Luce Ristorante E Enoteca
My goal for this restaurant to create a warm environment for all guests that is typical of a true Italian heritage.
Our menu consists of many Buonincontri family recipes and recipes brought back from travel to Italy.
Fresh fish, meats and produce expound throughout Luce's offerings and a focus on the finest ingredients are what make Luce special.
House made Gnocchi, Italian rice balls and homemade Mozzarella are just a few examples our passion for the finest Italian food. The word Enoteca means wine library. The walls of the entire restaurant are covered with wine bottles as you would expect books to cover the walls of a library. Wine is a very important part of an experience at Luce, with over 125 choices from our wine list available to you.
We went there to celebrate my wife's birthday and we were not disappointed. I had seen this place several times over the year and thought, "we should try it out"
When we got there I was really impressed with the ambiance and the decor of the place. The wine bottles (thousands, ok may hundreds but it sure looked like every wall was lined with them) it just make the experience all that better.
The food was fantastic and the waitress was over the top professional, friendly and very helpful in guiding us with suggestions. I love the outside patio and would like to have dinner out there when the weather is cooler and I hope to do this soon. I saw the bar area which if I lived closer would be my go to spot. If you want great food, great ambiance and great service this is the place.
Oh I forgot. I want to say that all food is made from scratch. Look if you go to Olive Garden that is not a true Italian place to eat as all their food is premade to get you in and out fast.
So if you come here, put that phone away, in fact turn it off. Talk to each other, take your time and enjoy the place. Eating and breaking bread is the best time to really wind down and enjoy each other and the moment.
Food was good. Wine was great.
Great service and delicious food
Pizza is the best.
We have always enjoyed the food and ambience at Luce. There's a great selection of food and wine to choose from. Matthew was our waiter and he gave us incredible service. We highly recommend!
Awesome food great service and excellent staff. Its a great location easy to get to as well.. I would take all staff for a great party
Wonderful place for lunch meeting-just wish they had lunch menu (smaller portions!) still great food and service!
Calamari Zucchine Fritt Piccata was too spicy, need to tone it down. Linquine Mare Chiaro was not what I ordered got the pork chop and I ordered the meatloaf for a little comfort food. Wait staff was fantastic, along with atmosphere, service, noise was very peaceful.
Great food a little on the high price but overall great value!
Food Temperature was awful
Seemed nice; however was seated right next to the waiters work area. Pretty distracting when trying to have a nice dinner. Waiter did not seem experienced, had thumb in the soup when he brought it to my wife. We also had a bright light on us coming from the waiters work area. If your going to have a nice restaurant might want to put work areas away from dinning areas. Won’t go there again.
My wife and I went to Luce for a Valentine's Day dinner. We started with peach Bellini's that were excellent. Luce was very busy but had a lot of servers working that night. We had caprese salads and a penne pasta entrée with meatballs and sausage. All of the food was fantastic and we finished with a chocolate lava cake with vanilla gelato. Overall a great night and dinner.
we've enjoyed our meals in the past at Luce, but our Valentines experience was really subpar. It took 45 minutes to get our single appetizer (3 meatballs!) and another 30 to receive our entrees. My lamb was good, but my husband's salmon and hummus was cold in the middle. The waiter, while kind, was incredibly frazzled. We only had waters and our bill was still $75!
Have never had a bad meal at Luce. The owner and staff are friendly and welcome us warmly. The patio is pet friendly so we take our dog. They bring him a bowl of water. And he enjoys a meatball!!!
The noise level in the interior is low. The new booths are a great addition as is the extended bar.
The best Italian restaurant in San Antonio!!!
Food was excellent as was the waitress. Great ambiance....will definitely go again!
Thoroughly enjoyable experience at Luce tonight. Our server greeted us promptly, suggested wonderful appetizers, and delivered our drinks. He then explained the evening special and took our orders. The appetizers arrived shortly thereafter and pleasantly surprised me. I’m not a fan of hummus but our dish was prepared splendidly with spinach and toast. I had the special which snapper on a bed of risotto and asparagus; perfect!
A wonderful experience!
Thanks!! Great service
Fabulous food, get ambitious and the wine was excellent, can't wait to go back again
Food decent, if uninspired. Veal dish was fine, brachiola was dry and flavorless. Dessert was fine. Not a place to avoid, but not one I’d seek out.
The service and food and ambiance were wonderful. My only complaint is that, probably because we were 3 older women, they tried to sit us in this back room that was dark and not nearly as nice as the main dining room - almost felt like a sports bar with a large screen TV and that is where they apparently sat the families with small children. This is despite us having made reservations through Open Table. I get tired of restaurants trying to discriminate this way just because we are older. It was only when we objected that they sat us in the main dining area but we could tell the hostess was not too happy about it.
Outstanding excellence! The food the service the ambiance. Thank you, Joe!
Awesome food, great wine list, great place for a party
Something changed. Food presentation was poor and taste was mediocre. I’ve been there before and it used to be something to talk about but not anymore. Drinks from the bar were good.
Went for an early lunch with my coworkers for my birthday. Service was great & manager sent over a delicious tiramisu. Will definitely go back.
Nice spot for business lunch!
It was an hour before we received our meal. The veal was not good; neither of us finished it. They said the Gelato was north Italian but if they had ever had real gelato they would know it wasn't what they were serving. The only good thing we had was the bottle of wine our server recommended.
Luce has been around for a while but they continue to make it better and mix the menu up. They also can handle special requests with no problem. Very friendly staff. We will be going back soon.
My favorite spot for lunch gathering with friends & colleagues. This time, the gathering was for my birthday. Great experience among the three of us who enjoy Luce
Attractive setting with creative takes on usual Italian restaurant favorites. I particularly liked the bruschetta which was served "deconstructed" allowing me to add a variety of ingredients. The braciola was also excellent. Service was a bit slow, but acceptable. The mood isn't intimate but we did have a reasonable level of privacy. Overall, a good value that I'd recommend.
We love this place. However, this meal was a disaster. My spouse and I both ordered Veal Picatta. My potatoes and spinach were burnt and his veal was missing capers
This was our fourth New Years dinner at Luce’s. For a party of 4, the quality of some dishes we ordered was spot on while others were ok but not great. If you didn’t order the New Years special - side substitutions were made for other dishes. Cocktails were also a hit and a miss. If you claim the bartender can make anything, you should also check with the bartender to ensure the ingredients is on hand first... before bringing it to the table....
Overall it was still a good experience and we hope next year will better.
New Years Eve Dinner
Absolutely superb. Service was impeccable. Appetizers and entrees were excellent.Totally recommend
Very tasty food! Pasta cooked "al dente." Perfect balance of condiments in the four different entrees we had.
When we told the hostess our reservation time, she didn't greet us. She just let us know in a not friendly matter that we could sit at the bar and wait for a table because they were busy. She then offered us a table in the bar which we took.
Our poor waitress was running from table to table. I had to ask twice for utensils. My niece asked for more tartar sauce for her calamari and the waitress said it would be a while. It never came. My sister ordered tea which never came.
The food was horrible. My pasta & fagioli was tomato based which I have never seen. My chicken marsala had so much watery sauce on the plate it was unappetizing. Nothing was worth eating.
I question why anyone gave this restaurant a good rating.
Enjoyed happy hour specials. Really great pizza.
The food and service was great!! This was our first time there. We will be returning.
Gaby our waitress was outstanding again, I had her the previous week and she was superb! From the ambiance to the food and staff, our dining experience was very enjoyable. I’d highly recommend Luce to family, friends any day of the week.
We enjoyed our Christmas Eve meal at Luce. Everyone was friendly and the service was great. Food was very good but not outstanding
Just amazing definitely coming back
Was a Christmas Eve dinner but I going to have a date with my wife
