Luce Restaurant & Enoteca Ratings and Reviews
Had grilled salmon...very nicely prepared and presented. Reasonable pricing and for NYC more than reasonable value/quality/portion size. The vegetables were bland at best. They got us in and out very quickly because unfortunately we we had a show to be at.
I would definitely return.
We were running behind schedule and had a 7:30 show at Lincoln Center. The extremely friendly and helpful staff had us on and out in 45 minutes without once feeling rushed, with appetizers and wine. The veal scallopine over porcini mushrooms was perfectly done, as was the fettucine with smoked salmon. A very pleasant experience, we will go back next time with more time to stay and enjoy the neighborhood atmosphere.
Wonderful meal near Lincoln Center. We found the waiter to be quite charming — a nice blend of professionalism and friendliness.
Two of us started with appetizers — the asparagus wrapped in prosciutto with peppers and drizzled with balsamic vinegar was fresh and light with just the right amount of saltiness. A modification of the mussels on the menu, as the person ordering doesn’t eat tomatoes, was perfect.
Main courses ordered were the shrimp and pasta dish, chicken in tomato sauce with pasta, ravioli with mushroom sauce (that was my dish — delicate ravioli in a creamy sauce) and two specials of the night — osso bucco and a pasta dish with vegetables and filet mignon.
Even though we have some picky eaters in our group, everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meal. This is definitely a restaurant we’d return to.
Ate here before the opera Saturday night. Was our first time here and we definitely intend to return. The three of us enjoyed everything we ordered. Pastas were excellent and the chicken Luce was delicious! Tiramisu was excellent. Very nice wine list as well. Look forward to eating there again.
The ambiance is poor because of the lighting. Check out your neighboring Italian restaurants: Fiorello’s, Pomodoro, Pappardella. They are much more upbeat. The bread was stale. Had to ask for butter four times. I was given a fork that was totally dirty. Waiter was inattentive. Food was very good; total experience poor.
Luce- Too rushed - over booked .
From a past fine ,relaxed dining experience to overbearing waiters and a lack luster manager. We felt rushed .
Waiters repeatedly came over to interrupt our dessert time. Another couple next to us responded by telling the waiter to wait until her dessert was completed and told him she will wave him over when done.
We liked a pasta meal, but will try another restaurant next time .
Everything was consistently delicious, from the sun dried tomato spread that came with the delicious bread, to each and every dish we ordered off the menu. It was homey Italian food with a special twist and extra flair. I would definitely go back! We all enjoyed it very much.
The good was very good ; the only criticism - the bread (usually a good indicator of what to expect from the rest of the meal ) was just passable. In this case, however, the rest of the meal was delicious . The maitre'd was extremely accommodating ( even charged my cell phone in the back office ) . Overall a very pleasant experience .
Food is okay but definitely nothing special. Sorta a good place to go if you are on the UWS and some of the better Italian places are filled. Otherwise, head to Coppola's West or Pomodoro if you prefer good Italian food. Also, avoid the chicken Lucce - it is extremely spicy - the menu says "sweet and spicy". Don't believe it - one of the spicier dishes I have ever eaten. The restaurant was nice enough to take it back and give me something alternate. The service was VERY nice but VERY slow - long periods of time passed with no one asking how we were doing. Was kinda annoying to have to wait so long for someone to help. So, overall, if you need a place to eat and some of the better places around are full, you won't have a bad time but the food wasn't especially good either. My date's mussels were good, she said. Oh, the tartufo was good too - but then again, everyone's is.
Always a great experience at Luce. The food is delicious! I've never had a bad meal. I especially love the almond crusted red snapper. The mushroom appetizer is to die for. I also really enjoy their ricotta cheesecake. It's light and very delicious. I dine there often and would recommend it to anyone.
Luce is a delightful return to enjoyable dining. The room is large, well lit, and comfortable; tables are placed so that conversations can be held at your table without hearing those at other tables.
Our dinner order was taken promptly after the waiter explained the specials and menu and served in a leisurely manner.
My friends and I enjoyed our dinners and will return again.
Bravo to the entire staff!
Nice restaurant near the movie theatre on 68/Broadway. The risotto with mushrooms was very good as well the veal with asparagus. A half bottle of Chianti for $20 was a good value rather than purchasing 2 glasses of wine. Open front area and seating outdoors was pleasant. The server was very good in checking with the chef to make it a Gluten Free entrée on the veal.
