Fabulous homemade pasta. We also loved the meatballs! The outside seating is just perfect.
Service was terrible and very slow. We were patient through the experience because we understand restaurants are struggling to find help. An hour after we ordered, we got our entrees, but I had ordered soup that was forgotten. After finally receiving the soup, we asked for the check. Immediately after we paid, and tipped generously despite the service, we were asked to leave ASAP because another reservation was waiting for our table. We were there in total for about 90 mins. Not what I expected from a restaurant that has a quote about being treated like family on the wall, especially since it was because of their slow service we were still at the table. I couldn’t believe it. Meatball appetizer and drinks were great. Entrees were bland and below average. Overall, way overpriced for that level of food and service.
The food continues to improve, all entries are delicious, the wait staff is superb, great martinis, love the porch seating -- and this is becoming one of my favorite restaurants!
Back in town to visit my Daughter so a night at Lucca is our favorite! She had the Crab, shrimp and scallop risotto which was amazing. I had the chicken parmigiana which I get almost every time and love. We always look forward to our visit and you never disappoint.
Best little restaurant in Pittsburgh. Staff is fabulous. Food is amazing. Go there.
Lucca is one of a small number of terrific restaurants that are open Monday nights in Pittsburgh. I’m so grateful for that! Unfortunately, their staffing didn’t keep up with demand and our quiet table of two was in the back very close to a very loud table of 6. We, they & others were waited on by the bartender, who was a great guy that was spread too thinly. As always, the food was perfect, but we drew the short straw last night.
This is a nice restaurant with a quiet atmosphere. You definitely need a reservation. Our waiter was very knowledgeable and was doing his best, but the service was VERY slow. There was not enough waitstaff to handle the number of patrons in the restaurant. The food was good, but not outstanding, especially for the price.
Food was good, but service terrible and manager rude. Would not go back.
Wonderful visit , outdoor seating a must
The atmosphere was really lovely. Our meal was okay. It wasn’t great, but wasn’t terrible. Our service was very very slow, however we recognized that the server just started, so we were okay with slower service because of this. He was nice, but not very attentive. I would recommend for the atmosphere alone for drinks and appetizers, but I do not think we will be returning for dinner.
Owner came to greet and meet
The food was absolutely terrible. The eggplant parmesan was rubbery and cold and tasted like chlorine.
Absolutely the best service in Pittsburgh. Food is always good and I love the atmosphere **
Went for my birthday dinner and the staff at Lucca def. made it a great time for me and my mother! Thank you again for a wonderful meal, I'll def. be back!
It was by luck that we found this outstanding restaurant. Both my husband and I are Italian and are always looking for GOOD Italian restaurants. We started with Caesar salad, which it was obviously just freshly prepared. Our pasta dishes were exceptionally good, bolognese and piccata. We had a lovely quaint table, near the bar. Very romantic, which I was looking for. The person behind the bar waited on us, and he did seem a little preoccupied, which did not overly concern me. The only downside to this great restaurant was it took a little longer to deliver the meal than I expected. But this won’t stop us from returning. I can’t wait to try another dish!
Anniversary dinner was very disappointing. Dead flies on windowsill by our table. Chewy calamari app. No crab in frutti di mar con rigatoni. Rigatoni also very chewy. Other tables served bread- not ours. Kyle the manager who was also our server was less than personable amd never table checked. Asked why crab was missing from dish he said they were low on crab. When booking on open table noted celebrating anniversary but no mention by any restaurant staff.
I typically don’t write restaurant reviews, but I can’t help but sing Lucca’s praises! We went for a date night and reserved a table on their patio. We arrived 45 minutes early and asked if we could find a spot at their bar to have a cocktail and wait, but were told that our table was ready and that we could be seated right away.
We were sat at the “sweetheart” table in a quiet corner. The street traffic was noisy at moments, but otherwise was very peaceful and charming.
Our waiter, Dustin, was very polite and charming. He was able to easily answer the few questions we had about the menu and even offered to replace my main course if I decided that I didn’t like it. (I ordered the Truffled Mushroom Pappardelle after inquiring as to how potent the truffle flavor was; he described it as “balanced,” but was understanding that truffles are a very distinct, often heavy, flavor. I, however, absolutely love truffles.)
The food was OUTSTANDING! We got an order of the bruschetta and split a cup of Italian Wedding Soup as an appetizer. We agreed that both were some of the best we’ve ever had. His entree was the Fruits de Mer Rigatoni, which was stacked with (tail-less) shrimp and perfectly cooked scallops. My pappardelle was beyond delicious, to the point that I’d finished my pasta and used a piece of the complimentary bread to sop up the last of the sauce.
The prices were reasonable for the quality (and the quantity of his main alone) and overall was an exceptional dining experience. Some of the absolute best Italian food we’ve found in Pittsburgh, hands down.
Absolutely no question, we will be back again!
Great place. Outdoor patio is very charming with overhead covering. Inside is nicely set up with 2 levels of dining. Food and service was very good. Would go back again and recommend to friends. Prices were reasonable.
Lucca Ristorante is Oakland’s hidden gem. The homemade food, ambiance, and service are all amazing! I can’t say enough about how great this place is. Definitely a must try.
A Perfect Evening on the Patio
We celebrated our anniversary on a Friday night, and got a lovely table in the corner of the outside patio. Weather was great, service was good, and the food was to die for. I've never had Brussels sprouts like that. My husband had the seafood risotto and loved it. I have a gluten allergy and they made my chicken without flour, with no decrease in taste. Wine selection was good. All in all, one of our best dining out experiences.
Everything was perfect. The business dinner went smoothly. We will be back and make sure to suggest this restaurant to all of our friends.
Great service. Great appetizers. Great great food. Great atmosphere. Enough said
This is such a beautiful restaurant. The ambience was outstanding. The food was good not great. It was just so busy in the restaurant and there were only three servers, including the person who attended bar, And that was just not enough help. I couldn’t get my water refilled and service was very slow. I don’t even really blame our server because she was so busy. The three of them were actually running, but then they need to hire more more servers or not take as many tables. I realize in these times that it is hard to get new employees, but then I would strongly suggest that they limit their capacity. If I knew that the service was going to be better, I would give it another try.
The evening was enjoyable. The service bit spotty as there were I believe just three servers for the entire restaurant. ( Thank Joe Biden most likely). The service when received was very pleasant. The food from start to finish was very innovative and delicious. The tagliatelle with Bolognese sauce outstanding. I would recommend highly.
We enjoyed our dinner and the excellent service.
Kelly was awesome
Food and service is good. However, the platings were not as shown in Google. The brussel sprouts on the web has a slab of pork belly but we got just a chunk. The caprese plated different as well. Overall it is okay.
The food was very good and service was friendly. We understand maybe not at full staff so attention wasn’t at the highest level but we were not rushed and enjoyed the evening. The waiter had a lot of tables. The changes made by new owner are appreciated will be back soon!
Great food, service, ambiance on the patio.
We started out with the greens and beans and fried ravioli. Both were excellent. The greens were done with collards and braised pork, great flavor and different from other places. The Ravioli were portobello stuffed and fried and were equally good. Our main course was the seafood risotto and the rigatoni special. The risotto was a little over cooked, but the scallops and shrimp were done perfectly. The rigatoni were done with chicken, spinach and possibly some sausage with a nice marinara sauce. This was very good with nice flavor. Our server (Emily) was very nice and did a great job. Overall this was very good. I would recommend it.
Had a nice lunch on the outside patio at Lucca. Service was excellent. The menu for lunch was extensive.
Awesome service, great wine and delicious meal on the veranda under the awning.
Overpriced for the quality of the food. Our dishes were tolerable at best. The pasta seemed fine but the sauces did not serve it well.
My first time there, service was perfect, food from appetizers thru desert was excellent. Great atmosphere.
Don’t go to this restaurant. Tonight we arrived for our 7 pm reservation. Staff showed us to our table near the door and promptly left. There were literally no other customers inside. As we were moving to the table from the doorway, a man who was clearly high started cussing at and threatening my husband from behind. Then he started talking about our autistic son. He proceeded to walk through the whole restaurant yelling, and still no employees were around. He finally turned and walked by our table again before leaving. Still no employees present. We were quite shaken. Finally staff came out (claimed to be the owner) and we explained that a man had come in and threatened us. He didn’t apologize or seem to care. Just got defensive claiming that the staff were there, just in the basement preparing food. Seriously? He walked again downstairs. By this time my family had discovered food on the floor, dirty tables and chairs and sticky menus. We walked out without any staff around even to tell we were leaving!
Love the restaurant atmosphere, interesting decor and a great vibe.
Service was friendly but not 100% competent. Our server took ages to take our order. The food didn't arrive for a long time and he said he would go see what happened but didn't come back. After we had been there an hour I asked another server. She got our starters out in two minutes (they had clearly been sitting somewhere going cold) but unfortunately our main then came before we finished eating them.
However they did give us a discount on the food to apologize so maybe we will try it again!
The food itself was mixed, I thought my starter was excellent and my main was perfectly nice but my husband wasn't that impressed by his.
It was my first time there! Fabulous service & outstanding food!!!
Lucca is a reliable, enjoyable, serene experience.
The waiter we had was vey helpful with our questions and suggestions. Nice atmosphere. Everyone loved the watermelon gazpacho soup. I like the atmosphere.
Best Italian food, definitely worth the price! Our server was amazing, very knowledgeable and friendly!
