We had so much fun and our food and server were awesome!
Food was delicious and waitress was lovely and attentive.
Wonderful dinner. The atmosphere on the porch was great.
We had a lovely lunch outside under the veranda. The food (we all had pasta) was excellent, and the service attentive without being intrusive. Thank you.
It was our first time at Lucca, and we had a great time. The food was very good, and the patio seating was wonderful. They are short handed though, so our waiter was stressed, forgot to enter all our food, and was hard to get a hold of. He did nicely apologize, and we felt bad for him. The forgotten entree was promised in 5 minutes, but 20 minutes later it arrived, after an already long wait, so we were there much longer than was comfortable. It was still nice enough though, so we will go back again.
Overall excellent experience. The patio was comfortable and had great atmosphere. Excellent cocktails and excellent service. The food was very good, too.
Food was very good. A bit salty but good.
Calamari was excellent
Meatballs were awesome.
Only thing was the Chix Alfredo was too salty.
Great place, would def recommend
Delicious food and outstanding service!
Server was inattentive and visibly spending more time and paying more attention to other guests. I consider myself a “foodie” and love trying new restaurants around the city. I was not at all impressed with the drinks. The service was slow and terrible, literally. I almost felt like we were “bothering” the server and had to ask to have water refilled. At one point he forgot the drinks altogether as we sat there and waited. The only reason I did not address management was at my husband’s request. This was our first and last experience here. We will not return.
Great place to eat. Good food expertly prepared. Outstanding wait staff.
I order the fillet and I was so surprised. The flavor and quality of the steak was better than a steak house.
The food here is wonderful. Not inexpensive, but really good. Eating out on the porch is perfect.
Entree meatballs were hard as a rock and served freezing cold. Not one to complain too often but honestly was completely unacceptable.
I little gem in the middle of Oakland. It's been there for many years and still is a great place to eat.
Lucca is an excellent choice if you are looking for a delicious Italian meal served within a comfortable and charming venue! The atmosphere and service are very inviting. The dishes are authentic and the menu has a broad variety of options! Highly recommend trying a visit to Lucca!!
Chicken Parm was rubbery. Not sure it was cooked all the way. Didn’t feel well the next day.
Our waitress was good but seemed like she had all the tables. Over priced for the quality.
need heaters outside
The food was fair at best. The service was slow. They we out of the first bottle of wine I ordered and just opened up another bottle without any other suggestions.
The outside is nice and quiet.
Still not my favorite place!
We went there to celebrate hubby's birthday and the food was delicious! Please make yourself a favor and get the mushroom bisque of they have it because it was AMAZING!!! Everything was very well cooked and even our children are everything. Our server was very kind.
Great atmosphere and great food. They accommodated us with the last reservation of the night and they didn’t disappoint.
We were there on a Saturday night. Service was friendly and attentive but the food was horrible. My wife had a salmon special that was so bad we had to send it back...and we never send things back. Salmon was over cooked and dry -- burnt on the corners. The rest of the dish had so much tarragon that neither of us could take more than one bite. We ended up sharing my Bolognese which was overly sweet and had no flavor otherwise. It was our anniversary, and first time out in weeks so really disappointing.
Not quite the atmosphere you would expect for the price of the food. The food itself was very good and high quality.
It was a beautiful afternoon. We were happy to be there.
We ordered drinks and an appetizer - and even though we were the only diners present - we were pressured to select our entrees at the same time, which we several times declined.
Drinks were ok, but a dry martini was inexplicably accompanied by a glass of crushed ice - in case it ‘needed to be colder’.
The calamari was standard frozen fare — meh.
The wine was fine, and touted at 50% discount.
The ‘shrimp scampi’ was presented with five small, mostly defrosted, precooked shrimp languishing unadorned atop.
‘Despicable’ was the adjective inadvertently used to describe the rejected Scampi.
Should have said ‘pathetic’; but the volcano of wrath that erupted from the manager? Captain? stilled any instinct to apologize.
Packed up our uneaten food and fled.
Birthday dinner for my husband- great patio date service and the pasta bolognese was great! We are visiting from NYC and this was the best meal we had while in Pittsburgh.
Place was not busy. Perhaps because of Covid they were under staffed; as a result service was not good. We ordered three appetizers and split a beet salad. Light on beets and goat cheese, heavy on lettuce. Salad was over dressed with oil. Brussels sprouts in balsamic good; under salted and only warm. We think they sat in the window waiting to be delivered ( under-staffed). Calamari, the marinara was over salted. Meatball appetizer flavor was good, but both meatball and calamari were barely warm. The toast with meatballs was under toasted.
Slow service even though the restaurant was about a quarter full. Really mediocre to bad food. Icky sweet red sauce. Rock hard meatballs. Overdressed salad. Burned chicken parm. Bad all around.
Oh and I saw a mouse. Twice.
Reliably good food and service. Glad to see things approaching normal.
Service was very slow. Had no setups or anything to eat for first 45 minutes. No bread water etc. very disappointing
If you want amazing food and great service this is definitely the place to try. Be prepared to pay $$$ but far worth it.
My twin brother and I took my mother here for a 6pm Mother’s Day dinner. The service was mediocre. I am sure this was due to the restaurant being understaffed. My roasted beet salad was underwhelming and my entree (tagliatelle bolognese) was very good. I also enjoyed my glass of Pinot Noir. My brother enjoyed his soup and pasta, but my mother was disappointed with her Caesar salad (that falsely advertised a poached egg on top).
I will try this restaurant again on a non-holiday.
Great food and beverage service, but be prepared to have your meal experience take a long time. Both the kitchen and waitstaff are routinely slow and overworked. Regardless of the time or crowd, I've been told every time that, "we are busy right now." However, the food is always worth the wait and the prices are reasonable given the quality.
Went for Mother’s Day Brunch. Service was fairly slow & our waiter didn’t seem too exciting to be working. Food was pretty good overall.
Didn’t seem like the heaters were working on the covered outdoor patio. But the food was delicious.
Came for Mother’s Day brunch. They open at 11 and our reservation was for 11am. We were seated out on the covered patio despite several empty tables that remained inside. Unfortunately, it was 40° and rainy today, so we were uncomfortably cold for our meal. We ordered brunch cocktails that were yummy and around the table, had eggs Benedict, carbonara, chicken piccata and soup/salad. Chicken was dry but good flavor in the rest of the meal. It took our food about 90 minutes from when we sat down to come out. Overall just an OK experience and would try somewhere else in the future
My son treated me to a Mother's Day dinner & both of our meals were excellent.
Food and service was sooooo gooood! Atmosphere could use some music or something? But otherwise awesome.
Nice dinner on the patio. Great service. Delicious food, good wine.
Awesome friendly staff!! Dustin was very attentive all evening.. .especially with their music...For starters the watermelon gazpacho and mushroom bisque were excellent... we will definitely be back for the fresh pasta, the perfectly prepared salmon, and the welcoming staff.
Excellent as always. I had the chef's special Chicken Saltimbocca...So many layers of flavor over homemade gnocchi...It was delish! Also, finished off the meal with the limoncello cheese cake...even if you think you can't eat another bite...get it, was So GOOD.
Wonderful neighborhood restaurant with delicious Italian family recipes and extensive wine list. Home made pastas are extraordinary. Bright and spacious indoor decor and comfortable porch seating too. The Pitt & CMU community is lucky to have such a high quality, upper tier option within walking distance.
