Our food arrived cold and had to be remade. It was remade and we were offered desert and coffee on the house.
The staff was very accommodating as our party arrived in “stages”. The restaurant is nicely done and very inviting. Our appetizers were delicious but the meals were spotty. The scallops and polenta were perfectly cooked. My nieces pasta and shrimp was quite good and the cauliflower Brie soup was excellent. My sisters halibut was not well seasoned, there was something that I think was supposed to be risotto but looked like pink mush and was tasteless. The squash was smeared on the plate and she said it was too spicy. The salmon was ok. The chicken parm was burned on one side but the pasta was very good.
Overall it was ok and part of the issue may have been that we needed to go to another event. The staff was great and like I said the appetizers were stellar. I would be willing to try it again.
Lovely evening spent at Lucca! Scallops were wonderful and the bucatini with clams was outstanding! Able to take advantage of the Happy Hour drink special- best Long Island iced tea ever!! Looking forward to going back soon!
Visiting Pitt and our hotel recommendation was perfect. Most enjoyable evening.
Didn’t enjoy the food at all. Was not worthy the expensive dinner.
Good value especially for Italian Happy Hour. Appetizers were very large-enough to share. Both the arancini and the meatballs were tepid. Obviously made in advance and reheated. The clams con bucatini were good although the pasta was very thick for being made in house. The gnocchi were leaden-probably the heaviest I have ever had. Stick with the reasonably priced wine and appetizers, especially if you can get them heated up.
Excellent food atmosphere and waitstaff.
I am glad to see Lucca is serving brunch again. My meal was good, well prepared and a nice value. The menu is really limited. Why not add bacon and eggs for those who want something simple.? The written menus needs some work. For example the menu states potatoes are included with some main dishes and not with others. . But, when served, potatoes were included with most. I made a mistake and ordered a side of potatoes with my eggs so I had a. lot of extras that I didn't need.
I will definitely go back and I. hope this is successful for Lucca. It's a lovely place and a great alternative to all the fast food establishments in Oakland.
My fiance and I are from out of town and we were looking for a place to have a small dinner after our wedding. We chose Lucca because of their many excellent reviews and their proximity to our ceremony site. However, we have never eaten there before so we decided to give it a test run. We had made our reservation for 6:30 on a Saturday, but our plans changed. Alexandria at Lucca took us early. I'm not sure if we got lucky or if it was because they weren't too busy at the time. Either way, we really appreciated it. Throughout our experience, Alexandria was very polite and helpful with recommendations. She truly made us feel at home. The food & mixed drinks were absolutely delicious! My fiance and I agreed that it was the best meal we have ever had at a restaurant. We are beyond excited to have dinner there after our ceremony and I guarantee we will be back before then! Thank you again for the outstanding meal & service!!
We had been here once before for lunch and it was very good. This time we decided to try it for dinner and we were disappointed. The mixed olive appetizer was very good. They were out of the halibut dish that I wanted and the waiter did not tell us upfront so I had to order something else. I hurriedly picked the risotto dish which came with a pile of what tasted like bbq pulled pork on top and the risotto was more like boiled flavorless rice. My mother had the salmon dish which was cooked perfectly but came out missing the polenta and so we had to ask the waiter to bring out a side of it. The gnocchi dish was good. Needless to say, we did not stay for dessert.
Very attentive service and great food. Rather too noisy for me and my friends.
We visited for an anniversary dinner and were delighted. Thank you to Dustin foe the great service.
Love this restaurant!!!!
We both enjoyed the house salads and then one of us had the salmon and the other had the rigatoni. Everything was delicious!!! Will be going back soon.
Our bookclub group had diner before the Monday evening lecture series at CMU. The restaurant was very crowded and it took forever to get our check. We were rushed getting to the program on time. Made the evening more stressful than it had to be and therefore less enjoyable. Would choose another restaurant next time for our group outing.
The food was great! A new fall menu. Great place for a celebration.
The desserts were the best part (the gelato and bread pudding were good). The rest of the food was mediocre at best. The gnocchi was dry and Caesar salad was boring.
Lucca was just ok. I don’t believe our dining experience correlated with the higher price. The service was very slow during a Sunday evening with half the restaurant unoccupied. My wife and I waited for about an hour from the time of ordering for our dinner to arrive at our table. It seems like those around us had a similar experience. The food was good, but not spectacular either. We’ve had better Italian food at other restaurants for half the cost. It was just a very average to below average dining experience for us overall.
My daughter goes to school @ Pitt. Whenever we are are in town visiting this is our favorite place to go. The food is outstanding and reasonably priced
It was my first time and I really liked it. We dined on the patio on a nice day. We were seated privately which I appreciated, but it was not empty. Our service was just ok, but the food was very good. Nice appetizer selection and everyone enjoyed their entree. I wouldn’t clear the calendar, but it’s a quality option at a fair price. I will return.
The food was ok, expensive for what you got. Service was very good, The atmosphere is nice could use a little upgrade. Can’t compare to Hoffstots and Chelsea’s in Oakmont
Great food and service.
Great experience again. We visit Lucca’s a few times a year and have enjoyed every visit! The food is delicious and the service exceptional. Jordan, our waiter, was professional and welcoming again this year. Great job!
Amazing food! Best fish dish. The desserts looked amazing but no room this time.
It was great
Hit and miss. Parts of each dish were good. Ambiance was fine but there are probably better Italian restaurants out there.
Great place for lunch. Not too many choices but the food is delicious. Overall, I had a very good experience at this restaurant; I would recommend it.
I had the chicken Marsala & the chef prepared it for me gluten-free. It was delicious. Service was great & the patio is a great place to sit.
Outstanding food, a great location, and Chris the server was a great ambassador for the restaurant.
The food was delicious and the service impeccable, thanks to our server Julius.
Food and service has improved significantly since new ownership. It's a work in progress with incorporation of new menu items and an excellent cocktail menu. We enjoyed a very lovely evening on the patio.
Food was acceptable, but service was horrible. The drink order was wrong, the appetizer took 20 minutes (it was meat and cheese) and the mains took an hour and 35 minutes. The pasta was warm, but not hot. The scallops were cooked perfectly. No apology for the delay or complete lack of attention to our table.
Around this area there are better options.
Have been to Lucca about 5 times this year and it is getting progressively worse. Service is usually good and we love the outdoor patio but the food quality to going down hill. Crab is no longer on the menu and this last visit I have one of my worst meals ever in a sit down restaurant. It was an overly complex dish that was not well executed and did not work on many levels
This is the 3rd business meeting in a row at Lucca where food was forgotten and service was poor.
I used to eat at Lucca almost every week for business meetings, but feel like service has gone downhill significantly over the last couple of months...and am reluctant to bring clients here.
Very nice dinner. The food was amazing but the service was a little off.
lovely pre-event dining experience with 4 other people.
The only snafu was that the table side checkout produced the wrong check for me.
But I didn't discover it until I was home.
Took forever for the food to be served. It was luke warm at best. But waited so long, wasn’t time to send it back. Only a “sorry” when we brought this to the restaurants attention.
Great service our waitress was pleasant and efficient.
Reservation for the patio. It was a lovely night, wine list was very good with affordable options. Service was excellent and the food was wonderful. The mussels in particular were perfectly prepared.
Waited forever to be served. Had to ask what the specials were and for the wine list neither was offered. Then finally food came and my pasta was so hard it was almost crunchy was so underdone. I called over waitress and she seemed bothered - asked if I wanted to wait for them to redo the meal or would I just like more sauce - like that was going to cook the pasta more. They did remove this meal and my wife’s salad that was soggy and drowned in dressing from meal but I would never go back here again. A shame because three years ago we had a wonderful meal here on their outdoor patio - which by the way we asked to be seated at because we saw open tables out there was told they were reserved even though no one ever sat there our entire meal.
