The place is charming, the food and service is amazing and the wine was delicious! Meadow was our server and she did an outstanding job. She was quick, friendly and so charming. She was definitely working hard, they were packed and she had the whole upper dinning room. The only bad thing abt the whole experience (this was our first time here) was the chairs at the tables. They are a soft chair and seem very wore out. I’m small 135 lbs and when I sat down I felt like I was going to the floor. My husband is 6’6 and 250 and really felt like he was on the floor. The only thing I would suggest is new chairs with a wood or firm seat. We will be back
They must have been having an off night. Usually this place is really good, but last night it was just okay. The kitchen was a mess, the entree’s took almost an hour to arrive to the table, and to make matters worse the squash ravioli was bland and unappealing. The whole plating was awful. They took ravioli, coated it in olive oil and threw some sausage on top. I could have made the at home. Last night was not Lucca quality. My server was great and the wine was good.
Be sure to be clear about where you want to sit when you make reservations. We were told there was no room on the patio even though I could see open tables.
Such a lovely patio under cover at Lucca Ristorante. The new fall risotto was delicious with an interesting combination of flavors, a dish unlike anything I've ever seen or tasted. Service was excellent, attentive but not intrusive.
Terrific go-to business lunch location. Food consistently good. As it seems is the case with most restaurants currently, understaffing is a slight issue and service was a little slow as a result, but the present staff did an admirable job under the circumstances and were very pleasant.
Meadow was great! Food was excellent. Outdoor seating perfect.
Nice cozy environment for a chill dinner. Nice selection of wines. Food is great but not the most delicate.
Great food, great atmosphere and great service. Will be back.
Great food. Good ambience. Neighborhood gem. Highly recommended.
Food was mediocre and menu was limited. The table cleanliness was not appropriate. A dead fly was on the table on glass of water that I noticed while eating. Very disappointed with overall experience.
Lucca has great food and provides excellent service. The menu is varied enough to have something for almost everyone, made to order to you can ask for what you want. It's an excellent place to relax and have a worthwhile meal.
Eateries are short staffed these days, and the night I dined there, Lucca's was definitely short staffed, but they accommodated nicely. Food is always excellent. They serve in courses and don't rush you. Atmosphere exemplary. The hostess, "Meadow", earns high praise for standing out--personable, professional, and pleasant!
Meal was very good, service was excellent and the atmosphere very pleasant!
Very nice place, great food, great service and thank you for my Birthday free Desert.. it was excellent and the old fashioned drinks were equally as excellent.. see you very soon ..
Sometimes when I go to a nice restaurant, I make the mistake of being adventurous and get something else that I wouldn’t normally get. I made the mistake of getting this shrimp with zucchini pesto sauce which I kind of hated. I should’ve stuck with a red sauce which would’ve tasted much better. At first bite it was good but it’s not something you want to eat a whole plate off. It’s like when you order a crabcake for an appetizer which is fantastic but you never want a crabcake entire meal because then it gets boring. My meal got boring real fast
My wife and I were looking forward to enjoying some authentic Italian food but ended up being disappointed.
To start with the calamari was recommended and so we gave it a try. It was heavily breaded deep fried and no better (perhaps worse) than we have had elsewhere.
My wife and I ordered different pasta dishes. My pasta was chewy and the sauce, just average at best. My wife’s pasta was so flavorless that she kept adding Parmesan cheese and salt to try and doctor it up. We ate enough to satisfy our hunger and called it a night. We won’t be returning.
Excellent food & service. Would recommend this place to anyone who wants a fine dining experience.
Seated in corner of empty dining room. Inexperienced waitstaff. Food just ok.
I requested dining on the patio, they sat us outside, though reservation was timely and accommodating. The seating was very comfortable. The service was not good. Possibly the poor service was due to Covid and lack of workers so I try to give the benefit of the doubt these days. We still tipped 20% considering the circumstances. The meatball app was good. The strawberry salad was good. I had the seafood risotto, it was average to just above average. I thought the menu was lacking selection overall. That was probably the opinion of our group.
Great food and great atmosphere Our waiter Dustin definitely added to our dining experience. Loved his sense of humor and menu suggestions.
It was fine.
Moving our daughter into Pitt this week and were pleasantly surprised by our meal at Lucca. The food was excellent, and the Frutti del mar pasta we highly recommend. There is an outdoor patio but due to the hot weather we ate indoors. We enjoyed the ambiance and our service was great, thank you Dustin and Emily!
Everything was perfect. We had great service and the food was outstanding. Ambience was lovely. We will be returning for sure.
The meatballs and sauce are absolutely delicious! But they burnt out toast to a crisp. My dad and I got a laugh out of how hard it was to bite it. But aside from the burnt bread, the food was pretty good. I would give this a 4/5 stars. Definitely a nice place to enjoy conversation over a good meal.
Chef never showed up.
Great food and amazing service. Will be back
Food and service were excellent, from the burrata to the pasta. Cocktail also!
Busy evening; glad we made a reservation. Attentive & friendly waitress. Delicious food. Owner was busy, happily chatting with customers & working right alongside the hostess & wait staff. Impressive. Definitely will return!
College drop off
Delicious food, great wine, outside covered seating - the seafood risotto was perfect, plump, juicy shrimp, beautifully seared scallops. Brussel sprout app was delicious, and the waitstaff allowed for a relaxing pace as we had an out of town guest with us. Highly recommend the mushroom ravioli too, and the salmon entree - nicely seared without drying the fillet out. We skipped dessert this time, but in the past, their tiramisu and other selections were excellent as well.
Go for the amazing house-rolled pasta, enjoy a wonderful wine, and relax on the patio with your dolce!
Luccas has gotten better, which has forced the Carnegie Cafe to get better, so it's a win. Entertained a colleague visiting CMU this Fall there who routinely dined around Georgetown University, and he was quite favorably impressed.
The menu would benefit, however, with a side salad; there is none at this time.
Second visit in a row where things took a dramatic turn. Spotty service at best. Ice cold meatball appetizer, bruschetta on stale bread, burnt the cheese on my chicken parm and my wife’s shrimp Alfredo was cold also. No pomegranate to make an advertised martini. Just really disappointed
We had a wonderful attentive server and even the manager went out of his way to ensure we enjoyed our meal. We will be back!
Worth a visit. We went on a Monday night and it was more crowded than they had expected so service was a little slow. The staff were very nice and the food was pretty good. We sat outdoors on the covered patio and it was charming.
The food was so delicious. The only issue I had was the dish I order came with shimp which I didn't get due to being a vegan and I feel they should have not charged me the whole $26 for the dish (it was zucchini pesto with tomatoes and spinach only). Other than that, I would definitely go back.
Food was amazing! Enjoyed everything. From the cocktails to the yummy bread. Great find while visiting.
Excellent meal and service
Service and food were excellent. We were given the choice to change our outdoor reservations because of the heat and humidity, but opted for a less exposed outdoor table and one at a distance from the music speaker. We were accommodated with utmost grace. Splendid, especially in these times, to have a large covered outdoor area (that was recently upgraded). Food portions are generous, the quality of the food is consistently good, and the staff is good-natured and helpful.
Nice hostess and great food! definitely will be back to try some other dishes.
