wine library. The walls of the entire restaurant are covered with wine bottles as you would expect books to cover the walls of a library. Wine is a very important part of an experience at Luce, with over 125 choices from our wine list available to you.
Good neighborhood restaurant with large menu. Not every dish is a highlight but their gravy/sauce is exceptional, gnocchi is light and delicate, and the osso buco is tender and rich. Wine list is pretty extensive albeit slightly over-priced.
Food was good. Service was good. Not too noisy. Clean and decorative atmosphere. Would go back .
It was excellent as always. The food was superb and the server said they like us to have an exceptional dining experience and said they would make any dish however we wanted it. We could substitute things from other dishes if that is what we preferred. I can't remember our server's name but he was also a sommelier and he was excellent. This place is great for visiting because the noise level is always low. Always enjoy coming here. Thank you.
Something was a bit off with service this time at Luce. We usually receive exemplary service commensurate with the food, however, our server seemed uncomfortable and unsure throughout our evening.
We arrived relatively early (6:30pm) so the restaurant was not especially busy; I noticed our server had us and one other table to service. Our server walked by our table at least twice after we sat without acknowledging us, and once he did greet us, he rushed to get back to the kitchen area and missed the fact we had questions. He never explained the evening specials to us and continued to be in a hurry to get away each time he visited us.
On the positive side, our food was wonderfully prepared and plated; the kitchen even plated a shared meal separately for us, an appreciated service.
Easter with my kids. Joe the owner and his staff took great care of us!
Luce's restaurant has always been a family favorite. Joe (the owner) runs a first class operation. We always feel welcomed and comfortable. The food is expertly prepared and presented.
Excellent food and wine. Very authentic. Great ambiance. Will go again in a heartbeat next time I'm in San Antonio.
The main issue I had we’re all the entee choices were heavy. No simple clean entrees. Everything came with Risotto. The food that was served was tasty and quality.
Great experience as always. My "go-to" place for business meetings with one or two colleagues & for birthday lunches with friends. Always good, always cheerful staff, always warm welcome.
2 Birthday celebrations were great! The food and the Happy Hour was fantastic. Mario our waiter did an excellent job. Avery nice evening.
This is a wonderful little restaurant where the service was excellent as was the food! The wine selection is refined, the patio is spacious, and the attention to detail is visible in everything they do. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone asking for a great Italian experience.
The food was delicious and tasted fresh. The wine was very good, and the waiter offered to help us choose what would be best with our meals. The waiter was very pleasant and answered all of our questions. Food was out in a very fast, seeing as it was a slow Monday night. The restaurant ambiance is nice, clean, and comforting.
I enjoyed very much and looking forward to going back. I’ve heard about the restaurant for awhile and sorry it took me so long to try it out.
Luce was wonderful!!! Food, service, and ambiance were outstanding!!! Thank you for helping to make it a great date night.
We had a great meal and the best service we could ask for. Our server was always super friendly and came by often to make sure everything was OK.
We had the pizza and can't imagine any better pizza anywhere. I have also had the Italian Meatloaf here and it was perfect also.
We hit the Happy Hour and had the Happy Hour wine as well as the pizza so the value was the best you could hope for with this fantastic food and wine.
We went there to celebrate my wife's birthday and we were not disappointed. I had seen this place several times over the year and thought, "we should try it out"
When we got there I was really impressed with the ambiance and the decor of the place. The wine bottles (thousands, ok may hundreds but it sure looked like every wall was lined with them) it just make the experience all that better.
The food was fantastic and the waitress was over the top professional, friendly and very helpful in guiding us with suggestions. I love the outside patio and would like to have dinner out there when the weather is cooler and I hope to do this soon. I saw the bar area which if I lived closer would be my go to spot. If you want great food, great ambiance and great service this is the place.
Oh I forgot. I want to say that all food is made from scratch. Look if you go to Olive Garden that is not a true Italian place to eat as all their food is premade to get you in and out fast.
So if you come here, put that phone away, in fact turn it off. Talk to each other, take your time and enjoy the place. Eating and breaking bread is the best time to really wind down and enjoy each other and the moment.
Food was good. Wine was great.
Great service and delicious food
Pizza is the best.
We have always enjoyed the food and ambience at Luce. There's a great selection of food and wine to choose from. Matthew was our waiter and he gave us incredible service. We highly recommend!
Awesome food great service and excellent staff. Its a great location easy to get to as well.. I would take all staff for a great party
Wonderful place for lunch meeting-just wish they had lunch menu (smaller portions!) still great food and service!
Calamari Zucchine Fritt Piccata was too spicy, need to tone it down. Linquine Mare Chiaro was not what I ordered got the pork chop and I ordered the meatloaf for a little comfort food. Wait staff was fantastic, along with atmosphere, service, noise was very peaceful.
Great food a little on the high price but overall great value!
Food Temperature was awful
Seemed nice; however was seated right next to the waiters work area. Pretty distracting when trying to have a nice dinner. Waiter did not seem experienced, had thumb in the soup when he brought it to my wife. We also had a bright light on us coming from the waiters work area. If your going to have a nice restaurant might want to put work areas away from dinning areas. Won’t go there again.
My wife and I went to Luce for a Valentine's Day dinner. We started with peach Bellini's that were excellent. Luce was very busy but had a lot of servers working that night. We had caprese salads and a penne pasta entrée with meatballs and sausage. All of the food was fantastic and we finished with a chocolate lava cake with vanilla gelato. Overall a great night and dinner.
we've enjoyed our meals in the past at Luce, but our Valentines experience was really subpar. It took 45 minutes to get our single appetizer (3 meatballs!) and another 30 to receive our entrees. My lamb was good, but my husband's salmon and hummus was cold in the middle. The waiter, while kind, was incredibly frazzled. We only had waters and our bill was still $75!
Have never had a bad meal at Luce. The owner and staff are friendly and welcome us warmly. The patio is pet friendly so we take our dog. They bring him a bowl of water. And he enjoys a meatball!!!
The noise level in the interior is low. The new booths are a great addition as is the extended bar.
The best Italian restaurant in San Antonio!!!
Food was excellent as was the waitress. Great ambiance....will definitely go again!
Thoroughly enjoyable experience at Luce tonight. Our server greeted us promptly, suggested wonderful appetizers, and delivered our drinks. He then explained the evening special and took our orders. The appetizers arrived shortly thereafter and pleasantly surprised me. I’m not a fan of hummus but our dish was prepared splendidly with spinach and toast. I had the special which snapper on a bed of risotto and asparagus; perfect!
A wonderful experience!
Thanks!! Great service
Fabulous food, get ambitious and the wine was excellent, can't wait to go back again
Food decent, if uninspired. Veal dish was fine, brachiola was dry and flavorless. Dessert was fine. Not a place to avoid, but not one I’d seek out.
The service and food and ambiance were wonderful. My only complaint is that, probably because we were 3 older women, they tried to sit us in this back room that was dark and not nearly as nice as the main dining room - almost felt like a sports bar with a large screen TV and that is where they apparently sat the families with small children. This is despite us having made reservations through Open Table. I get tired of restaurants trying to discriminate this way just because we are older. It was only when we objected that they sat us in the main dining area but we could tell the hostess was not too happy about it.
Outstanding excellence! The food the service the ambiance. Thank you, Joe!
Awesome food, great wine list, great place for a party
Something changed. Food presentation was poor and taste was mediocre. I’ve been there before and it used to be something to talk about but not anymore. Drinks from the bar were good.
Went for an early lunch with my coworkers for my birthday. Service was great & manager sent over a delicious tiramisu. Will definitely go back.
Nice spot for business lunch!
