Food was acceptable, but service was horrible. The drink order was wrong, the appetizer took 20 minutes (it was meat and cheese) and the mains took an hour and 35 minutes. The pasta was warm, but not hot. The scallops were cooked perfectly. No apology for the delay or complete lack of attention to our table.
Around this area there are better options.
This is the 3rd business meeting in a row at Lucca where food was forgotten and service was poor.
I used to eat at Lucca almost every week for business meetings, but feel like service has gone downhill significantly over the last couple of months...and am reluctant to bring clients here.
Very nice dinner. The food was amazing but the service was a little off.
lovely pre-event dining experience with 4 other people.
The only snafu was that the table side checkout produced the wrong check for me.
But I didn't discover it until I was home.
Took forever for the food to be served. It was luke warm at best. But waited so long, wasn’t time to send it back. Only a “sorry” when we brought this to the restaurants attention.
Great service our waitress was pleasant and efficient.
Reservation for the patio. It was a lovely night, wine list was very good with affordable options. Service was excellent and the food was wonderful. The mussels in particular were perfectly prepared.
Waited forever to be served. Had to ask what the specials were and for the wine list neither was offered. Then finally food came and my pasta was so hard it was almost crunchy was so underdone. I called over waitress and she seemed bothered - asked if I wanted to wait for them to redo the meal or would I just like more sauce - like that was going to cook the pasta more. They did remove this meal and my wife’s salad that was soggy and drowned in dressing from meal but I would never go back here again. A shame because three years ago we had a wonderful meal here on their outdoor patio - which by the way we asked to be seated at because we saw open tables out there was told they were reserved even though no one ever sat there our entire meal.
Great food, great atmosphere, great service
Was recommended to Lucca. Service was pleasant. Ordered risotto with mushrooms and shrimp. Shrimp was delicious. Risotto was a bit thick, over-seasoned with too much salt and pepper. And I generally like salt and pepper. Fried Calamari appetizer had a nice sauce but distracting breading that was barely digestible. Ordered a Bloody Mary but they were out of tomato juice. The jazz music was terrific! Wish it had played longer. The music was worth the visit.
The bread was outstanding as was the service. Food took a little while to reach us from the kitchen but was worth the wait. Four of us had different items and everyone enjoyed what they ordered. Pasta was a little too al-dente for my tastes but prepared properly (I just like mine a tad softer).
An eclectic menu of tasty entrees, nice wine selection, attentive and courteous service and attractive, reduced price weekday 3 course early dinner options !
Waiter never asked if we wanted drinks. He never brought bread waited an hour to get our appetizers and another hour for dinner. Basically 2 hours to get food so we asked for check before food even arrived inhaled our meal which was sub par. Kids Alfredo Came out cold and husband's rib eye was rare instead of medium rare. We won't be returning.
I was expecting a lot more from the food. After we ordered our food, our waiter told us they ran out of bread. Bruschetta appetizer was fair. My chicken marsala was not good. Piece of chicken was tiny and covered in a ton of mushrooms and onions??? Sauce did not have a lot of taste. The side of carrots were completely raw. My husband's spaghetti and meatballs was fine and the mussels appetizer that my son got for an entree were good but we had to keep begging for any kind of bread to dip in the sauce.
I have been here multiple times, and always have great service and outstanding food. I rated the ambiance and noise lower than normal because it was college move in time, and was seated next to a large group. Fist time for that, so expect it is not the norm. I try to come here every time I am in this area, so I highly recommend Lucca's for great Italian food.
This was our first time at Lucca as a family, but I have been there multiple times previously for business meals. I enjoyed my meal but service was average and the food was below par for my family.
Although we were greeted and seated with a big smile, our waiter was quiet, offered no pleasantries not even his name, and served our meals indifferently. To his credit, he did refill our water glasses without asking.
Our Brussel sprouts appetizer was tasty, although the kitchen exhausted its supply of calamari before our arrival (6:15 pm). My seared scallops were prepared perfectly and I enjoyed every bite! The pasta Bolognese tasted average to my wife and I agreed with her assessment. Our daughters were thoroughly unimpressed. One ordered short ribs over risotto. The ribs were fine, but the risotto was so salty, it was inedible (I tasted her meal too). The quickly replaced her meal with a better dish. The other ordered a pasta Alfredo. It arrived looking like buttered noodles, so she picked. I didn’t feel the need to test her palate.
My Negroni tasted as it should and our bottle of wine was good. The restaurant appeared to have a lively party in the back room and there was a large table finishing their meal when we arrived. Perhaps it was bad timing for a Thursday evening. The outdoor tables were mostly filled, so the restaurant continues to draw a crowd. The foursome next to us appeared equally to be wanting for a better experience.
Amazing as always- we always know we will be getting great service and great food.
The Terrace is the place to be. We had a large and noisy party nearby, but we were warned. The food was excellent and the service thoughtful and cordial.
Meetball was cold.
Mussels smell bad, taste mediocre.
Risotto was too salty.
Salmon was good.
Calamari was crispy.
Food and service was excellent. Food took a little long to come out but it was worth the wait
Have eaten here several times and been very happy, but this was awful. Not sure exactly what happened, but we waited more than an hour for our food, while others who ordered well after us were done. Waitress apologized and offered drinks or desert on the house, but we just wanted sinner. And still it didn’t come. Another apology, and still nothing. Had to chase down manager, who said there would be no charge for our meals, and kitchen was making them a priority. After another 10 minutes, they came out...pasta dish with seafood...seafood was burned and pasta was ziti, not linguini as stated on menu, and pat a on that dish and another were undercooked. The explanation for pasta switch was “its ziti on lunch menu, so they made a mistake”.
The open seating on the porch is one of my favorite lunch spots. The activity of the street and the gentle breeze of summer! The staff always delivers top quality service. Great venue to get out and enjoy summer on the covered porch.
I had read about this restaurant before we arrived in Pittsburgh and wanted to try it. It ended up being around the corner from the museum we were visiting. We had a lovely Sunday dinner there. The staff was friendly and welcoming, the food was delicious and they had a good wine list. My husband and I both had pasta and the sauce was incredible. If we are ever in Pittsburgh again, we would go back to eat there. It was excellent.
Timing very off. Good food.Nice capable service.
Not worth the price. There was too much salt and garlic in everything. I ordered scallops with risotto cakes, got three scallops and three very garlicky risotto cakes. Mushroom risotto was so garlicky my dinner companion couldn’t eat it.
On the upside, our server was professional and the generous order of caramelized Brussels sprouts were delicious but again, overly salted.
A little loud outside with the band playing but lovely
Our absolutely favorite place for outdoor dining! We shared the scallop special and the risotto cakes were out of this world 😋 The service was attentive without being overbearing. There is never a sharing charge nor any “attitude “about sharing that one can frequently encounter elsewhere.
The next two months are going to be perfect patio weather- don’t miss out on this delightful gem 💎
I had not been to Lucca for several months. But, I was very impressed by what I found on my most recent visit. Service was very attentive. There were several new additions to the menu and I enjoyed my selection. The salad was excellent as well. After we ordered, we were told that dinner might be delayed because there was a shortage in the kitchen. To compensate for the problem, we were give a complimentary appetizer--very thoughtful gesture. I think Lucca is a good value and I intend to go back very soon.
Lucca was fabulous! Every bite of the meal from appetizer to desert was delicious. Service was impeccible! We will most certainly be back!
Nice to be able to walk from many places in Oakland - no need to run downtown for a fabulous dining experience!
The service and location were very good. Food was average, expect the brussel sprout appetizer which was outstanding! Parking was difficult.
Our waiter was helpful but not overly intrusive, which was perfect. The food was good but I ordered a salad and didn’t realize it would be so small. (It was delicious; I just wish there had been more of it!)
We had a lovely experience at Lucca.,We had a great waitress and each part of our meal was delicious!
Nice dining experience
Lucca has always provided great meals for me and my family!
Mussels smelled fishy, bruschetta was ok. Tomatoes in mozzarella caprese were very mediocre.
We went for an early lunch, restaurant was almost empty still took forever to get waited on. The food looked great and I bet it would have been delicious but was so salty I could barely eat it - both pasta dishes were over salted!
Best Tiramisu ever! Olive cake also good. I think something was up with the kitchen the night I was there, which affected the service. Assuming that is now straightened out, it should be a terrific place to dine.
I thought it was fine. Cute spot, we ate outside. Could hear Lucca's music as well as music across the street, which wasn't really ideal. Wanted this to be more cute, quaint Italian, with delicious food, and it just kinda fell short. Nothing terrible, but nothing great.
As we found this place based on online reviews, I’m happy to add to the positivity. Food was very good, we had a wide range of entrees. While no kids menu, the kids were thrilled with the spaghetti and meatballs. We sat on the outside patio and enjoyed a nice atmosphere.
We've eaten at Lucca Ristorante several times, always with great enjoyment. This time we took two friends and while the food was as excellent as ever, and eating on the patio was delightful, the unusually long wait for the main course (over an hour) was a disappointment. Apparently they had a large party that kept the kitchen busy. And they did give us a free appetizer for the table upfront. But we had a 7:30 reservation, and it was 9 pm before the food arrived. So not the best service on this occasion. Still, we'll be back. They make the best risotto we've ever tasted.
